Scott Morrison is an assistant coach for the NBA's Utah Jazz. He was previously the head coach of the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League during the 2022-23 season.Morrison spent the 2021-22 season as the head coach of the Perth Wildcats of Australia's National Basketball League. He had served the four previous seasons as a Boston Celtics assistant under Brad Stevens. Morrison earned his opportunity with the Celtics after coaching with the Maine Red Claws in the NBA D-League from 2013-2017.In 2001, after his first year of graduate studies at Dalhousie University, Morrison was appointed an assistant coach of Dalhousie's women's basketball team. In 2002, as a 24-year-old, he was elevated to head coach of the team.In 2003, Morrison was appointed head coach of Lakehead University's men's basketball team. Under his leadership, Lakehead went from the worst team in the nation in 2006 to a perennial top five program from 2008 to 2013. For the 2013–14 season, Morrison took a one-year sabbatical leading to his opportunity with the Red Claws.Morrison was born and raised in Morell, Prince Edward Island and attended Morell Regional High School. Throughout his four-year career, he scored over 1500 points (1541), 600 rebounds (641), and 70 3-point field goals (71). He also holds the school record for most games played with 132. He was subsequently named to the All-League MVP team and all league imports first team. Powell played for the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian National Basketball League during the 2006-2007 season. He shone in his debut with the Breakers, scoring 34 points against the South Dragons. Powell was arguably the team's best player throughout the 06-07 season, leading the league in points scored with 28.3 per game. He was also top 10 in the league in steals, and won the 06-07 slam-dunk competition at the NBL All-Star game. Carlos played for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Summer League in 2007. After failing to secure a contract, he was signed by the Ukrainian team Azovmash Mariupol. On November 1, 2007 Carlos was selected 2nd overall in the draft by the Dakota Wizards of the NBA D-League [1]. In the D-league, he averaged 22 ppg, 6.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.4 steals. On November 1, 2009 Carlos was selected 1st overall in the draft by the Albuquerque Thunderbirds of the NBA D-League although he did not stay the entire season. He finished up in the CBL with the Liaoning Panpan Hunters, he averaged 25 ppg, 6.6rebounds. In 2011 Powell played for Zob Ahan Isfahan in Isfahan, Iran averaging 20ppg, 12rpg and 3.5apg. In August 2011 he signed with Maccabi Haifa B.C. in Israel.[1] He return to the Incheon Elephants in South Korea for the 2012-13 KBL season. He was again signed by Incheon ET Land Elephants for 2013-2014 KBL season.[2] In February 2017, Powell signed with Trotamundos. In July 2017, Powell was named Most Valuable Player of the 2017 Liga Profesional de Baloncesto season.

