Send us a textThis week on the Montana Outdoor Podcast your host Downrigger Dale has a very interesting discussion with Brian Wakeling, Game Management Bureau Chief for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Rigger received emails from a whole lot of you wanting more information about the new Mule Deer Management Plan that Brian and his staff are working on right now. Mule Deer are a VERY popular species to hunt here in Montana and a great deal of hunters and outdoor folks in general have been concerned about the decline in Mule Deer populations in many hunting districts across the state. Thus, one of the main reasons for the FWP developing a new management plan. So, what is a management plan anyway? Who decides what goes into the plan? What are the main issues facing Montana's Mule Deer? Is it just Chronic Wasting Disease or are there other issues that are causing population declines? Recently Brian and his staff conducted a series of public workshops across Montana to get input from folks across the state. Mainly they wanted to hear ideas and what folks would like to see in the New Management plan. So how did the workshops go? Those and many other questions will be answered when you listen to this fascinating podcast. So, what are you waiting for click that play button and give this week's podcast a listen! Today is the first time trying out the ShadowCast so that I can record the Switch directly into my PC, and I think it was a smashing success. As to the actual content: it's Breath Of The Wild! That instant-classic of a game that we're all familiar with. Recently Brian (of Milkin' It fame, While You Were Talking fame, and also Book Nookie fame) wanted to know more about how to have fun in Breath of the Wild so I figured that it was a perfect game to use to try out this new ShadowCast thing. Also, since Breath of the Wild seems to be enough of "a thing" now, I'm making it Season 25 of the podcast, and moving the Brian Of The Wild episodes over into that, and now this is Season 25, Episode 3. PS: here's all those other podcasts that I mentioned during the episode that you should check out: TroytlePower Presents: The Power Play-Throughs Podcast, with TroytlePower Versian Chronicles Questing On The Road Daniel K's Audio-only Let's Plays Oh, and you can sign up for my Patreon if you want.
Brian Holland is the proud husband of Ginney and father of Emily and Duke, and proud father-in-law to Zach (Emily) and Sinclaire (Duke). Through the 1980's Brian attended Samford University and finished his undergraduate degree at Mercer University. Throughout the 1990s Brian and Ginney moved 2 times as they followed ministry opportunities to Tupelo, Mississippi, and back to Atlanta. During that time, he finished his seminary work at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. After 20 years of serving as Youth Pastor of 3 churches, he founded the first Phoenix Community in Duluth, GA in a Pizza Pub called Pepperoni's Tavern. At the height of the economic collapse which swept through America from 2008-2013 Brian, along with his great friends and co-founders Jeff Bagwell and Greg Sweatt launched Phoenix Roasters, Inc. #CoffeeThatMatters. This would become the revenue engine that would fund the dream to see the broken and burnt rise up from the ashes of life both here in America and there in the coffee-growing communities around the world. Recently Brian and Phoenix Pastor Britt Mooney, along with all the Phoenix Community pastors published their first book, “Say Yes. How God-Sized Dreams Take Flight.” Chat Highlights How has God led you and the pastors of Phoenix Roasters to do church, business, and missions differently as well as recently publishing your book “Say Yes”? How Brian started his churches over to serve the broken vs the masses and a pivotal moment that gave him the confidence to start The Phoenix Community. How Brian and the pastors at The Phoenix Community became a marketplace ministry through coffee and why. Coach Brian Eskildsen shares his coaching journey from playing JV basketball at WT Woodson High School to becoming the top Assistant Coach at Harvard. Brian grew up in Fairfax, VA and attended WT Woodson High School where he was cut from the freshman team, led the JV team in scoring, and then was cut from the varsity team. After graduating in 2005 he attended Tennessee and tried to walk-on the team, after not making the team he began playing intramurals and caught the eye of the Lady Vols coaching staff. They invited him to be a practice player and serve on their "Scout Team". He shares some stories about the late Pat Summit and how he was a member of two NCAA National Champion teams. In 2009-10 Joe Pasternack hired him for his first college coaching job at the University of New Orleans as their Director of Basketball Operations, he plateaued that unpaid coaching job into a full time position at Stanford University working under Johnny Dawkins. After serving as their Video Coordinator and helping them to back to back NIT appearances - including winning the 2012 NIT Championship. After leaving to become an Assistant Coach at Rice University, Stanford benefited from the foundation he helped build and Stanford made the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. At Rice University they didn't have the level of success that they had hoped for, but he gained experience recruiting and working at another high academic college basketball program. Fellow WT Woodson graduate Tommy Amaker hired him to join the coaching staff at Harvard and they've gone on to have unprecedented success in Cambridge. Recently Brian was named one of the top assistant coaches in the Ivy League in a poll of Ivy League coaches. The Crimson are recruiting nationally ranked players and consistently playing in the postseason.

