Over the past few weeks, there have been news headlines about Ariha Shah, a child of Indian parents, who was taken away by child care authorities in Germany after she had been hospitalised for an accidental injury. Despite no charges being filed against the parents, the baby was not returned to them. A diplomatic spat has now broken out between New Delhi and Berlin, and 59 Parliamentarians from 19 political parties have now written to the German Ambassador in India, asking for the child to be brought back to India. The case has echoes of the 2011 Sagarika Chakraborty case in Norway, recently made into the Rani Mukherjee-starring movie, Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. It also throws up questions about whether child protection services in Europe differ from those in India in their mechanisms.
On Just A Filmy Game Show, our host Antariksh Takkar, is joined by comedians and Pop-Culture nerds Rohan Joshi and Sahil Shah for a downright laugh riot of an episode. Come listen to Rohan and Sahil struggle to name Rani Mukherjee songs, guess the correct 'double role movie' from the 90's, and determine how much 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' could have made at the box office when it released in 1998. yes yes yes, we are late this week but that is because of a slight change in our programming. We now will give you our review not one week late but just in time for the releases. With that, this week - lets talk about Mrs Chatterjee v Norway that was a hard hitter by Rani Mukherjee in theaters. We will also introduce you to Sagarika Chakraborty later this week - who is the real life Mrs Chatterjee. Hear her story in our interview with her.Rocket Boys 2 on Sony Liv was one of the most fab series in its second season and The Storied Life of Aj Fikry was very disappointing. Wish we could have stayed at the level Novel. For now- listen to us.LoveAntara, Manu and Miraal, Supriya Desislive podcast delivers the latest movie and show reviews to your devices. Wherever in the world you are, tune in to desislive.
An Indian family moves to Norway for better opportunities and a better life but in a somber turn of events, their children are taken away by Norwegian Child Welfare Services (Barnevernet). This forms the crux of Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, based on the true story of Sagarika Chakraborty (and further based on her book 'The Journey of a Mother').Most of the film's emotional core rests on Mukerji's able shoulders as she emotes and acts with equal promise. The film's biggest flaw is that most of the themes it touches upon are cursory or anecdotal at best.Tune in to this episode for the full review!

It’s a mixed bag this week, with Anupama Chopra & Anmol Jamwal chatting about Bunty Aur Babli 2, Dhamaka, Garuda Gamana Vrisha Bhavana, Churuli & more.
It's a clever setup with enough potential to create a franchise, but the real downer is that the film wastes its younger pair – Siddhant Chaturvedi and debutant Sharvari Wagh. Watch the full review to know more.

We are joined once more by friend of the podcast Haroon Rashid (https://twitter.com/iHaroonRashid) of the BBC’s brand new podcast, Beyond Bollywood (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0984jkc) and he explains why this movie is a worthy successor to his all time favorite, Ishq, which he discussed last time. Co-starring Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee, this remake of the hit Sandra Bullock romcom WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING, stars Salman Khan at the peak of his powers. Khandaan: A Bollywood Podcast is back with Aamir Khan’s GHULAM (1998) for episode 84. Join us for a nostalgia-filled episode wherein we refamiliarize ourselves with this classic. Directed by Vikram Bhatt - a fact that stuns us in 2020 - this remake of ON THE WATERFRONT is a movie that has somehow never received its due. Harkening back to tropes explored across violent Hindi action movies, this is a clever take on Hindi film brotherhood and the fight of the underdog against overwhelming evil. Co-starring a very young Rani Mukherjee (sans her trademark voice), and an entire cast of talented supporting actors - Mita Vasisht, Dalip Tahil, Sharat Saxena, Dipak Tijori, Rajat Kapoor, Akshay Anand and Ashutosh Rana in a brief but devastating role - Ghulam is absolutely worth another look. Episode 34 of the Khandaan podcast is here for one last hurrah before we go on a short break for the month of April. Our special feature is 2001’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. Directed by Karan Johar, this is an old fashioned mega starrer of the kind rarely seen these days - with Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor (Khan), Johnny Lever, Farida Jalal, Sushma Seth, Achala Sachdev, and a special appearance by Rani Mukherjee. We threw open [our Curious Cat](https://curiouscat.me/khandaan) once again for