It's like buses. You don't see one for ages and then 2 come along at once! But seriously, Christmas dinner at the Dunworth's must be an interesting experience. Michael is the time travelling bitcoiner, that has locked Bitcoin in 2140 to ensure miners still have an incentive to mine even once the final block reward is issued. That's a great story – it's a wonderful story – but you may have heard it at Bitcoin Alive, a bush bash or on another podcast that Michael has done (we'd recommend EP96 of Meyrick's Dabbling Path, EP5 with Discovering Bitcoin and the recent release from The Why Bitcoin Show). We've delayed doing this one, because frankly we didn't know what we could add, but once we realised the answer to that was Nothing, we decided to just get together and shoot the shit because he's a fun bloke to share a beer with. In today’s seminar Saifedean talks to regular seminar attendees about the Bitcoin Mining Council: a recently formed group of North American bitcoin miners that aims to “promote energy usage transparency [and] accelerate sustainability initiatives worldwide.” They discuss why centralized attempts to alter bitcoin are unlikely to succeed without broad community consensus, what we can learn from the proposed SegWit2x software upgrade of 2017, and why the claims of some popular green energy initiatives are dubious. Ask the wrong question or fall on the wrong side of an argument; the community can be vicious in its response. It is a daunting place with Bitcoiners not only clashing with altcoin projects but with each other regarding Bitcoin ideas too. Rarely a day passes without a fight of some kind exploding on Twitter. However, toxicity plays an important role. Bitcoin is a threat to the legacy financial system, and being decentralised; anyone can contribute. Bitcoin is therefore open to a broad range of attacks from technical to social and Bitcoin's immune system defends against these attacks to protect the protocol. Segwit2x highlighted how a group might choose to co opt Bitcoin with dangerous consequences. Radical scepticism is levelled against other projects, people and companies to ensure that no outside party can have a negative influence on the future of the best money we have ever had. So, what are the positives and negatives of toxicity in Bitcoin? When does toxicity cross the line and are there any unintended consequences? In this interview, I am joined by Bitcoin consultant and educator Giacomo Zucco and Neil Woodfine, Marketing Director for Blockstream. We discuss toxic Bitcoin maximalism, unintended consequences and politics within Bitcoin.

SegWit2x, Part 3Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
On August 1st, 2017, Bitcoin forked. But it wasn't the SegWit2x fork everyone was talking about - It was a different fork, supported by a coalition of miners who, in doing what they were doing, were essentially ditching SegWit2x in favor of their own scaling solution. What happened here? Who betrayed SegWit2x? The post SegWit2x, Part 3 appeared first on Malicious Life.
SegWit2x Part 2Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
SegWit2x was proposed as a solution to Bitcoin's network problems - but some people in the anti-2x movement claimed that it is nothing less than a cyber-attack: a 51% attack on Bitcoin, to be precise. This is getting ugly. The post SegWit2x, Part 2 appeared first on Malicious Life.
SegWit2x, or - The Year Bitcoiners Will Never ForgetAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
In 2017, Bitcoin was winning. Money, attention, success poured out of every seam. It appeared that a golden age had dawned. But just under the surface, the network was teetering on the verge of collapse. Technical problems that were just nuisances when the community was small now became glaring and potentially lethal. Debates among tight communities of knowledgeable users and developers ballooned into full-on internet wars. Factions hardened. Heroes became enemies of the people. The post SegWit2x, or – The Year Bitcoiners Will Never Forget, Part 1 appeared first on Malicious Life.
The Reckless Duo is back once again, discussing important issues like the Taproot Review Study Groups and SNICKER, and silly issues like debating shitcoiners, apologizing for Segwit2X, and investing in DeFi
Roger Ver used to be Bitcoin's biggest advocate. Now he is a divisive figure in the community. Today we discuss the Bitcoin Cash hard fork, his falling out with Craig that led to Bitcoin Satoshi Vision, what it would take for Roger to return to Bitcoin, issuing tokens on Bitcoin Cash, censorship, Segwit2x & the scaling debate. Growing up in Argentina, Wences Casares saw his family lose all their money three times due to actions by the government. The so-called "patient zero" of Bitcoin in Silicon Valley explains why he believes that experience predisposed him to seeing the potential in Bitcoin earlier than most people, why it's so hard to explain Bitcoin to Americans and why the company he founded, Xapo, isn't just a Bitcoin vault and wallet company but his best effort at helping to ensure that Bitcoin succeeds. He talks about why he isn't scared of all the new competitors to his service, including Coinbase Custody, why Xapo hasn't branched out into any other crypto assets, and why he believes there's a more than 50% chance that Bitcoin is worth $1 million in five to ten years. Additionally, he still believes the attempt to accommodate more transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain with the SegWit2x fork, which he backed, was wrong -- even though the fees after its failure skyrocketed to as high as $60. Plus -- he reveals what it would look like if Bitcoin became a global standard of value, and why that vision doesn't threaten governments. Thank you to our sponsors! I am joined again by Ryan Charles to discuss the current state of the Bitcoin Cash network. After the failure of the Segwit2x proposal to scale Bitcoin, a significant percentage of early adopters have moved onto the Bitcoin Cash network, and progress is happening fast. In fact, as of this interview, I've decided to only support Bitcoin Cash addresses for my work, and I've decided to write my next book on Bitcoin, called "The First Fork: From Bitcoin to Bitcoin Cash."

