Amina's forthcoming book, The Ambition Trap, is now out in the world, but it took three long years of writing and a lifetime of lessons for this book to come to be. Amina sold the book to Penguin Random House's imprint Open Field from Maria Shriver in September of 2022. Along the way, Amina had support from loving friends, peers, and colleagues, and we're getting a chance for them to interview her on what it was like building this invaluable resource in this six part series. This episode's special guest is Stacey Lindsay, a broadcast and print journalist and writer who has extensively covered women's issues, gender equity, work, civics, health, and culture. With experience as an editorial director and consulting senior editor for digital publications, including Maria Shriver's Sunday Paper, Stacey has interviewed numerous public figures, from governors to scientists to actors, such as Lisa Ling, Phil Stutts, Savannah Guthrie, Nedra Tawab, Reese Witherspoon, Debbie Gibson, Sharon Raganoff, and Jay Shetty. As a longtime editor at goop and a former evening TV news anchor and reporter, Stacey's insights and storytelling delve into the exploration of women, societal expectations, and the challenges of navigating our 40's. The key moments in this episode are: 00:03:29 - Overcoming Postponement and Finding Joy 00:08:44 - The Glass Child Phenomenon 00:12:11 - The Art of Receiving 00:18:48 - Embracing Creativity through Writing 00:24:31 - Democratizing Genius 00:34:27 - Unwinding Painful Ambition Connect with Stacey Lindsay Website: staceyannlindsay.com Instagram: @staceylindsay Connect with Amina AlTai Website: aminaaltai.com Instagram: @aminaaltai TikTok: @theaminaaltai Linkedin: linkedin/in/aminaaltai Book: aminaaltai.com/book
Hey Regular people, if you're feeling lonely this Friday, we've got you! On this Lonely Guy Friday edition of RGF we discuss the generational and political debate between Feelings vs. Facts. How it can actually be feelings over facts when it comes to healing, growth and power. How it's likewise not about forcing the world to understand and empathize with your feelings, it's about YOU understanding and empathizing with your feelings. How one feeling usually lasts 90 seconds yet creates thousands of thoughts. How thoughts then become moods, moods become temperament, temperaments become personalities and they become your reality. How the mantra needs then to be upgraded to 'alter your feelings to alter your thoughts to alter your reality.' How we suppress, repress, express and escape our feelings, the meaning of each and how each only exacerbates the feelings. How the big self in 5D needs to manage the little parts of ourselves in 3D. How the '7 year old you' are most likely managing your emotions and making life decisions - and how 'the adult you' can help them. How 'attachment to seeking permanence in all areas of life' is hurting you and how embracing the notion that 'the work' never ends will lift you. Breaking down the book 'Letting Go' and the works of Dr. Kim D'Eramo MindBody TV's while talking about the true meaning of Lent while playing Debbie Gibson and Sinead O'Connor. If it doesn't make sense, remember this is our Friday show, after all. We've got an awesome episode where we dive into the best songs where the title is NOT in the chorus or the hook of the song. Instead, the artist has "buried" the title somehwere deeper in one of the song's verses or elsewhere. This is one of those episodes where you only the Mafia can give you the proper deep dive that this Spotify mix tape deserves.

Jackie started her musical journey performing in church alongside her mom at age 10. In high school, she developed confidence by performing on stages around New York at wedding venues and at he Apollo Amateur night, where she was a semi-finalist. She also built her social media presence by singing covers, and, for the first time, received unsolicited comments about her weight. This led her to promote body positivity and self-love on her social media and in her music, finding inspiration from artists Lizzo and Adele. Jackie's debut single, "Pretty Girls," written by Debbie Gibson, touches upon negative thoughts of body image and comparison but, ultimately, being alright with who you are. Since graduation, Jackie has committed to pursuing her music career and was also accepted to Berklee College of Music, but deferred admission to audition for "The Voice."Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

The show features artists, songwriters, and producers who have made a lasting impact on the music industry, and helps to raise awareness for important causes. One unique aspect of the show is the reading of "letters of love" from fans to the guests, which serves to highlight the emotional connection that fans have with their favorite music. The show also delves into the creative process behind making music, from worldwide smash hits to more obscure album tracks and B-sides. In addition to celebrating music and the people behind it, Iconography takes a strong stance against audio ripping, stealing, and leaking, emphasizing the importance of respecting the work of artists and creators. What were the hottest 100 songs in America for this week during the 1980s? Beginning the decade with arena rock bands, moving to new wave and glam rock to ending the decade with R&B and New Jack Swing, the 80s had a wide variety of great music. This week Rob and Dave will check out the top 100 songs for this week during each year of the 80s and select their favorite songs that put together an elite 80s playlist of the most popular songs on the radio. From Pink Floyd to Michael Jackson, Def Leppard to Debbie Gibson we'll dive back into the awesome tunes that made the soundtrack of our lives as we revisit the Billboard Hot 100 for this week back in the 1980s. Friends, we're gathered together today for a very special episode of "97X Rumblings from the Big Bush" as we pay tribute to the man who saw Jesus at McDonald's at midnight. The man who impregnated Debbie Gibson. The man whose antipathy for Don Henley knows no bounds, and whose love for Martha Quinn is eternal. The man, the myth, the Mojo-est MoFo of them all. The Bo-Day-Shus Mr. Mojo Nixon! Dave "The Dick Cavett of Modern Rock" interviewed Mojo in 1990, and that interview clip is part of this episode - and stick around for his live in-studio performance of "I'm in love with Oprah" from 97X back in 1986.

There aren't many actors that everyone will attest to just being an all-around great guy. Carl Weathers was one of those people. You may have first hated him as Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies, but I bet you jumped out of your seat when Rocky beat Apollo while racing down the beach in Rocky 3. And I guarantee you were the first to cry when his character is beaten to death by Ivan Drago in Rocky 4. He shined in whatever role he was given. Chubbs in Happy Gilmore. Freddie in The Comebacks. And even Carl playing Carl in Arrested Development. Today, when we heard Carl had passed away at age 76, we thought about those 10 minutes. What a gift it was. Thanks for the memories, Carl. We will definitely miss you. Here's our 2009 conversation with the late, great Carl Weathers. The Stuck in the '80s podcast is sponsored by The 80s Cruise.
