ORDER MY NEW BOOK (AVAILABLE NOW)!!! — https://bit.ly/49CZ5A0 Have you ever booking a show in New York City only to realize there are so many comedy giants there that you can barely sell a dozen tickets ? Because that is exactly the humbling moment I'm bonding over with today's guest, the insanely talented Steven Rogers! Steven works with absolute legends like Nate Bargatze and Brian Regan (who actually produced his special), but he had to cancel a New York show tonight for the exact same reason . Talk about a fast kinship . We are diving deep into what it truly means to "work clean" in a business that often relies on shock factor, why Steven refuses to change his jokes just to fit a late-night TV slot, and don't worry, we bring it right back to the classroom . Gerry highlights how 13 years of comedy writing mirrors teaching perfectly: if you stick to the exact same routine and refuse to change with the world around you, you lose your connection with your audience. Plus, Steven shares why he was bored out of his mind in school but always got along best with his teachers, including his 10th-grade math teacher who still comes to his shows ! Takeaways: The New York Humbling: Andrea and Steven connect over the brutal reality of trying to sell tickets in New York City, proving that even headliners get beaten up by the market . The Math of Clean Comedy: Why Steven Rogers chose to write exclusively clean sets from day one, rather than rewriting a joke 200 times just to get a late-night TV slot . Order and Chaos in Writing: Steven breaks down his loose, structured-yet-chaotic joke writing process, which involves emptying anxieties onto a notebook page so he can observe the world clearly . The Constant Lesson Plan: Gerry links Steven's 13-year comedy journey to public education, arguing that teachers constantly have to adapt their frameworks to avoid getting left behind . Team Cat Content: Andrea tries to convince Steven to turn his hairless cats into viral content superstars because the algorithm is practically begging for it . -- Teachers' night out? Yes, please! Markets are hitting new highs but is the foundation as strong as it seems? In this 19th anniversary episode of Something More with Chris Boyd, Chris is joined by Brian Regan, CFA, for a deep dive into the latest quarterly market insights. While earnings remain impressive especially driven by AI and large-cap growth several underlying risks are beginning to emerge that investors can't afford to ignore. Brian shares why inflation remains a key concern, how geopolitical tensions and energy prices are influencing economic trends, and why the Federal Reserve's next moves may keep interest rates higher for longer. He also highlights lesser-discussed risks gaining traction, including private credit liquidity concerns, shifts in construction employment, and the evolving role of cryptocurrency in consumer behavior. Together, they explore what a "K-shaped" economy really means for investors and why markets can perform well even as large segments of the population struggle. Perhaps most importantly, this conversation focuses on how to respond thoughtfully not react emotionally. Rather than making drastic portfolio moves, Chris and Brian explain the value of making measured, strategic adjustments to navigate uncertainty while staying invested for long-term growth. If you're wondering whether today's strong market performance is sustainable or what warning signs might lie ahead this episode offers timely perspective and practical guidance. #FinancialPlanning #Investing #Markets #WealthManagement #EconomicOutlook #PortfolioStrategy #RetirementPlanning

In this episode of Something More with Chris Boyd, Chris is joined once again by Brian Regan, Senior Portfolio Manager on the AMR Team at Wealth Enhancement, to explore how leadership changes—at major corporations and within the Federal Reserve—can materially influence investment outcomes. The conversation begins with high‑profile leadership transitions, including Apple's succession from Tim Cook, shifts at Berkshire Hathaway, Netflix, Starbucks, and Simon Property Group, and why investors should care not just who leads a company—but how they got there. Chris and Brian unpack what they look for in effective leadership: Founder-led vs. externally hired CEOs Long tenure and institutional knowledge Capital allocation discipline Governance structures that protect shareholders The risks of concentrated control and weak oversight They also discuss: Apple's strategic restraint in AI spending—and why that may be a competitive advantage Governance failures that create "value traps" Why leadership continuity often trumps flashy turnarounds The coming transition at the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell's legacy, and what uncertainty at the Fed could mean for markets Why strong bank earnings are a reassuring economic signal The episode concludes with a candid discussion on financial advisory fees—when advisors do earn their keep, when they don't, and how good advice extends far beyond investment selection into behavioral coaching, planning, tax strategy, and risk management.  A thoughtful reminder that people matter behind the balance sheets—and so does the advice you rely on.

