Je ne pus retenir mes larmes, et je réussis quand même à répondre. « Oh, vous savez, je ne suis pas venu faire du tourisme, je suis venu soutenir ma fille en plein divorce, et maintenant, je suis obligé de la laisser seule dans une situation dramatique. Non-aeronautical revenue — retail, food, alcohol, duty free — accounts for roughly 40–60% of total airport revenue at major hubs.Duty-free shopping existed for a pretty straightforward economic reason: it helps countries capture spending from international travelers. When a traveler leaves a country, the products they buy in the airport are technically exports. Because those goods are leaving the country and won't be consumed locally, governments allow retailers to remove local taxes like VAT or GST.But does it still work? And why? You'll usually get a better price, the purchase is tax-free, and you won't have to pack it in your carry-on bag. Buy ‘trinkets' at Duty Free in the airport. Trinkets = inexpensive items you see in every gift shop. Chocolates travel well – buy at Duty Free unless you find a chocolate shop you absolutely LOVE. If buying chocolates as a gift purchase two. Unless you have exceptional willpower, one may not make it home. Some items can (and should) be shipped. Pottery, crystal, and glassware are a good example of this. Hainan Province will broaden the scope of its offshore duty-free goods. The adjustment will take effect on Nov. 1. The southern island province's offshore duty-free shopping list will then cover 47 goods categories.

The Hovercraft SR-N1, piloted by Captain Peter Lamb, sailed from Calais to Dover on 25th July 1959, fifty years to the day after Louis Blériot made the first crossing of the English Channel. It took 2 hours, 3 minutes.  The brainchild of British engineer and inventor Christopher Cockerell, Hovercraft was described as a cross between an aircraft, a boat and a land vehicle, hovering just above the water on a cushion of air. And why are so many of them alike?In the 1940s, if you were flying from New York City to London or Paris you would find yourself making a pit stop for fuel on the western coast of Ireland. The Shannon airport at the time wasn't much to look at, but the passengers arriving there were movie stars and celebrities, basically the super rich. And the people of Shannon realized pretty quickly that they needed to upgrade the local amenities for their wealthy clientele. They hired a man named Brendan O'Regan to make it happen. Being the quick-thinking entrepreneur that he was, O'Regan convinced the Irish government to create a tax loophole. And thus, duty free stores were born.
