In this Say Yes to Holiness podcast 1:1 Conversation, Christina sits down with Santonio Hill, Assistant Director for Recruitment of Vagabond Missions. During our conversation, Santonio shared his own faith journey, and how giving Jesus first shot at his life led him to exactly where he was supposed to be.. Santonio was working in ministry in Philadelphia when he started applying and preparing for nursing school during quarantine. After the death of George Floyd, howver, he was very inspired to be a boots on the ground missionary making a difference in at least one teen's life who is living in the shadows of America. As he was growing up black in America, his parents often told him how to survive here, but Santonio wants to put an end to that and instead help teach teens how to thrive, and that's exactly what he gets to do through inviting others into the work of Vagabond Missions. Vagabond Missions is passionate about introduc inner city youth to Jesus and a loving community by mobilizing missionaries to be that face of Jesus in the world. The goal of Vagabond Missions is to reach every inner-city teen so that they can be known, loved and experience hope for their lives. My conversation with Santonio truly inspired me while also giving me great hope for the future of our youth, and I am thinking that it will do the same for you. Santonio Hill was working in ministry in Philadelphia. As that was coming to an end he began applying and preparing for nursing school during quarantine. After the death of George Floyd, Santonio was inspired to be a boots-on-the-ground missionary making a difference, even if only in one teen's life that has to live in the shadows of America. Santonio wanted to put an end to the idea of merely surviving, and felt called to teach teens how to thrive. He is the assistant director of recruitment for Vagabond Missions, which has 13 missions across eight states. Vagabond Missions understands that inner-city teens confront a cycle of neglect, violence, and broken family life. Vagabond Missions introduces them to Jesus and a loving community by mobilizing missionaries. Through outreach, every inner-city teen can be known, loved, and experience hope for their lives. Description: Is a regular structure and framework for each of your talks, constricting or freeing? Does it prevent or enable you to speak more confidently and clearly to an audience? In my conversation with Kris Frank he shares two really helpful ‘structures' for his talks. First the structure of three key questions he asks himself as he writing a talk AND another structure he uses as a map in both preparing and delivering his talks. Rather than being a rigid constraint these simple and repeatable structures provide freedom and clarity. Kris serves as Vice President of Vagabond Missions in Steubenville, Ohio, where he lives. Kris has been privileged to travel around the country, sharing the Gospel with teens and young adults at various retreats, camps, and conferences. He also published his first book, Hope Always, in 2020. WATCH VIDEO: https://youtu.be/7fq8hZQxUMcMeet Anthony Tobin. Originally from New York state. Hear how a compelling youth minister came into his life and changed the course of everything. Be amazed at how the Lord invited Anthony and his family to move to our Native Soil. Walk with him through his several years as a youth minister and into this new season of his life leading Vagabond Missions in Mobile. We met his counterpart in this minsitry Lauren Alley last season. See how the Lord brought these two together for this mission to the spiritually poor youth of Mobile. Dig In Further:Who had the biggest impact on you in your youth? Was it a teacher? Coach? Parent? Youth minister? What did they do exactly that made you feel loved, cared for or closer to God? How might you be called to be that person for someone else?Have you ever felt a stirring in your heart when presented with an opportunity to serve in a new way? When you were presented with a new job, ministry, location or idea? If the stirring involved a cocktail of passion, love, zeal and an impulse to step in that direction against the odds, take some time and take it to prayer. See what the Lord might want to do. How do you evangelize the unchurched in your area? How does your parish? How might you and your parish more effectively reach out the unchurched…especially the unchurched poor and youth…and invite them into the life of the Church?
This week Chenele talks with Santonio Hill about how Vagabond Missions evangelizes to communities on the peripheries. Also, find out how you can answer the call to serve with your unique gifts.
