Week 138: After Greece

Recorded Friday 18.06.2021 11:50 PM I start this off with a little Arabic because I feel like it and it is my native tongue, and then I describe my time in Greece and current experiences. This is one of the longer episodes I do where I go through the different things and feelings that I went through and happened. Really opened up my creative gates again in its own way. I think, maybe, the only things I did not mention were how incredible it was that I ran into someone I deemed important in that way, in a trip where a million things happened to get me to be at that point (like asking the attendees at the museum questions about going in or out and really being there at that point then, and also her as well). But you appreciate alignments when they happen and you move in the world as everything is moving, but you try so far as it is possible to move as yourself. To that truth. I also think peanut butter is an interesting thing to indulge in in general, which is something I have been going through but have not talked about. Not sure if it helps me hit my calorie count or remove the energy that I have because it is such a dense thing that really hits. Otherwise, I spent yesterday (Saturday) getting high, working out with Johannes and Viktor online "TAKE OFF YOUR SHIRT KHALID, RIGHT NOW", catching up with my childhood friend Deena about love topics, guys and girls, religious people and hiking, I watched half of Elite season 4 (which helps me brush on my Spanish like crazy) and found it interesting how they managed to continue writing this stuff with the characters. All in all a great day, would have been great to top it all off with a final rendezvous at the gym and done some basic cardio, I had a moment in bed where if I got up I would have been rested as though it was a nap, gone to the gym and back, and continued sleeping. But I'm up early today, and I'm excited and grateful to face the day and be myself. I will email my boss about alternatives and ideas to do good work, and let us see what happens. The world is happening and I'm here gratefully alive. Let us reach more and more completion. And see the fruits of our being and labor come together and away. Let us wait on Jude. And let us wait on ourselves to come back with clear vision and will (playful or otherwise) that we can to our writing). All the best, Khalid

Diocese of Lansing Podcast #11: Realigning Resources for Mission with Father Mathias Thelen

Diocese of Lansing

In the Fall of 2019, Bishop Earl Boyea assembled a 14-person committee, consisting of both laity and clergy, to help him chart a new way forward for the Diocese of Lansing. Entitled the Realign Resources for Mission Committee, the group is chaired by Father Mathias Thelen, Pastor of Saint Patrick Parish in Brighton.Over the past year his group has consulted with numerous other dioceses across the United States and beyond to study various approaches to restructuring. They have also amassed a huge amount of data assessing the apostolic life of the Diocese of Lansing. This includes a detailed survey of over 21,000 lay people, known as the Disciple Maker Index, which was conducted across all 72 parishes. Meanwhile, the priests of the diocese participated in a similar in-depth exercise known as Called for More. Both surveys were facilitated by the Pennsylvania-based Catholic Leadership Institute.Yesterday saw the committee's findings presented to the priests of the Diocese of Lansing during a one-day gathering at Saint Patrick Parish in Brighton. The next step, said Father Mathias, is to similarly consult with the lay faithful of the diocese during a series of parish meetings from November 16 to December 17.Father Mathias was keen to stress that his committee is still someway off from drafting a blueprint for the re-organization of parish boundaries and that any such blueprint would only be developed in consultation with both the clergy and lay faithful of the diocese. He also stressed that any changes in parishes boundaries, including any potential reduction in the number of parishes, did not automatically necessitate a change or reduction in the number of churches or “worship sites” within the diocese. However, he did want to present a general vision of renewed parish life. So what is that vision? What will it change? Will it make any difference to how parishes evangelize? How can the laity input to the Realign Resources for Mission Committee? They are just some of the question put to Father Mathias during this Diocese of Lansing Podcast. Asking the questions is David Kerr, Director of Communications for the Diocese of Lansing.* Diocese of Lansing Podcast #11. Recorded Friday, October 2, Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels.
