Dr. Donald Yealy (Chief Medical officer UPMC) joins the show to discuss the Flu and the Flu Shots impact
Millions take flu shots and COVID vaccines every year—but how safe and effective are they really? Tara digs into the data the CDC and mainstream media don't emphasize, from flu shot mortality rates to vaccine effectiveness, and how COVID shots have caused rare but serious complications. This episode separates the facts from the cover-ups so listeners can make informed health decisions. SUMMARY In this episode, Tara examines the risks and effectiveness of flu shots and COVID vaccines, revealing insights many doctors and news outlets overlook. Flu Shots: Each year, 200–250 people die from flu shots in the U.S., possibly up to 1,000 when underreporting is considered. Flu vaccines are based on predictions of last year's flu strains and can actually increase susceptibility to new strains. The CDC reported this year's vaccine was only 25% effective, with long-term reassessments often dropping that number to 5–14%. COVID Vaccines: Amid coverage of global conflicts, media quietly report that adenovirus-based COVID vaccines have caused dangerous blood clots. While rare, the deaths and complications were largely unreported or censored, leaving the public in the dark about the risks. Investigative Insights: Tara draws on years of vaccine research and investigative reporting to question mainstream narratives and encourage listeners to ask informed questions about their health. Actionable Advice: Always consult your doctor—but don't hesitate to challenge them on what you've learned. If your doctor cannot provide clear answers about vaccine risks and effectiveness, it may be time to seek a new provider. KEY TALKING POINTS Flu shot mortality estimates and underreporting issues How flu vaccines can increase susceptibility to unpredicted strains Effectiveness rates of recent flu vaccines: 25% and declining over time COVID adenovirus-based vaccines linked to rare blood clots Media coverage and public understanding of vaccine risks Importance of informed consent and questioning medical advice SOCIAL MEDIA BLURB Flu shots & COVID vaccines: Are you really being protected—or misled?

Host Marcella Feathers talks with Nurse Practitioner and asthma expert Sharon Lever about the importance of the flu vaccine this season, especially for people with asthma and existing comorbidities. Learn about the recent and predicted spikes in flu rates, the newest strain (Flu A), and why asthmatics are at an increased risk of severe symptoms and hospitalization. Sharon also explains why some people think getting the vaccine causes the flu, why medical professionals are legitimately concerned about current vaccination rates, and why it's not too late to get vaccinated!
A measles outbreak in South Carolina has reignited a debate many thought was settled decades ago—but this time, it's different. At a packed school board meeting, a teacher's family raises alarms, a gubernatorial candidate calls for re-examining vaccine exemptions, and parents are left asking uncomfortable questions. With over 430 reported measles cases, including infections among vaccinated individuals, this episode dives into vaccine efficacy, religious exemptions, herd immunity, and the lingering trust gap left behind by COVID-era government messaging. If vaccines work, why are vaccinated teachers getting sick? If mandates expand, where does it stop? This isn't an anti-vaccine discussion—it's a conversation about transparency, risk, trust, and whether public health policy still matches reality.
On today's Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND… Dr. Jack Stockwell, a NUCCA Chiropractor and GAPS Practitioner in SLC, UT (866.867.5070 | ForbiddenDoctor.com | JackStockwell.com), covers the the biggest news in the health and wellness space from a holistic, naturopath perspective. In this episode, Dr. Jack takes a comical-yet-serious approach to health by sharing 10 things you can do to get a sickness that no medical doctor can possible cure. Read that sentence again. Starting with eating GMOs (genetically modified organisms) daily, like corn and soy. GMOs are something Mother Nature made and science altered it. Next, drink tap water daily. Don't worry about drinking anything else, only drink tap water with all of its chlorine and fluoride. Another tip is to get your nutrients solely through lab-made supplements and nothing natural at all, especially avoid getting Vitamin D from the Sun, always get your flu shot and take every prescription medication your doctor gives you each day as prescribed without looking into any other natural approach.Dr. Jack continues his tongue-in-cheek approach to health with sharing what you can do to keep yourself sick. Like continuing to consumes artificial sweeteners daily — especially aspartame, sucralose, sorbitol, and all of the alcohol sugars because we know they have a negative effect on the brain. The next tip is to use personal care products that contain parabens, phthalates, aluminum, and sodium lauryl sulfate like skincare items and shampoos & conditioners. He goes on to share more tips in a reverse-style conversation for better health. Doug jumps in to answer listener questions with Dr. Jack weight loss medications and if slimmer automatically equals healthier.Continuing on, does BMI matter, and why or why not. Influenza is rising rapidly across the U.S., and headlines about H3N2 and “new variants” are everywhere. In this episode, I break down what the data actually show, what's driving this flu season, what H3N2 subclade K really means, how well the flu shot is holding up (spoiler- it's doing fine!), and what matters most for protecting your family. Using current CDC surveillance data and real-world vaccine effectiveness, we put this season into clear perspective. I also share how our household is thinking about and managing play dates, preschool and traveling during an active flu season. In this episode, Dr. Mark Bonta sits down with pediatrician and medical journalist Dr. Alok Patel to unpack what it really means to keep kids healthy in a chaotic healthcare system and a distracted digital world. Starting with a story about Mark's nine year old getting injured at hockey, they dive into how parents can respond to injuries and illness without panicking, how to check your own emotions first, and when a situation truly belongs in the emergency department versus urgent care or a clinic visit.Drawing on