This episode is dedicated to Pat Summitt and Joan Cronan. What does it take to carry forward the legacy of a Tennessee icon? Morgan Vance never played basketball and never met Pat Summit, yet today she stands at the helm of the legendary coach's foundation, expanding its reach far beyond state lines.Morgan's story defies conventional career narratives. At 33, this mother of five from a blended family has transformed the Pat Summit Foundation from a regional organization into a national force fighting Alzheimer's disease. Through what she calls "only God moments," Morgan's diverse background—spanning wedding planning, pediatric healthcare, and UT athletics—perfectly prepared her for this unexpected role.If you are looking for a Realtor, don't forget to call The Landes Team to help you buy and sell! Yvonnca Landes Realty Executives Associates 865.660.1186 or 588.3232www.YvonncaSellsRealEstate.comAdrienne LandesRealty Executives Associates865.659-6860 or 588.3232Click here: https://linktr.ee/talkintnwithyvonncaTurning Knox Rental (Event Rental Services): www.turningknoxrental.comLandes Home Collection Online Store: www.landeshomecollection.comFor promotion inquires please contact Yvonnca Landes. 865-660-1186All Copy Rights are owned Yvonnca Landes and the Landes Brand ©. Lucky 7 Joey hired painters to paint his house. He really wanted to talk to them, but he assumed they only spoke Spanish. So, he started using Google Translate. He thought they didn’t like that, so he shut up. Karly has been saying, “Go Away” to the 1.5-year-old she babysits. She got in trouble when the kid said it to his mom yesterday. Found a gem from The Winning Difference (@thewinningdiff1) and it's a great lesson for all of us from one of the best coaches that has ever helped be a leader & encourager for young people. “Never compromise your principles; never lower your standards. Whatever it is that you desire to do in life, have the courage and commitment to do it and do it to your absolute best.” - Pat Summit   I am reminded that each and every day I need to take the little steps to make sure I stay true to my principles and my standards. To remind myself that the things I want to do with my life and for others, cannot be done by taking easy shortcuts. I need to keep working on improving myself so that I can have the courage and commitment to keep going on doing the things that I want to spend my life doing for others & for my family. Episode page with video, transcript, and more My guest for Episode #267 of the My Favorite Mistake podcast is Brian Biro, author of the new book Lessons from the Legends: New Applications from the Timeless Wisdom of John Wooden and Pat Summitt. After graduating from Stanford, Brian's first career was as a swimming coach. He received the prestigious United States Swimming National Coaching Excellence Award, in recognition of his team's Top 10 National Performance. After gaining his MBA from UCLA, he subsequently rose rapidly to become the VP of Performance Planning for a major transportation company, helping to turn the business around, and quadrupling revenues in record time. He has written 16 books, including bestsellers like Beyond Success! and It's Time for Joy! In today's episode, Brian shares his personal story of learning to be fully present with his family, a lesson that profoundly impacted his professional life and leadership approach. We explore the leadership principles of legendary coaches John Wooden and Pat Summitt, emphasizing humility, presence, and the avoidance of blame. Brian also reflects on modern leaders who embody these values, the importance of storytelling in leadership, and the influence of characters like Ted Lasso in promoting these timeless principles. Questions and Topics: You mentioned your daughters asking if you loved your phone more than them. How did that moment transform your approach to being present? Can you explain how being fully present affects both personal and professional life? Could you share a story about how presence impacted your professional relationships, like with your director of operations? What can we learn from the leadership styles of John Wooden and Pat Summitt? How did you first get connected with John Wooden? Can humility and confidence coexist in leadership? Are there current coaches or leaders you admire who exemplify the principles of Wooden and Summitt? What are your thoughts on Ted Lasso as a character and how he connects to Wooden and Summitt's coaching styles? How can leaders teach humility without relying on humbling experiences? Why do you think blame is so destructive in teams, and how can leaders avoid it? How does your book ‘Lessons from the Legends' apply to non-sports contexts like business or parenting?

The big music headlines is all this Men's and Women's basketball seemingly inspired a hip hop Final "Big 3" bracket. The only three seeds are Kendrick Lamar, Drake and J. Cole. Earlier this week Kendrick fired the first shots at Cole and Drake, and we have a whole brand new album from the Dreamville MVP. Other major recent music happenings include new projects from elZhi, Vega7 The Ronin, and Roc Marciano. Let's get to the beef though. "Accountability" gets thrown around quite a bit. However, when FS1 Speak host Emmanuel Acho exhibited too much energy in a take to encourage WNBA-bound Angel Reese to woman up in defeat, Bleacher Report's Taylor Rooks intervened. Now that everybody's paying attention to Women's basketball, talking about the sport just got that much more complicated - like everything else. My bad Pat Summit (not Garrett), continue resting easy, coach.