Lance Hurdle learned to love basketball from his grandfather, who put a basketball in his small hands when he was five. 15 years later and with Lance now starring for the University of Miami, it was the same man who's imminent passing inspired Lance to record his career high against the UNC Tar Heels. In between, Lance moved from New Jersey to San Diego, where he started playing against his step father's Army buddies as a teenager. In his senior year of high school, he upped his scoring average from 13 to 24 points to lead his squad to a division championship. Lance's star was on the rise, but at UC Santa Barbara, he struggled to find his best game and place in the rotation. He transferred to San Bernardino Valley College and came on strong in the second half of the season, winning conference player of the year as histeam claimed the conference title. With several offers from top D1 programs, Lance chose to attend the University of Miami, and got his first taste of the NCAA tournament. He then played for the Bakersfield Jam, Idaho Stampede, and Springfield Armor in the NBA D-League, before taking his talents to play pro in Australia. Coach Mike Peck, Today we are talking to Coach Mike Peck. Coach Peck is currently the Associate Head Coach for Coach Steven Henson at the University of Texas at San Antonio. This season will be Coach Peck's seventh as the Associate Head Coach at UTSA. A product of Gaylord, Michigan, Coach Peck played at Northwood University for Coach Dean Lockwood, who is currently the Associate Head Coach for Coach Suzy Merchant at Michigan State. Coach Peck came to UTSA after being an assistant at Santa Clara University. Before Santa Clara, he spent two seasons as the head coach of the NBA D-League's Idaho Stampede, which was the affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers. Coach Peck made his way to the NBA after an incredible six-year run at Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada, where he spent the last five years as the head coach. During his five seasons as the leader of Findlay Prep, Coach Mike built the program into a national powerhouse. His teams combined for a 157-8 record, including a perfect 33-0 season in 2009 and three ESPN National High School Championships (2009, '10, '12). Coach Mike coached seven NBA/NBA D-League players, four of which were first-round picks, including Anthony Bennett, who was the No. 1 overall pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2013 NBA Draft, and Tristan Thompson, who was taken No. 4 overall by the Cavaliers in 2011. Before being hired at Findlay Prep, Coach Peck was at UNLV, where he served as the video coordinator and administrative assistant under head coaches Charlie Spoonhour and Lon Kruger. He was also was an assistant coach at Saginaw Valley State and at his alma Mater, Northwood University. Phil Beckner is a Player Development Coach & Consultant for numerous NBA players as well as several different college basketball programs. He works with players, teams, and organizations to enhance performance and maximize results. While at Boise State, Phil was part of 2 consecutive 20 win seasons, 2 NIT appearances, and was instrumental in the development of 2018 NBA first round Draft pick Chandler Hutchison(#22 Chicago Bulls). Phil was a collegiate coach for 10 seasons, plus one year as an assistant coach at the professional level. Before arriving at Boise State he spent one season at Nebraska, and one season on staff with the Oklahoma City Blue, the NBA D-League affiliate of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Before joining Oklahoma City, Beckner spent seven seasons at Weber State, helping the Wildcats to six consecutive postseason appearances. He served as the program's Director of Basketball Operations for two years before being elevated to assistant coach for five years. Beckner was primarily responsible for the defensive plays, as Weber State won a trio of Big Sky titles in his tenure at the school. Phil worked closely with NBA All-Star Damian Lillard during his time at Weber State. Beckner began his coaching career at the high school level while also teaching physical education at Buckeye High School. He was a part of the staff that won the Arizona state title in 2006. As a player, Phil was a four-year letterwinner at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan., where he earned his bachelor's degree in physical education in 2005. Coach Josh Gross shares his journey from growing up in Maryland to becoming a standout player at UNCG, embarking on a professional basketball career, and now coaching college basketball. He played at UNCG under current Iowa Head Coach Fran McCaffery and shares his experiences and what he learned from the UNCG coaches. Coach Gross played in the NBA D-League (now G League) as well as numerous other countries before breaking into the coaching ranks at the HS level. A basketball prodigy from Bay City, Michigan, who went on to an outstanding collegiate career at Syracuse before embarking on a seven-year professional career overseas and in the NBA D-League. His stops overseas included playing in the Ukraine, Israel, Greece and New Zealand. In 2010, he helped the Wellington Saints in the New Zealand NBL win a championship and he also led the league in scoring. He also played in the NBA D-League with the Reno Bighorns in 2009-10 and the Idaho Stampede in 2011-12. In the last two years, he has also played competitively in The Basketball Tournament with a group of fellow Syracuse alums on a team called Boeheim's Army, reaching the semifinals in 2017 and the final eight in 2018. In college, he starred for Syracuse from 2005-09 and tallied 1,680 career points, 14th in school history. He was named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie team after averaging 12.1 points and 2.3 assists and upped that to 14.8 points and 4.1 assists as a sophomore, where he was a Honorable Mention All-Big East selection. He played in just 10 games as a junior after tearing his ACL, but came back strong as a redshirt junior in 2008-09 posting 15.7 points per game, helping Syracuse to a 28-10 record and a run to the NCAA Sweet 16. Devendorf played in 116 career games averaging 14.3 points and is fourth in career 3-point baskets at Syracuse with 208, sixth in three-point attempts (550) and fifth in three-point percentage (.378). He also accumulated 372 assists, 170 steals and shot 43.8 percent from the field and 79.5 percent at the free throw line. For Episode 14 I am joined by Sheldon Dunlap. Sheldon is currently a strength and conditioning specialist with the Marine Special operations command. Sheldon also worked at the collegiate level coaching and training a wide range of sports at both Duke and UC Davis. Between his roles at the collegiate level Sheldon served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Orlando Magic and the head strength and conditioning coach for the Erie Bayhawks of the NBA D-League. Sheldon shares how he got into the profession, his experiences at both the collegiate and professional level, and his teaching and communication philosophies. Luke Nevill grew up playing basketball for the Stirling Senators in Western Australia. After struggling to get noticed by elite coaches in Australia he moved to the United States to play high school basketball with Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia. It didn't take long to be noticed by the University of Utah and accepted a scholarship in 2004. He decided to redshirt his first year as a Utah Ute and developed his skills during training sessions against fellow big man Andrew Bogut. With NBA interest growing around Nevill he decided to return to college for his senior season, leading the Utes to the NCAA Tournament. At the conclusion of the season, he was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 16.