Blockchain Innovation: Interviewing The Brightest Minds In Blockchain
Emin Gün Sirer is a Professor of Computer Science at Cornell University and Co-director of IC3 (Initiative for Cryptocurrencies and Contracts) He has made numerous contributions to both Bitcoin & Ethereum. His research spans, networking, distributed systems, and operating systems. Professor Sirer created Karma – the first cryptocurrency to use a distributed mint-based proof-of-work – 6 years before Bitcoin existed. In this episode, we discuss: Emin’s invention – Karma – the first decentralized cryptocurrency pre-dating Bitcoin The pros and cons of Segwit2x (which has now been abandoned) Little-known aspects of Bitcoin’s architecture and history such as the Bitcoin Relay, Falcon, and Fiber networks, selfish mining, the lightning network, sidechains, and much more We also discuss some of the relatively unknown academics who contributed the theoretical foundations to what we now know as Bitcoin
A lot has happened since the last time Steve spoke with his friend Andy Ofiesh, comedian and former Software Engineer at Bitcoin Armory (his brother's company). In fact, a lot has happened since they recorded this episode only two weeks ago. Namely that the price of Bitcoin has skyrocketed from $2,600 to $10K! This time, the conversation is all about Bitcoin—and about the November 17th "crash" that occurred after the cancellation of the SegWit2x hard fork. You'll learn what caused the dip in the price of Bitcoin and why it has the tendency to behave with such volatility. Plus, Andy and Steve discuss the following: What is a hard fork? What is the SegWit2x fork? How does a Bitcoin hard fork differ from the standard definition of a hard fork? What is Bitcoin Armory and what do they do? What does giant Polynesian stone currency have to do with Bitcoin? Is there a limit to how many Bitcoin will be produced? What is the significance of this limit? Why did Bitcoin need to double the block size? What’s the difference between Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash? What might cause Bitcoin to become centralized? Why is Etherium is not doing as well as Bitcoin? Who wrote the original white paper / Who is Satoshi Nakamoto? How much of the world’s energy is Bitcoin consuming and how does this affect the price of Bitcoin? How many times may a Bitcoin be subdivided? What does the future hold for Bitcoin? Is there a limit to Bitcoin’s potential value? If you missed it, be sure to listen to Part I of this series, all about Blockchain. Links in this episode: Rai Stones

Welcome to an unusual show for us in recent weeks, as a new bitcoin high doesn't feature as our lead story! Getting us off the mark, the guys explore the new Bitcoin futures option from LedgerX priced at $10,000. Why did someone buy it, and could we be buying too? Next up, SegWit2x is back in the news, but having been called off last week, how has it caused some nodes to stumble? And our story of the week - the CME Group has announced that it'll launch Bitcoin futures. So does this represent Wall Street advancing on Bitcoin, or is it bringing crypto ever-closer to the mainstream? Answers on a postcard, please do let us know what you think @colingplatt (https://twitter.com/colingplatt?lang=en) or @sytaylor (https://twitter.com/sytaylor?lang=en).] WTF Colin G Platt? Could your next trip to the cinema feature a blockbuster funded by crypto? If everything goes to plan for one Hollywood producer, then absolutely! So, will Hollywood become the next industry to be disrupted by DLT? And R3 founder and CEO David Rutter has spoken about why 2018 is a key year for him, and what it'll take to make it a success. So what do the guys think? We also bring you a roundtable on the state of blockchain recorded live at the ConsenSys launch part in Shoreditch, London, featuring Alex Batlin and Ed Budd from ConsenSys, Lawrence Lundy from Outlier Ventures, and Charlene Chen from BitPesa. The guys discuss where we are with distributed ledger technology (DLT), the impact it's had on financial services and where it's heading. Simon also caught up with Jeremy Millar about ConsenSys' plans for growth and their move to London. We hope you enjoy the show and, as ever, don't forget to subscribe. On tonight's episode of "The Crypto Show," we talk with Roger Ver for the first half of the show. We discuss Bitcoin Cash, the prospects for the demise and success of Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Cash, respectively, and how quickly Bitcoin Cash may be a crypto game-changer. We ask Roger his opinion as to the failure of Segwit2x, as well as the possible motivations behind the failure of Bitcoin Core to remedy Bitcoin's