Ebből adott lélekemelő ízelítőt ebben a 2000-ben készült negyedórás beszélgetésben.Hogyan támogathatja a munkánkat? - Legújabban már a Donably felületen is támogathat bennünket, itt ÁFA-mentesen segítheti munkavégzésünket: https://www.donably.com/friderikusz-podcast - De lehet a patronálónk a Patreon-on keresztül is, mert a támogatása mértékétől függően egyre több előnyhöz juthat: https://www.patreon.com/FriderikuszPodcast - Egyszerű banki átutalással is elismerheti munkavégzésünk minőségét. 2024 irodalmi Nobel-díjasa a dél-koreai Han Kang lett. In this video, I'm joined by Dr. Steven Nemes to discuss his case for liberal Protestantism. Dr. Nemes spent years wondering if he needed to become Catholic and leave his Protestant upbringing. He ended up rejecting the claims of the Catholic church. However, he did not stop there. He realized that the nature of his disagreements with Roman Catholicism extended beyond the institution of the church centered in Rome. These disagreements went to the core of catholic Christianity as a whole - in other words, the majority of historical Christianity. This has led to his rejection of traditionalism, hierarchy, the Trinity, and the incarnation - all of which he has written on extensively. In this video, we discuss what Liberal Protestantism is, my objections to it, whether it can be called Christianity, and Dr. Nemes' views on the future of liberal theology. It's finally here, the finale of the 1996 Dan Simmons novel Endymion! Where we last left off, Father Captain de Soya had been called back to Pacem to receive new orders and a new crew member. It turns out the pope has been having visions from "God" that have told him the location of Aenea on Sol Draconi Septem. The pope is also declaring a crusade against the ousters, and everyone knows crusades are always a good idea. The new crew member, Rhadamanth Nemes, is a type of super solider being created for this crusade, though de Soya has reservations. Meanwhile, Raul an the others are still with Father Glaucus waiting to make their trek across the wraith infested surface to the next Farcaster portal. The Chichatuk return and they gear up, finally ready to face the wraiths (a name Danielle still has massive issues with). Anyway, they cross the surface and leave through the Farcaster never having even seen a wraith, and Sam is incoherent with frustration. Just after they leave, de Soya and his crew arrive in the system, but while he's still resurrecting, the obviously non-human Nemes heads down to the surface to try and murder Aenea. She uses the same kind of silver skin-suit that Kassad and Moneta had, and she gets to work, murdering Glaucus and the Chichatuk, and shooting flashlight beams out of her mouth much to the delight of both our hosts. Sam is ecstatic that here, in the last part of the book, the plot has finally shown up in full force, and things only ramp up from there as the story races towards an exciting conclusion, then smashes into a wall with a bizarre coda. Honestly, it's the best that could have been hoped for.
Life is never the way you planned it. There's an old saying that God laughs at our plans. We make these plans, and then God chuckles and says that's not how it will be. I have to constantly remind myself that I'm not in the driver's seat, and ultimately, we will go wherever God wants us to go. My next guest knows that very well. Jason Nemes, author and speaker, is in the studio to tell us his story.