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.7 blocks per game. Nevill went undrafted and after participating in a training camp invitation from the Cleveland Cavaliers he became one of the first Australian's to go on to play in the NBA D-League, signing with the Utah Flash in 2009. He played 48 games, started 43 of them and averaged 11.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. In 2010 Nevill returned to Australia, signing a deal with the Melbourne Tigers. It was a tumultuous season for the Tigers, after recruiting multiple big men (Cam Tragardh, Wade Helliwell and Matthew Burston had also signed deals that season) the team had an unbalanced roster and failed to make the playoffs.  Nevill averaged 12 points, 7 rebounds and 1 block in only 25 minutes per game. The following year Nevill returned to Perth when the opportunity to play for his hometown Perth Wildcats came along. In the 2011–12 NBL season, Nevill averaged 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block per game and helped the team reach the NBL Grand Final where they narrowly lost to the New Zealand Breakers. Nevill signed a pre-season deal with the Indiana Pacers in 2012. He narrowly missed out on making the team and then returned to the NBL, signing with the Townsville Crocodiles mid-season. Nevill played in Taiwan during the 2013–14 season before returning for his last NBL season with the Wollongong Hawks in 2014. It was a difficult season for Nevill who averaged the lowest numbers of his NBL career, 7 points, 6 rebounds per game in a team that finished dead last with a record of 6-22. My guest today is Nancy Lieberman, who is one of the most decorated basketball players of all time. Nancy was a two-time national player of the year at Old Dominion, where she also won two national championships. She was also both a WNBA coach & general manager before being hired as the coach of the Texas Legends in the NBA D-League, making her the first woman to coach a men’s basketball team. She later became the second woman to be an NBA assistant coach when the Sacramento Kings hired her in 2015. She was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996. Dwayne Killings enters his third season with the Marquette University men's basketball program, but his first as associate head coach after being promoted in March of 2020. During his tenure, the Golden Eagles have posted a pair of winning campaigns and an NCAA tournament appearance in 2019. He also helped assemble a consensus top-20 recruiting class in 2020.  Killings arrived on campus after spending two seasons (2016-18) at the University of Connecticut as an assistant coach, which followed a five-year stint in the same position at Temple University. He owns a wealth of basketball experience at every level, ranging from high school and AAU to the National Basketball Association. After graduating from Hampton University in 2003 with a degree in sports management, his first job was as a special assistant with the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats, where he served as video coordinator and helped with player development. After three years in Charlotte, Killings became Temple's assistant director of men's basketball operations, a position he held for three seasons. Killings moved on the NBA D-League, where his responsibilities included monitoring player development programs. From there, he accepted his first collegiate coaching position, joining the staff at Boston University for the 2010-11 season. In 2011-12, Killings returned to Temple as an assistant coach. Killings served on the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Ethics Coalition.The role of the coalition is to promote ethical conduct among NCAA Division I men's basketball coaches through education, leadership and mentoring. In this episode Spencer shares his journey as a college and professional player as well as his thoughts on player development. Spencer Jennings is from Midland, Michigan where he attended Dow High School and earned first team all Saginaw Valley League Honors as a junior and senior. After High School, Spencer attended Hope College for a semester, transferred to Albion College for a semester, before finally landing at Wake Forest and walking onto the Basketball Team as a Sophomore where he was a member of the team for 3-seasons. After Undergrad, Spencer earned his Masters in Sports Law and then decided to give one last shot to pursuing his dream in professional basketball attending several NBA D-league Tryouts & working at the Chris Paul Basketball Academy in Winston Salem. Following his play at the National NBA D-League Tryout in New York City, Spencer was given a contract to be eligible to be drafted in the NBA D-League draft. After not being drafted, Spencer played briefly in Dubai with a team from the Central Basketball Association, and then was offered an opportunity to play professional 3x3 basketball in Okinawa, Japan in the 3x3.exe league in Japan. Today I am joined by college basketball legend Eric Devendorf. Eric played at Syracuse from 2005 to 2009. He averaged 15.7 points per game in his final season at Syracuse. He ranks 14th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,680 points. Despite having one more year of eligibility remaining, Devendorf decided to leave Syracuse and embark on a pro career. He spent the next seven years playing professionally in the NBA D-League and in foreign countries such as Ukraine, Israel, Greece and New Zealand. In October 2016, he returned to Syracuse after being appointed to head coach Coach Boeheim's staff as assistant strength coach.Eric joins me on Episode 23 of The Bus Driver Experience. Tracy Murray, retired professional basketball player, speaks with Dr. Willeumier about mental health and his own personal struggles with depression.Tracy Murray is a retired professional basketball player who currently works as an analyst with the UCLA Sports Network for all of the games during the UCLA Bruins' basketball season. He worked as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the 2015–16 NBA season. Murray played 12 years in the NBA with the Spurs, Blazers, Bucks, Rockets, Wizards, Nuggets, Raptors and Lakers and won an NBA championship in 1995 with the Rockets. He has also been a coach in the NBA D League, WNBA and Assistant Coach for the Lakers. He has been a vocal advocate for mental health and has come out publicly with his struggles with depression, which he shares with Dr. Willeumier in two compelling, informative and inspirational segments.