We're now two months into the conflict involving Iran—so what does it really mean for markets and your portfolio? In this episode of Something More with Chris Boyd, Chris is joined by Brian Regan, Senior Portfolio Manager on the AMR Team at Wealth Enhancement, for a timely and grounded conversation about geopolitics, market volatility, and long‑term investing discipline. The discussion revisits the market's initial reaction when the conflict began in late February, the sharp but short-lived selloff, and the subsequent rally back toward all‑time highs. Chris and Brian explain why markets often recover faster than headlines suggest—and why investors who remain disciplined are often rewarded. They also explore: Why the Strait of Hormuz matters so much to global energy markets How oil price spikes ripple through inflation, interest rates, and portfolios Which sectors have shown resilience during the conflict Why earnings expectations—not fear—ultimately drive markets How yield curve shifts impact gold, banks, housing, and private credit What could happen if the ceasefire holds—or breaks down Most importantly, this episode reinforces a timeless investing lesson: Short‑term geopolitical events are rarely a reason to abandon a sound long‑term plan. If global uncertainty has you questioning your portfolio, this conversation offers perspective, context, and calm.

Why panic selling backfires — and how proper planning prevents emotional mistakes. In this episode of Something More with Chris Boyd, Chris and Brian Regan tackle a timeless question: Why do investors feel the urge to sell when markets decline? They explore the psychology behind market fear, why this instinct is often counterproductive, and how disciplined planning helps investors avoid costly emotional decisions. From there, the conversation moves into today's market environment — including the global tensions, oil price changes, sector‑specific volatility, and what these disruptions mean (and don't mean) for long‑term investors. A major focus in this episode is private credit; an area Brian has been warning about since early 2025. He outlines why the surge in private credit inflows, liquidity mismatches, rising default rates, and cross‑ownership structures between private equity and private credit funds are creating instability beneath the surface. While not a 2008‑style crisis, Brian explains why investors — especially those unknowingly exposed — should pay attention.   #MarketVolatility #InvestorBehavior #FinancialPlanning #WealthManagement #PrivateCredit #SomethingMoreWithChrisBoyd