technical issues. We discuss Bitcoin.com's mining pool and its impressive built-in ability to switch between BTC and BCH mining automatically depending on profitability. We also query Roger concerning the unusual price moves in BTC and BCH, and what he has done with his own Bitcoin holdings since the advent of Bitcoin Cash. And more. In the second hour, Danny and I discuss his already-in-motion trip to Mexico, his goals while down there, and his trip next month to the Latin American Bitcoin Conference in Bogota, Colombia, and a visit to Caracas, Venezuela. We also discuss upcoming Anarchapulco and highlight some of the amazing speakers who will be in attendance. **Sponsored by:** [Dash](http://Dash.org), [CryptoCompare](http://pcryptocompare.com) and [Defense Distributed](http://defdist.org) **Links** [LogosRadioNetwork](https://LogosRadioNetwork.com) https://www.amazon.com/dp/1119365597/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_IQPczbQHWJKP8 [TheCryptoShow](http://TheCryptoShow.com) [FreeRoss](http://FreeRoss.org) **Social Media ** [The Crypto Show on Facebook](http://facebook.com/thecryptoshow) [@TheCryptoShow](https://Twitter.com/TheCryptoShow) [@The_Crypto_Show](https://Twitter.com/The_Crypto_Show) [@the_crypto_show instagram](https://instagram.com/the_crypto_show) [The Crypto Show YouTube](https://youtube.com/channel/UCH720dsEFqx0gYyQrLZHCEQ) **Tip with Crypto** BTC: 139R6K7fxTYaFf2aXTid84Le1ayqMVvSCq Dash: XqDeHnokQocBpvffsa2dWz8mX7oTKpoKzc LTC: LUTJtk4QqXLiDkK8pDKK3jM73VVwbp7oSr Doge: DQBJ7PSpFzUTwpBrny46Kug4BW8AGtq1YQ LTBC: 1CevFxMT6srBtTkWx2qrNaJmjtgxbo7pBA ,,, ETH: 0x10cfd6916832566e82b3ab38cc6741dfd7e6164fo
Ep. 78 - Trend Following with Hedge Fund Manager Mike Melissinos Trade 5 Cryptocurrency CFDs with XTB and get a 15% spread rebate - exclusive to TBT listeners! www.twoblokestrading.com/crypto In this episode: Tom and Owen have got off to a flying start in the crypto competition Well, one of us is flying up and one is flying down... Listen to find out which! We are pleased to see that about 70% of active traders in the competition are making money Mike Melissinos, trend following hedge fund manager, is on the show to keep us grounded He demonstrates how you can stick to your trading plan even in tough circumstances And make hay when the sun shines! Trader Interview - Mike Melissinos - Trend Following Hedge Fund Manager Mike Melissinos is only a few years older than us, but he runs a hedge fund. That is pretty cool. He’s a dyed-in-the-wool trend following trader and is a fan and friend of Turtle Trader and trend following legend Jerry Parker. Mike talks to us about what it is like to be on top of the world when the markets are working for your trading style, and how to keep the faith when the markets just aren’t conducive to making money. Trend following is a notoriously cyclical way of trading. Sometimes markets are trending, sometimes they just are not. Mike keeps the faith because he has done his research. He has done his maths and he knows that trends cluster, and when times are good they are very good. He also knows that trend following mega markets usually directly follow extended flat periods. It is no secret that we are currently in a flat period and that trend followers are suffering, particularly in commodities. But, Mike knows that the good times could be just around the corner, so he keeps the faith. Crypto Trading Competition Update It has been really pleasing to see so many people to get off to a positive start in the crypto competition. Despite there being no leverage available, one trader is up over 20% in the first 6 days. Many others are in double digits and about 70% of active traders overall are making money. There is plenty of distance to go, but this is a good start! The trade of the week was definitely a Bitcoin Long trade from the bottom of the weekend sell off. A number of traders were caught out by the initial sell off over the weekend when Segwit2x was cancelled. Fortunately I think a few traders didn’t start till Monday so they weren’t caught in a long position!! Or maybe some smarty-pants actually went short and caught the move down? If so email in and tell us! We’ve seen some movement in Alt-Coins with a spike up in Ripple and Litecoin, though both of those moves were temporary and anyone not taking profit will have been left with almost zero gains after a fast retracement. But maybe this signals a medium term upwards movement back towards the all time highs? Ripple’s spike was caused by good news from American Express, so it may have a longer term effect. 19 days to go! Who will win the £1000 and more importantly, the kudos of winning the world’s first crypto trading competition!