News out of Celtics practice Tuesday was the Avery Bradley looked good and ready to return against the Cavaliers Wednesday, while Jae Crowder is still experiencing discomfort in his left elbow and sat out of practice.

In a potential NBA D-League first round playoff matchup, the Maine Red Claws allowed 63 points on 56 percent shooting in the first half against the Canton Charge, the Cleveland Cavaliers' D-League affiliate, eventually falling by a final of 110-99. On assignment from the Boston Celtics, point guard Demetrius Jackson and forward Jordan Mickey combined for 36 points against a Charge team that now sports the D-League's fifth best record, and has won nine out of its last 10 games played.  With Boston Celtics analyst, announcer, and former player, Brian Scalabrine in attendance, a halftime show featuring a trampoline and Lucky the Celtics mascot, as well as a Dancing Bear on the sidelines, there was an extra air of energy in the arena.

Down in the NBA D-League getting some seasoning, DeAndre' Bembry has all of the tools in the making to be a solid NBA contributor for the Atlanta Hawks for years to come. At 6'6, with nearly a seven-foot wingspan, Bembry can glide to the basket and get his shot off in a variety of ways. His heady play and a high IQ also make him a menace on defense, able to switch across the board. I spoke with Bembry following his quick stint for the D-League Salt Lake City Stars, just before he was shuttled away by a team spokesman to his plane, as Bembry was recalled by the Hawks Sunday afternoon. The Celtics D-League affiliate Maine Red Claws had three players, including Boston second-rounder Abdel Nader, named to the All-Star Game. Isaiah Thomas celebrated his 28th birthday with an appearance on SC6 on ESPN.

After leading the Maine Red Claws to two wins, Celtics rookie second-rounder Abdel Nader was named to the All-Showcase team at the NBA D-League Showcase. Isaiah Thomas received the NBA Cares Community Assist for December.

The Celtics are on their first losing streak in more than a month and may head into a four-games-in-five-days stretch without Avery Bradley.

After 18 seasons, 2,973 three-pointers, 10 All-Star appearances and two NBA titles, former Boston Celtic Ray Allen announced his retirement from the league Tuesday morning. Marcus Smart will make his season-debut Wednesday night. Abdel Nader and the Maine Red Claws opened NBA D-League training camp Tuesday in Portland.