Andres Taquechel was born in Miami, with loving Catholic parents and family. His parents lived out the gospel firmly in their early marriage, with his full-time stay-at-home mom and a father, being a teacher. He is earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida and there he heard the gospel presented in a way that finally resonated with him and made changes to live a Christian life. In this episode, we talked about: How does the retreat help him to fall more deeply in love with God and make a great difference in his life? His intentional search for a deeper understanding of God and spiritual transformation. How does the bible study help him decide whether to serve the mission or not? What is “Vagabond Missions” and what do they do? The primary reasons why he chooses to work for Vagabond Missions? The importance of the father's role in building a family, church, and community. What were the difficulties and spiritual challenges and how did they overcome them? What are the self-discipline and habits that help him accomplish what he wants in life? What is the exodus 90 program? To connect with Andres Taquechel please visit:

Adrian Chuquillangui is the host of the St.Joseph's Capital podcast, and the founder and CEO of St. Joseph's Capital, a commercial multifamily real estate investment company with the purpose of inviting faith-driven leaders into a world of new streams of passive income and impact while assisting missionaries committed to sharing the hope and joy of the gospel with high school and college students worldwide. He is a Catholic husband (married to Alexandra of 3 years), father of 2 boys (Logan and Luca), active-duty U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Officer, and multifamily real estate investor. Adrian played basketball for four years at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, where he received a bachelor's degree in Operations Research and Computer Analysis. It was during this time at the Academy when Adrian had a few FOCUS (the Fellowship of Catholic University Students) missionaries invest and pour into his growth as a man and follower of Christ, and the seed was planted in Adrian's heart which has grown into a deep passion of living the mission of the New Evangelization. Throughout their journey in the USCG, the Chuquillangui family has been blessed with opportunities to serve in and support parish missions at each duty station including youth ministry and campus ministry allowing them to share their love for Christ with students and to be a resource for those diving into their faith. This has fueled Adrian's desire to pursue financial freedom through the vehicle of multifamily real estate investing so that after the completion of his military obligation, he can transition to being present and doubling down on raising his growing family while continuing to invest in real estate and serving the mission of the New Evangelization. Adrian is a member of the Active Duty Passive Income (ADPI) Military Multifamily Mastermind and Academy and is a Limited Partner of 72 apartment units. He is currently on a mission to become a General Partner in commercial multifamily syndication with a focus on raising capital. In this episode, Adrian talked about: Adrian's background prior to getting into multifamily investing? The creation of St. Joseph's Capital and the podcast. The Parable of Talents. Understanding proper and greater stewardship of money Money mindset shifts for financial freedom. What was his first real estate deal? The benefits of passively investing in commercial multifamily real estate. Leveraging 50% of their profits to financially assist the Focus missionaries and Vagabond Missions. Sometimes working at Vagabond Missions is heartbreaking but sometimes it gives you a front row seat to God's glory. Today Andy Churray, a long time missionary and Area Director, shares such a story.
Our Director of Recruitment, Mark Pirro, served as a missionary with Vagabond Missions for 10 years. He started as a punk kid from New York. And then God called him to something greater. This is his story...
Good friend (and Steubenville chaplain) of Vagabond Missions, Fr. Drake McCalister shares that sometimes when we simply show up, God does big things. Since this story (and his ministry in Seatle), Fr. Drake became a priest and now serves in the Diocese of Steubenville OH and helps in the formation of Vagabond Missionaries.
Sometimes we find beauty in an unexpected place. Often times this is the case at Vagabond Missions. Acceptance, gentleness, charity sneaks up on us and makes a life changing impact. In today's episode, Meg Pirro (a veteran missionary) shares such a story...
Sometimes serving inner city kids is exhausting. They can be rude or disinterested. Sometimes, the weight of sadness is difficult to bear. In this episode Christopher Kerfoot shares a story when it went much further than that... *Note to the listener: For those of you who have ever thought, "I'd like to do Vagabond Missions" but after this episode thought, "Aw hell no" - these were the wild west days of Vagabond Missions. We have changed many policies and procedures since this time. In addition, this is one of the only times in 16 years a missionary has ever experienced violence. Definitely the exception, not the norm.
Let it begin! We chat with Santonio Hill of Vagabond Missions and hear about their ministry to inner city youth in Pittsburg, PA. Join us for hot takes, inspiration and much more! vagabondmissions.com@vagabondmissions@santonio_hill

Not only did he have his own challenges growing up, but he can share the perspective of the teens he works with as well. I'm excited for you to learn more about this amazing missionary! Pete Burak asks Kris Frank of Vagabond Missions about his perspective on current events, the need for hope in uncertain times (1:27), the difference between urban and suburban ministry (10:12), and the inspiration for his new book Hope. Always: Our Anchor in Life's Storms (24:51). Kris shares the moving story of the birth of his son (33:52) and reveals some of the things that are bringing him joy right now. Then Pete unpacks Acts 20 (48:00) and St. Paul's radical authenticity and willingness to roll his sleeves up with the communities he founded. Key quote: "No matter what happens, nothing changes between us and Jesus." -Grace Frank Special shoutout to Connor Flanagan for allow us to us his songs for the intro and outro.