his frontline pediatric experience, Dr. Patel breaks down practical red flags for parents to watch for, like increased work of breathing or changes in mental status, and explains why ER waits feel so brutal yet often reflect deeper system issues like staffing and bed shortages. He shares behind the scenes stories from “The Pitt” and his work on the official HBO companion podcast, highlighting how accurately the show captures social determinants of health and the emotional reality of modern emergency care. From there, the conversation moves into vaccines, flu season, and the very human fact that even doctors sometimes struggle to follow all their own advice. Mark and Alok talk candidly about phones, social media, Roblox, and why today's kids are essentially part of a live experiment in screen exposure. They close with a focus on what actually protects kids long term: safe, nonjudgmental adults, honest conversations about mental health, limits around screens, and a home environment that values connection over perfection.Dr. Alok Patel's https://www.alokpatelmd.com/Episode Takeaways1. Parent First, Patient Second: Kids borrow their reaction from you, so the first step in any injury or illness is to calm your own emotions before you decide what to do.2. ER vs Clinic: Not every vomit, bump, or fever is life threatening, and learning when to use urgent care or outpatient clinics can spare families long, stressful ER waits.3. Triage Reality Check: Emergency departments prioritize the sickest patients first, which means long waits for minor issues are frustrating but often a sign the system is doing its job.4. Medicine Behind the Camera: The Pit shows how accurate medical details can sit in the background while stories focus on the real emotional chaos of patients, families, and staff.5. Social Determinants in Real Time: Two kids with the same diagnosis can have completely different outcomes depending on housing, income, family support, and access to care.6. Doctors Are Human Too: Even physicians miss flu shots, struggle with habits, or feel guilty, which can actually make their public health messages more relatable, not less credible.7. Screens and Social Media: The real risk is not one device but a constant digital environment that shapes brain development, sleep, self esteem, and social skills in ways we are only starting to understand.8. Safe Adults Save Lives: The most powerful protection for teens is a nonjudgmental adult who listens, normalizes hard conversations, and gives kids a place to bring their worst thoughts without fear.Episode Timestamps02:06 – Hockey Rink Medicine: How Doctors Triage Their Own Kids04:07 – Parents First: Calming Yourself Before You React to Injury06:50 – ER, Urgent Care, or Clinic: How to Decide Where Your Child Belongs09:37 – Waiting Room Reality: Triage, Delays, and Why Sickest Kids Go First12:34 – Inside “The Pit”: TV Emergency Medicine, Accuracy, and Chaos24:50 – Flu Shots, Doctor Guilt, and Why Practice Often Lags Advice31:06 – Kids, Phones, and Social Media: The Live Experiment on Their Brains37:08 – Teen Mental Health Red Flags: Subtle Signs and Safe Adult Spaces >>>>>> The expressed opinions belong solely to the hosts and guests, and they do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the Hospitals, Clinics, Universities, or any other organization associated with the host or guests. What if the routine choices parents make — the vitamin K shot, Hep B, even circumcision — aren't as straightforward as we've been told? Today I'm joined by Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, one of the most controversial voices in medicine, who argues that parents are being trained, not taught, and that major risks and ingredients are routinely kept out of sight. For more than 25 years, she has challenged public-health agencies, been labeled part of the “Disinformation Dozen,” and now claims the entire system is beginning to crack. Twice a year, 40 scientists gather together for five days to decide what strains of influenza to vaccinate against for the next flu season. It takes around six months to prepare the vaccine – which usually includes protection against three different strains of flu. Europe and the US are heading into a flu season that some are warning could be particularly severe this winter. While even as summer approaches in Australia, the country is still registering high numbers of cases after a record-breaking flu season earlier in the year. So how does the process of deciding on a flu vaccine each year actually work? And does what happens in the southern hemisphere influence the way the virus circulates in the northern hemisphere? In this episode, we speak to Ian Barr, deputy director for the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza, based at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, part of the University of Melbourne. Barr is one of those 40 scientists who attend the meetings to decide what strains to focus vaccination efforts on. This episode was produced by Mend Mariwany, Katie Flood and Gemma Ware. The Chiefs have gone from the team that almost lost to the team that almost won. It's pretty obvious watching these guys that the game is almost always more important to their opponent than it is for KC. If that doesn't change, this season is a train wreck. But while Denver won its Super Bowl on Sunday at Mile High, there's just too many games left to count out the Chiefs. If they find the fire, they will make it in easily and could be really hard to knock out. If they keep up with the slop, this season could be over in 10 days. KU hoops is suffering the modern drama of paying a great player that wants the money but doesn't want to be there. It's now obvious to anyone watching that Darryn Peterson, his agent, his team and likely his family are taking Bill Self for a ride. This is why older coaches are retiring. The players are in control now. It's a big week in DC as Putin says he wants to meet with Trump again. Same for Maduro in Venzuela. Trump has ordered the Epstein files released and we are about to get a huge change with the SNAP program. The Cleveland Clinic jabbed up thousands of employees with a flu shot last year and found some incredible results. Spoiler alert... don't get the shot unless your doctor tells you to. A midwest city is going to charge you a fee to work your car accident and a rock star obliterates the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame calling it "shameful."