Hello, welcome to episode 49 of The Bitcoin Game, I'm Rob Mitchell. After moderating a Bitcoin scaling panel at the State Of Digital Money in Los Angeles, I followed up by arranging back-to-back interviews with Ryan X. Charles and Eric Lombrozo. I wanted to dig a bit deeper into some issues around scaling and Bitcoin forks. Last episode was my interview with Ryan, and now the yin to Ryan's yang, Eric Lombrozo. Hello, welcome to episode 48 of The Bitcoin Game, I'm Rob Mitchell. In episode 47 you heard the Bitcoin Scaling panel I moderated at the State Of Digital Money in Los Angeles. While I loved being part of that panel, I really didn't get to ask many questions. The time allotted to that panel went by so quickly that I really wanted more! So, I was able to arrange interviews with Ryan X. Charles and Eric Lombrozo to dig a bit deeper into some issues around scaling and Bitcoin forks. In this episode I talk to Ryan; you'll hear Eric in episode 49. UPDATE: Things move fast in Bitcoin! On tonight's episode of "The Crypto Show," Jonathan Mohan and The Dollar Vigilante's Jeff Berwick join us to discuss the recent Bitcoin Cash hard fork and its ramifications. We discuss the moral validity of the decision by some of the exchanges NOT to disburse Bitcoin Cash to their customers; Jonathan explores the possiblity of Bitcoin "endlessly" forking through every contentious soft fork becoming a hard fork; Jeff expresses his concerns about Segwit2x but also his admiration for the free market and how it has made current circumstances probably better than could have been expected; we compare the Ethereum fork to this recent fork; and we also speculate on the long-term outcome for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, and the the other cryptos. We get Jeff to give us a quick update on the upcoming Anarchapulco conference, and Danny gives us a brief update on the Texas Bitcoin Conference in October. Both Jonathan and Jeff, as to be expected, give some very cogent answers to some difficult questions and also offer some brilliant and profound insights into the crypto space above and beyond.
On tonight's episode of "The Crypto Show," our guests in studio include "Dances With Bitcoin" (a.k.a., Brian Deary, CSO of Factom) and Jimmy Song, veteran crypto developer with Paxos. We discuss the upcoming Bitcoin Cash hardfork, its history, and its diverse implications. We also briefly touch upon the Segwit2x fork coming in November. Complex but fascinating theoretical discussions about the future of Bitcoin
On tonight's episode of "The Crypto Show," we talk with Eric J. Anderson, a.k.a., "Eijah," about his ongoing "Demonsaw" project that he has made open-source and is retiring. We talk about his latest project Titan, and the launch party he is cohosting during Defcon on July 27th. (Additional Eijah audio from that launch party will be attached to the show, so listen all the way to the end.) We also talk about his desire to take on encrypted-messaging app "Signal", which he says isn't nearly as secure or private as it should or could be, and he wants to create a truly secure alternative. Trace Mayer joins the discussion as we talk about ICO's (Initial Coin Offerings) and the Ethereum hack, and Trace makes some very insightful points about the events surrounding that hack and whether certain facts indicate incompetence or malfeasance on the part of those behind the Pulse wallets that got compromised. We also briefly discuss the implementation of BIP91 and Segwit2X, and whether a Bitcoin hard or soft work is still a possibility. Danny, Eijah, and Trace are all in Las Vegas getting ready for DefCon.
Explaining compatibility between the Segwit activation of the current Segwit2X code and BIP 148 UASF is the meat of this weeks episode, so if this isn't your bag, or you're NOT curious, well... As of August 1st (and if Segwit is not already either locked-in or activated) nodes that run BIP 148 will not accept any blocks that don't signal Segwit. There is a chance Bitcoin will experience a chain-split on August 1st. The bad news is that this coin-split can be messy and risky. And if you're not careful, you could lose funds. This episode will provide you with the basics to keeping your funds safe during the UASF and will help to make sure you make it to the “other side” with all your bitcoins intact with a little help from our guest Aaron van Wirdum from Bitcoin Magazine.