Join myself and Alan for 90 mins of pure photography joy!Brian's Celebrity PortraitsBrian's InstagramBrian's WebsiteBrian's TwitterAbout Brian...What was once a hobby and then a dream, became a reality in 2005 when I started my career as a professional photographer. I didn't know where it would take me, but I knew it would be the adventure of a lifetime. Photographing people and events has opened up my world beyond my wildest dreams. Making art from what I see has become a true calling, and one I strive to do better and better, shoot by shoot. Access is a privelege I take very seriously. Whether I am backstage at an event, in close proximity to a subject, or in the audience, my goal is to capture the true essence of what's happening before me. I love it, and I'll never stop doing it.Photographer Brian Friedman started out as a road manager for the legendary jazz drummer Roy Haynes. But it was during Haynes’ 20-city tour, that Brian began photographing Roy and discovered his passion for image making that put him on a road to a new career. Since then, he has sharpened his skills and his eye to become recognized as a photographer of choice by noted entertainment personalities, corporate leaders, event planners and discerning individuals. His clients include iHeartRadio, Clearchannel Communications, NBC, CBS, 20th Century Fox, and comedians Brian Regan and Bill Burr, to name a few. Brian’s images have appeared in The New York Times, USA Today, People, Playboy, The Economist, and Pollstar to name a few. In 2007-2008 Brian had the distinct honor of photographing Barack and Michelle Obama for the Obama for America campaign. Recently Brian was given a 5 page live concert photography spread in M Music & Musician’s magazine – a first for that publication. To all of these assignments, Brian brings the same level of imagination and creativity that has distinguished his vision and his work for more than a decade.
Brian Paul served in the Oklahoma National Guard 45th Infantry; when the Murrah Building was bombed in an act of domestic terrorism in 1995, he was deployed to the site and worked among other responders in the devastation, receiving the State Activation Medal and Humanitarian Medal. Desiring to continue serving the public, Brian became a career fire fighter and EMT. He had a great life with a beautiful wife, son, and home. The stress of shift work, poor sleep, and encountering death and trauma regularly at his busy station accumulated. This man once seen as a hero began to drink heavily. Brian's clarity of thought diminished, and he had difficulty thinking clearly on his calls--a crucial asset for emergency workers. Failing health due to alcoholism brought Brian close to death: his liver was damaged and his bone marrow was even shutting down. At the lowest point of his life--homeless and barely alive--Brian finally accepted lifesaving help through a 90-day rehabilitation facility, where he chose life. He was successful in this recovery effort because of his faith in a Higher Power, love for his son and mother, and his adherence to a proper treatment program. He founded Veterans 4 Life USA to help reach out to struggling men and women who are serving or have served in military or first responder professions that expose them to intense trauma and long-term stress. Recently Brian fulfilled his dream of playing semi-pro football, demonstrating the full recovery from his previous state: he is in shape, full of energy, and impassioned to help as many brothers and sisters fighting their own battles as possible. Fifteen years ago, while advancing a degree in Finance/Economics at David Lipscomb University, Brian came across an elusive reference to the Knights Templar. A single paragraph in a textbook set Brian's curious mind on researching topics relating to the esoteric and unexplained. Brian's findings lead him to become a Mason, achieving the 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rite. In 2006, Brian began sharing his findings on the Grail Seekers blog and website. Since then, Brian's articles have been featured on such websites as: CNN, Unexplained Mysteries, Coast to Coast AM, Red Ice Creations, and Daily Grail. His quest for hidden knowledge has taken Brian to various locations including Scotland, and France. The work done for Grail Seekers has been the topic of internet radio interviews and most notably the Pittsburgh area's Scottish Rite hosted Brian as a key note speaker. Along the way, Brian has been honored to discuss his views with Thomas Steinbeck, Patrice Chaplin (Charlie's daughter-in-law), Bruce Burgess (Bloodline Documentary) and Reverend Lionel Fanthorpe. Recently Brian has agreed to become co-host on the Unraveling the Secrets show on BlogTalk Radio. http://www.gravedistractions.com