An episode from 11/29/23: Tonight, I share two stories from the Shoah, or Holocaust. The first is about the Sonderkommando, those prisoners forced to do the most devastating work in the concentration camps. During a 2015 Fresh Air interview with László Nemes and Géza Röhrig about their 2015 film, Son of Saul, a brief story about an actual Sonderkommando member is told. It remains one of the most overwhelming minutes that I have ever heard. In the second part, I read from Daniel Mendelsohn's 2006 book, The Lost: A Search for Six of Six Million. The book is Mendelsohn's attempt to discover what happened to six members of his family who were murdered in the Holocaust, and the section I read from is about the difficulty of truly entering the mind and situation of a sixteen year-old girl, who is rounded up with a thousand other Jews, and murdered. Today we are picking up where we left off with Dr. Steven Nemes. We've been talking about communion (also called the eucharist or the Lord's supper). He's been presenting a case for memorialism. Today we begin with the words of institution, which Jesus gave at the last supper. What did he mean when he said, "This is my body?" Next I ask Nemes about church history and what he's learned there. He talks about the Didache, Ignatius of Antioch, and Cyril of Jerusalem. Then I ask him how we should engage with the eucharist today. His answer may surprise you. What do you think happens during communion? In my interview today, Dr. Steven Nemes provides a biblical, historical, and theological defense for memorialism--the idea that the eucharist memorializes what Christ has done (and will do) for us rather than actually becoming Christ in some metaphysical sense. Thus, the bread and wine signify or represent Christ's body and blood without mystically becoming them. I think you'll appreciate not only Nemes' argument, but also his clear and logical approach. When a business is sold, it can create a lot of anxiety and challenges for both the existing team and the new owners. Communication is critical to making the transition as smooth as possible so the business can continue and grow. Today's guest, David Nemes, is an entrepreneur and an active business investor who's been part of several acquisitions. On this episode of The Clarity Advisors Show, David and host Ken Trupke discuss the challenges that come with the transition to new ownership, and David talks about his experience working on bank closures.Timestamps(00:59): David's background(03:01): Ensuring a smooth transition(04:38): Communicating before the deal's done(05:58): Mistakes David's made and what he's learned(07:51): Building internal support(13:13): How David got into bank closures(17:38): Explaining loss share(20:19): Things that work and don't work(23:44): David's recommended reading and listening(27:10): Ways to connect with David Nemes Episode Quotes“Walking in on Day One, you're not the smartest person in the room.” (David)“It's always an awkward kind of moment because there's fear. So, you've just got to really be warm and tell them it's going to be okay and we're going to do the right things.” (David)“One of the things that I've learned is to have some industry expertise that you can bring in with you, whether that's just someone advising or the old owner sticking around. But you need a plan for leadership transition.” (David)“I like to say I'm a mile wide and inch deep on a lot of things, and I'm a quick learner. But there's nuance to every industry.” (David)“In my experience, coming into companies as an advisor, it's helpful to build some kind of internal champions – people you can count on to tell you what's happening. They don't necessarily have a position, but they've been around long enough, or they've just got the respect of the people.” (Ken)“We're not going to be successful doing nothing. All around the world, Christians gather to partake of the Lord's Supper. Communion, the Eucharist. What exactly is happening during the communion service? Are Christians simply engaging in a symbolic memorial service of what Christ has done? Or are the bread and wine metaphysically transformed into the body and blood of Christ? To answer these questions, I have on Dr. Steven Nemes to chat about his new book. Credits Host: R.T. In this week's episode, survivor Kurt Nemes shares his pancreatic cancer story and discusses “the system” regarding how pancreatic cancer patients are treated within the medical community. Thanks to Kurt's self-advocacy in pursuit of treatment for some lingering symptoms, he slowly worked his way toward a pancreatic cancer diagnosis in the somewhat early stages. Partially due to lessons he learned in his travels, his willingness to combine alternative treatment methods with western medicine, and a deep focus on mindset and acceptance, Kurt is with us today to share some of his best advice. Dr. Steven Nemes is an analytic philosopher and theologian who uses a phenomenological approach to reading scripture and constructing theology. In this interview I ask him about his unique approach to evaluating doctrine, especially the Trinity, from a phenomenological perspective. We also discuss restorationism as a common ground and delve into Church history extensively. In the end Nemes argues for freedom rather than dogma when evaluating various doctrines related to the Trinity. Who is Sean Finnegan? Read his bio here —— Questions for Interview —— 1. Most people know what systematic theology is--simply the categorizing of doctrines or beliefs--but most don't know what phenomenology is. Can you offer a brief explanation? 2. A lot of your work focuses on reading scripture. Why did you decide to focus on the phenomenology of reading the bible? 3. Let's talk about the Trinity. When I listened to your interview with Dale Tuggy in September you listed off a whole series of problems with the Trinity. Then he asked you, "Well, why do you still believe in it?" You replied because it's hard to disprove one ousia in 3 subsistences. Now, however, you no longer identify as a trinitarian. What changed? 4. You mentioned Mark Edwards' book, Catholicity and Heresy that what the Gnostics did--hypostatizing attributes of God like wisdom, spirit, mind, etc.--influenced Nicene reasoning. Could you talk more about that? 5. You've recently been making a public case for unitarian theology and christology, what has prompted that? 6. It seems like you're a fan of the Polish Brethren and specifically, their book The Racovian Catechism. What drew you to this work? Would you identify as a Socinian? 7. Tell me about your book, Orthodoxy and Heresy. What's the main idea. 8. As you probably know unitarians have been excluded, deplatformed, persecuted, and even martyred for centuries. Have you faced any opposition? 9. What advice would you give to unitarian Christians to help us grow as a movement?
