It doesn't take too much to keep us going in the face of hard times. A smile from a stranger, an invite to hang with a beloved friend or relative, an actual hang with a beloved friend or relative, a walk in nature, or even something as simple as a song. Human beings, for all of their faults, are a remarkably resilient bunch. We can and will endure, especially if we have no other option. Here in Top Ten Songs About Resilience, we'll show you exactly what we mean. By "we", we mean special guest, musician-comedian-mensch Steve Goodie, our pal from Nashville, in Los Angeles on assignment. Steve was kind enough to join for this most prescient of prescient topics. How resilient are you? A lot depends on what you've got around you. During FuMPFest 2024 members of The FuMP were invited to Escape from the Secret Lab by Dr. Milo T. Pinkerton of the Consortium of Genius. This was a command performance that Devo Spice, Luke Ski, Insane Ian, and Chris Mezzolesta took part in. If they did well they'd be spared. If not, they would be crushed under a 16 ton weight. One of the challenges was an Instant Song, where the performers were required to come up with a song "on the spot." So Chris provided a funky riff on the guitar while Devo, Ian, and Luke each did short verses about their experiences being kidnapped by the COG. This is a recording of that performance. We are proud to report that The FuMP was spared. This recorded is just one of many you can hear on the new FuMPFest 2024 - Live! 2-CD compilation! The album features two hours of music recorded at FuMPFest 2024 and features performances by Pastor Hastur, Holy Bongwater, 2d6, Ross Childs, Steve Goodie, Carla Ulbruch, and our guest of honor The Consortium of Genius! "Lower Decks Keep It Movin'" Video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru6tmzzlA2YI haven't done a new "Star Trek" song since 2009. But today, to show my love and support for the hilarious animated comedy series "Star Trek: Lower Decks" leading into their 5th season premiere on October 24th on Paramount Plus, I am proud to present an original song three-and-a-half years in the making, "Lower Decks Keep It Movin'". The powers that be at Paramount decided that the 5th Season is to be Lower Decks' last. But if there is one thing you can count on regarding the past 58 years of Star Trek fandom, it's that we won't quit without a fight! (ahem, watch "Prodigy" on Netflix!) Henceforth the #SaveLowerDecks online campaign was born. I hope the Lower Decks fans out there will consider this song (and it's accompanying fan-video linked below) an anthem song for the #SaveLowerDecks campaign, and that everyone will share it far and wide online, so we can show the suits at Paramount that we want between 2 and 12 more seasons of the show, at least.Lyrics and lead vocals - Ensign Luke Ski, U.S.S. The compilation is also available to listen to for free as a Spotify Playlist. So, live long and prosper, please share the song and video online, and please watch and help #SaveLowerDecks!

Our friend Chuck (aka Angel Gonza) has been very helpful and kind to me this year. And as she is the worlds most devoted and insane "Weird Al" Yankovic fan, I wrote her a song for Christmas. And she liked it! And then she helped me complete the Exhaustive List Of Songs That Al Has Released within this song. Fun fact #1: in the process of getting this song just right, there were MANY versions... and believe it or not, this is version #27. YEAH! And I think it's worth releasing! And so does Chuck! And we made a video of it! So yay! Fun fact #2: I sent this song to Dr. Demento two weeks ago, and he's debuting it this weekend! YEAH! Music: Todd Rundgren Words, keyboards, accordion, bass, drums, percussion, xylophone, sound effects, vocals, arrangement, production: SG Reluctant backing vocals: Chuck and Jeff Morris Relentless encouragement: Susan "Sulu" Dubow Many helpful ideas, and completion of the aforementioned Exhaustive List: Chuck VIDEO COMING SOON!

ShoEboX's diary from 2003 appeared in the lost and found of my local bowling alley, and with bated breath my excited team read: "Dear Diary... sometime around a quarter of the way into this century, I decree that a lapsed Jew living in the South will cover a song I wrote about Missing Stage Equipment, and he will both ruin and elevate my Composition to the extent that Eastern European badgers will become 35% more promiscuous, and satellites will beam Jello(TM) into the dishwashers of anti-democratic oatmeal-dwellers worldwide." And so it has come to pass. The Prophecy is fulfilled this fourth Sunday of the tenth month of the Year Of Our Blessed Cantaloupe. Now please endure the Noisy Mess that I have concocted as a sacrifice to the almighty Worm Quartet, that they may live another millennium in the Squalor to which they have become accustomed. Amen. Words and music: ShoEboX (aka Tim Crist) Guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, accordion, percussion, vocals, new extra-stupid lyrics at the end, arrangement, production: SG Fiddles: Tim Lorsch Brandon: ShoEboX Helpful Suggestions: Chuck @vv3spa

We are kicking off Halloween month with a spooky tune that continues in Luke Ski's tradition of doing song parodies performed as an impersonation of a character from something in pop-culture. This time around he is portraying Scratch the ghost from the hilarious Disney Channel (and Disney+) animated TV series "The Ghost And Molly McGee", to the tune of Janis Joplin's version of "Me and Bobby McGee". It's worth noting that Luke was inspired to write and record a demo this song back in April when he was asked to be a guest on Chandler Desrochers' Disney TV Animation themed podcast, "The Podcast Without A Cool Acronym", when his special guests were the creators of "The Ghost And Molly McGee", Bill Motz and Bob Roth, to talk about the Season 1 finale. They both got a kick out of the song, and Luke made plans to release a proper finished studio version of it, so here it is, just in time for all the grim grinning ghosts to come out and socialize. Chandler also made an excellent MUSIC VIDEO for the song using clips from the show which can be seen on YouTube. Music, spooky sounds, and final mix by Steve Goodie
