It is really cool to hear how he is constantly trying to push his players to see what they are truly capable of. As Coach Adam says: “To see their path before they even do.” How did Adam learn this? Of course, coaches in his life helped him envision becoming a successful coach. Wait until you hear the term: "Building Sweat Equity." A great reminder that if we truly want to help the players we coach get better, we have to invest the time with them. It was also very refreshing to hear Coach Adam talk about how he treats his players as equals. At the core, he is constantly trying to earn their trust by simply listening to them. Being an authentic and genuine person is really important to Coach Adam Call. And, no doubt after listening to this conversation, you will know that Coach Adam accomplishes this goal. Coach Jake Presutti's Story: In this episode, you'll hear from Jake Presutti. Jake is currently the Assistant Athletic Director of Scouting for Coach Jeff Capel at the University of Pittsburgh. Jake is coming off seven great seasons with Coach Steve Wojciechowski at Marquette University. At Marquette, Jake held roles as Assistant Coach, Director of Basketball Operations and Video Coordinator. In addition, to Jake's terrific run for Coach Wojo, Jake has experience working for the Houston Rockets, Syracuse, Eastern Michigan and USA Basketball. Right away, you are going to find out that Coach Presutti is an active learner. This growth mindset is something that Jake learned from his college coach: Jim Boeheim. Jake credits Coach Boeheim as one of the best active learners that he has ever been around. In addition, Jake depicts how Coach Boeheim keeps the game so simple for his staff and players. Jake also does an amazing job describing how Coach Wojo gave his assistants the freedom to grow. At the core of Jake's current coaching philosophy is his belief that it is imperative that you “Run Your Own Race” and “Be Where Your Feet Are.” This mindset of being a “star” in your current position and bringing value every day to your boss, staff, and players. Finally, Jake so honestly and eloquently shared the challenges he faced in between positions this summer. It is an honest perspective for young coaches to understand the reality of transition and a tremendous real-life example of how you have to stay ready and believe that the best is truly to come. For Coach Jake, the best is for sure to come for this talented coach!
