My guest today on the Mental Game Podcast probably has about as varied a CV as you can imagine. Terrence Chan is a professional poker player, MMA fighter, former PokerStars employee, founder of Ultimate Poker and currently co-host of the 2+2 PokerCast. Because he has achieved so much in so many fields, I knew he was going to be very insightful about success and the learning process, but even I was surprised at just how educated he was on the topic of learning. If you want to take a sideways step from one career to another, Terrence is a brilliant example of someone who understands how to use what you already know to improve at something else.
Terrence Chan is professional poker player and MMA fighter from Vancouver, Canada. Terrence is perhaps best know for his impressive performance in the 2009 Pokerstars SCOOOP series where he won two limit hold'em events simultaneously – the $500 medium buy in and the $5000 high buy in. Other career highlights include 15 WSOP cashes (primarily in limit), including two 2010 limit final tables. Chan's poker resume is rounded out by cashes on the WPT an APPT title as well as an assortment of deep runs in other international and local tournaments. Terrence has also founded and operated customer support organizations for two different poker startups: PokerStars (2002-2004) and Ultimate Poker (2013-2014). His main hobby and passion is the martial arts that are typically associated with the sport of MMA: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai boxing, western boxing, and wrestling. He has an amateur MMA record of 3-0 and a professional MMA record of 1-0. Mental Game MP3s - http://www.pokermindcoach.com/mental-game-mp3s/
