Chas E, Mike Mitchell, Adia K and special guest AC gather for a special family edition of At The Hops featuring music, beer and smoothies. Thats right! Smoothies! As always, we have some great original music and also a special music discussion - My Three Songs. Each member of our distinguished panel brings three songs to the table for discussion. Of course our discussions are fueled by some intriguing craft beers. On this episode we have the Wipeout IPA from Port Brewing Company and the Hochzeit Pilsner from Black Raven Brewing Company. And our special guest AC brings us some select smoothies to talk about for those of us that prefer a less intoxicating brew.
What’s the hottest summer song of 2014? Thats the big musical question we tackle on this episode of At The Hops. Adia K joins Chas E and Mike Mitchell to check out candidates for 2014’s Summer Song. We also taste three, amazing beers from Terrapin Beer Company in Athens, Georgia, including the Moonray Chocolate Orange Weizenbock, the Guano Loco Ancho Brownie Ale, and Liquid Bliss Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter. Plus, we have some great music as we revisit three live performances from the one and only Harlan Pease.
Writers Will Dodson and Emmett "Chick" Dodson join Chas E and Mike to discuss their book Tennessee Chicken - Real Life Stories of an Orphan From East Tennessee. Chick has lived through 13 presidents, survived attacks from boars, bees, pit bulls, and grenades, and rubbed elbows with many celebrities including Eleanor Roosevelt and Ella Fitzgerald. Chick and Will have assembled some of Chick’s best stories for their book "Tennessee Chicken" and share some of their favorite moments with Chas and Mike. We also have a few beers to check out including the Beaver Tail Blond Ale from Kassik’s Brewing, Liquid Sunshine from Breakside Brewery and Expedition Amber Ale from Harmon Brewing Company. All beers on today’s show were recommended by MicroBeerClub.com. And, in the music department, we have three live performances of Americana great Keith Harden from our At The Hops archives.