this episode because we knew you would all have tons to say and ask about this movie and we were correct! It’s clearly not as much of a favorite as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai but it has definitely established itself as a fan favorite over the years, especially on the internet where it has a cult following - if something this big and successful could be called a cult film. We are joined for this episode by [our friend Ruchi](https://twitter.com/ruchi18) who definitely had a lot to say. This episode is being released with some quick thoughts on Sonchirya, Lukka Chuppi and Made In Heaven(although you can hear us discuss Made in Heaven with Ruchi here) but for the rest it's a giant episode for a giant film. Please point and laugh at all those weeping at the thought of a three-hour Avengers film. It's the first episode of 2019, and our hosts Abhinandan Sekhri and Rajyasree Sen discuss the Saudi Arabia-centric episode of Hasan Minhaj's Patriot Act, Netflix series Selection Day, and the Netflix special of Black Mirror's Bandersnatch, among other things.Rajyasree recommends the controversial Saudi Arabia of Patriot Act for its wit and timing. Both hosts disapprove of Netflix pulling the episode down in Saudi Arabia after a complaint from authorities. “It is a shame because rather than more information reaching places that were behind and Iron Curtained, it seems that the Iron Curtain is extending to places that didn't have one earlier,” says Abhinandan. They talk about the Netflix series Selection Day, based on a book by the same name by Aravind Adiga. Rajyasree summarises the plot and says she recommends it because you could probably watch the entire thing in a single sitting. She does however think the story was somewhat underdeveloped.Discussing the episode Bandersnatch from the Black Mirror series, Abhinandan is stridently against the concept, though Rajyasree found it entertaining. He says he doesn't endorse the episode's USP, which is the "cheap thrill" of being able to choose where the story goes. He says it seems to solely cater to video game fanatics, which is “a hell of a subset". He adds, "It was a lot of content consumption to cater to a gimmick.”Next, the pair review the Netflix thriller Bird Box, which had a record viewership in the first week of its release. “Watch it for the gruesomeness,” says Rajyshree, "if you're into that sort of thing." She says while she enjoyed the "graphic" cinematography, the film can be slightly unrealistic and tiresome with its overused dystopian-world, single-parent-protecting-the-children shindig.Moving away from the Netflix universe, Abhinandan and Rajyasree discuss Rajeev Masand's Actresses Roundtable 2018. They unanimously condemn Rani Mukherjee, saying she comes across as an under-informed, overly opinionated person who is self-aware of her superiority being “Aditya Chopra's wife, so she rules the roost,” says Rajyasree. Our hosts also talk about the recent passing of two artists: Kader Khan, whom Abhinandan calls “crass, but prolific” and praises him for being self-made, and filmmaker Mrinal Sen, of whose work Rajyasree has mixed views.Tune in for more! Aditya is a former investment banker and management consultant with a Finance degree from NYU Stern, but he left all that behind to join Pocket Aces, a digital media start-up best known for it's channels FilterCopy and Dice Media. After starting as a production intern, 3 months he was asked to take over as the Head of Video for FilterCopy. You might not have heard of Aditya himself but chances are that you must have seen many of the viral videos that he has produced on your Facebook and Youtube feeds. He has created several online popular videos, and worked with the likes of Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Ayushman Khurana and Rani Mukherjee.. Aditya’s shift from investment banking to the creative and media industry happened in a matter of 3 years. Episode 7 of the Khandaan Podcast finds co-hosts Asim, Sujoy and Amrita reunited to discuss Paheli (2005), starring Shahrukh Khan in a double role, Rani Mukherjee and a whole host of cameos from Juhi Chawla to Amitabh Bachchan. This Red Chillies Entertainment film was directed by Amol Palekar, the everyman of yesteryears’ parallel Hindi cinema, and was even India’s official entry to the Oscars for its year. Based on a short story about a bride and the ghost who loves her, Paheli made a lot of right noises about women’s empowerment and the right to choose. More than a decade on, we examine how those messages hold up. Sujoy declares Paheli the best film we have watched on this podcast thus far, while many of our listeners call it their favorite film, but Asim and Amrita play spoilsport. We also take a moment to discuss the passing of cinema legend Sridevi and the recent Bollywood release, the rather controversial hit Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety.