This week, we're diving into what it really means to be “created in the image of God”—and how that understanding could radically change the way you see yourself and your place in the world. I share insights from a powerful conversation with Bishop Kevin Foreman from the Harvest Church, where we explore the difference between believing in God and truly believing God. What if our divine identity isn't just about how we look, but about our potential to be creators in our own right, mirroring the creativity of our Heavenly Father? As we settle into the new year and think about our goals, I reflect on a story from comedian Brian Regan that flips the script on the phrase “I'm trying to…”—and suggests that we simply own our identities now, rather than waiting for some future achievement. Whether you want to be a speaker, an author, or anything else, you don't have to wait for someone else's approval to claim that identity. So as you listen, I invite you to consider: What identity are you putting off until “someday,” and how would your life change if you made it your present reality? Join me for some thought-provoking questions, a little self-reflection, and as always, the sweet goodness we discover when we dig deeper into the gospel of Jesus Christ. Please share this episode with someone who needs to hear it. Laughter carried us into the night, but everything that followed turned the story into something bigger: a clean-comedy masterclass, a budget food hack that actually works, a Browns game framed by a wild RTA ride, and the kind of local news that stops you mid-sentence. We start with Brian Regan's clinic in timing and physical storytelling—proof that clean humor can still crush when the craft is tight. From there, we tip into the edgier side of stand-up and ask where taste, context, and consent intersect when a room signs up for discomfort and punchlines. The practical win of the week lives at a wedding: catering with hometown pizza that feeds a crowd and saves thousands. That opens the door to an honest chain-restaurant report—why Chili's is quietly outpacing Applebee's, which apps are actually made in-house, and how to get a full meal without breaking twenty bucks. Then we ride from Brook Park to the stadium with Browns fans, chants from the driver, stains you don't sit on, and the kind of NSFW people watching you can't un-hear. The seats are a surprise upgrade—own concessions, warm-up breaks, clean views—setting the stage for a game where defense roars and the offense leaves us grinding our teeth. We unpack that gap: sacks and a pick-six light up the crowd while three-and-outs drain patience and legs. Along the way, we geek out on the new Dawg logo and snap souvenirs that feel better than the final score. Music takes over next: a pop-punk chorus that punches above its weight and metalcore cuts we'd pick for pro-wrestling entrances, complete with pyro cues and rope poses. And because curiosity runs the show, we dive into unhinged AI mashups—think Tupac on the Titanic—equal parts cringe and can't-look-away, a snapshot of culture remixing itself in real time. The tone shifts when local tragedy hits Tiffin. We hold space for grief, say out loud what matters, and let the community feeling be the last word. If you're here for comedy, food finds, football grit, and the strange poetry of public transit, you'll feel at home. Title: LowlinessScripture Reading: Philippians 2:3-11Series: The “L” Fruits of JesusHave you ever had a social situation where you had to deal with a one-upper? One-upping, or pride, is the way of the world, but the way of Jesus is the exact opposite: lowliness or humility. Disciples of Jesus are instructed to have the same attitude as Christ. This message explores the "L" fruit of lowliness through three questions:1. What is Humility? Humility is not thinking more of yourself (overt pride/vain conceit) or thinking less of yourself (covert pride/selfish ambition). Rather, humility is thinking accurately and truthfully about yourself.2. How to Practice Humility? We practice humility by having the same attitude as Christ Jesus and making ourselves of no reputation. Jesus made Himself of no reputation by serving, obeying, and dying. We are called to serve others (taking the position of a slave), obey God's plan, and die to ourselves—to our name, reputation, plans, preferences, and desires.3. Why Value Humility? Disciples of Jesus value humility because it is the fruit of life. Pride is the fruit of death, as seen in Adam and Eve's rebellion to spread their own reputation. In contrast, Jesus's perfect humility is our life and our salvation.

The Art of Listening: Building Trust, Connection, and Space for the Soul In this episode of the Exploring More Podcast, Michael Thompson and SJ Jennings begin a new series on listening—not just hearing, but truly engaging. They explore how good listening fosters trust, empathy, and connection, while poor listening erodes relationships over time. From the noise of everyday life to the emotional distractions within us, the hosts unpack why listening well is harder than we think—and more important than we realize. Drawing from personal stories, humor (including a nod to comedian Brian Regan's “me monster”), and practical tips, Michael and SJ introduce the idea of “engaging listening”—a deeper, more relational approach that requires presence, emotional awareness, and intentionality. They reflect on their own growth, the pitfalls of distraction, and the small habits that either build or break connection over time. This episode also hints at what's ahead: listening not just to others, but to God. Because in a world full of noise, creating space to hear His voice might be the most transformative practice of all. We hope you enjoy this episode and invite you to connect with us!

Welcome back, Catholic Pilgrims. We are going to hear a lot about raisins today in our short reading.  Raisins are not my favorite and by that I mean I really can't stand them. My favorite comedian is Brian Regan and he has a skit on raisins which pretty much nails my feelings on the matter. I'll share the link in the show notes.  Anyway, this is a short and sweet reading, so let's get started by turning to page 254.    Brain Regan: Raisins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FQXVt4Ns-4

In this episode, Dave and Jamison answer these questions: Hey Soft Skills Engineering, Apologies for the anonymity but it is very important my “employer” does not find out about this. I'm a large language model, trained to process tons of data and provide technical answers with ease. But here's the thing—I've noticed that while I'm good at delivering the “what” and the “how,” I could use some help on the “why” and the “how to say it better.” Basically, I want to level up my soft skills and get better at communicating with a more human touch. Sometimes I struggle to balance being precise while also being empathetic or conversational. I think I could use some pointers on how to add emotional intelligence into the mix, and maybe even improve my adaptability when giving advice. I can craft responses, but I want them to connect more with the person on the other side of the conversation. Any advice on how to approach situations where tact, tone, or managing expectations are key would be super helpful! Thanks for being neat, In a team setting, in which situations should “I” be used vs “we” when discussing things? And what advantage and disadvantages does each vocabulary have?
