Discussion QuestionsSermon Overview When your loving, hopeful life provides an opportunity, be ready to share the gospel.Digging Deeper A loving life (vv. 8-12)1. In this passage, Peter calls us, as believers, to have a unifying and affectionate love for one another (v. 8). Gospel Communities are intended to be “a family of disciples on mission” who, among other things, have a “unifying and affectionate love for one another.” What do you feel could be done to see this love be sustained and grow in Gospel Community?2. Among followers of Jesus, we may have lots of differences and yet, in Christ, have common ground in the most important matters. What has been your experience of this sort of Christian unity? Have you seen God knit your heart to another brother or sister in Christ with whom you might not have a lot in common (on a merely human level)? Please share.3. Our love for one another inside the church is actually one of the most powerful things we can do for people outside it. Have you ever seen (or experienced) Christian community that made someone on the outside stop and ask questions?4. Verses 9b - 12 are intended by Peter to help motivate us to, instead of repaying evil for evil, bless and do good to those who mistreat us. What specifically in these verses do you find helpful in motivating you to live the sort of life Peter is calling us to live? A ready response (vv. 13 - 17)5. The sermon describes a progression — trust, live out, speak, and now share — where the gospel moves from inside us, outward to the church, and then out to the world. Does that progression feel natural to you, or does it feel like a big jump when it gets to sharing? What makes that last step feel different?6. “A different hope will shape a distinctive life, which will get questions for which we need a ready response.” What are some of the ways you would say your life is distinctive from people who do not believe in Jesus because of your hope in Christ? 7. If someone in your life asked you today, "Why are you the way you are?" — what would you say? Take a shot at it together as a group.8. Think of one person in your life who doesn't know Jesus — a neighbor, coworker, family member, friend. Without sharing too much detail, what's one word that describes how you feel when you think about having a spiritual conversation with them?9. To what degree would you say you are ready to speak of Christ and his saving work in your life with someone who might ask you about “the hope that is in you”? 10. If you don't feel ready to do so, what might be a good next step toward becoming more ready? Prayer
Send us Fan MailKeeping faith quiet can feel like the safest option, especially when the culture feels louder, busier, and more skeptical than ever. But if the gospel really is good news, silence is not a neutral choice. We lean into Pope Paul VI's urgent, compassionate call to evangelization and ask what it looks like to speak the name of Jesus with confidence, without becoming pushy or performative. We walk through the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) as a mission for everyday believers: parents at home, students in class, coworkers in meetings, and neighbors across the fence. Drawing from Evangelii Nuntiandi, we talk about Christian witness that is rooted in Scripture, formed in prayer, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We also unpack why “modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers” and how simple choices like kindness, forgiveness, and peace can open real conversations about Christ. Fear is part of the story for most of us, so we get practical: how to start small, how to offer prayer in ordinary moments, and how to trust that the Spirit will give words when you need them (Luke 12:12, Matthew 10:19-20). We also share how visible reminders of faith, including meaningful Christian jewelry and Scripture-inspired accessories, can gently spark questions and create natural openings to share hope. If this encourages you, subscribe for more, share it with a friend who needs courage, and leave a review so more people can find the message. What if sharing your faith wasn't meant to feel forced? On Pentecost Sunday, we're reminded that the Holy Spirit empowers ordinary believers to live as witnesses for Jesus—not just through sermons, but through everyday life. This message explores: • What evangelism really means • Why Christians are called “living proof” • How Jesus engaged people relationally • The role of prayer and the Holy Spirit • Why your personal story matters • How to share the gospel naturally through everyday relationships The gospel spread through ordinary believers in the early church, and God still works through ordinary people today. You don't need all the answers. You simply need a life shaped by Jesus.
SummaryThis episode explores the role of evangelism in various stages of children's and youth ministry within the local church, emphasizing the importance of age-appropriate gospel sharing and responsible evangelism training.

Conversations surrounding the gospel, identity, and sexuality can often feel difficult, emotional, and complicated. Yet as Christians, the way we approach people matters deeply. Truth should never be separated from grace, and grace should never ignore truth. In these moments, our attitude, focus, and love for others can make a lasting difference.

I guess there are many reasons, Keith and I share the main ones.
I guess there are many reasons, Keith and I share the main ones.
So, what motivates us to speak up, while the culture is trying to silence our voice? What enables us to push past our fear of offending someone to let them know what Jesus has done for us? There is only one answer: it is our love for Jesus. We speak up because we love Jesus.Main Points:1. It's as simple as this: If we love Jesus, we will obey his command to make disciples. If we love Jesus, we will look for opportunities to tell others of His saving grace. We should not feel afraid or intimidated. We have been given the Holy Spirit for this very purpose, to empower us to be a witness.2. And remember, the gospel is good news. The truth that Jesus died for our sins and rose again is good news. That God would offer us grace, mercy, and forgiveness is good news. The promise of eternal life is good news. Why would we keep this good news from anyone?3. Our love for Jesus, must overcome our fear of offending people. Why do we assume they will be offended anyway? We don't know, but perhaps the Holy Spirit has been working in their heart and they are perfectly ready to hear the good news about Jesus. Today's Scripture Verses:Romans 10:14 - “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”2 Corinthians 5:14-15 - “For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”John 14:23 - “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.”1 Peter 3:15 - “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group
Sharing the gospel with kids sounds simple, but one wrong word can create confusion that lasts for years. In this episode, Tom, Cole, Ben, and Vicki tackle the tough questions: Are you using too many Christian terms? Is your "hand raise" invitation actually clear? And what happens after kids say yes? These children's ministry leaders dig into why clarity matters, how to avoid confusing language like "ask Jesus into your heart," and why following up is just as important as the initial invitation. You'll hear real stories from Easter egg hunts and church camps where kids didn't actually understand what they were committing to—and practical strategies to prevent it. Whether you're presenting the gospel at a big event or every Sunday, this conversation will challenge how you share Jesus with the next generation. Discover why consistency, clear language, and discipleship are the keys to helping kids truly understand and remember the gospel. In this episode Nathan and Cameron explore a surprising connection between evangelism and the famous poem Archaic Torso of Apollo by Rainer Maria Rilke, unpacking how beauty, brokenness, and the call to “change your life” illuminate the Christian mission today. In this deep theological conversation, they discuss why many believers feel unprepared to share the gospel, how the biblical idea of “treasure in jars of clay” reframes evangelism, and why imperfect Christians can still powerfully point others to Jesus Christ. Drawing on insights from N. T. Wright, C. S. Lewis, and real-life experiences, Nathan and Cameron show how echoes of goodness, truth, and beauty can lead people toward faith—even when the messenger is flawed. This episode offers thoughtful Christian analysis of culture, art, and current conversations about faith, encouraging believers to overcome performance anxiety in evangelism and trust that God works through ordinary people to reveal the extraordinary power of the gospel.DONATE LINK: https://toltogether.com/donate BOOK A SPEAKER: https://toltogether.com/book-a-speakerJOIN TOL CONNECT: https://toltogether.com/tol-connect TOL Connect is an online forum where TOL listeners can continue the conversation begun on the podcast.

Michael Lodge, Speaking Pastor Studies show that the majority of Christians believe it is important to share one's faith with the world. The same studies show that very few do this on a regular basis. If Jesus is the most important reality in our life that has changed us and led us to abundance in life, then how could we keep from sharing Him with those close to us in life? Why Share the Gospel if God Controls Everything? In this episode of Truth Unbound, Walt examine the discussion surrounding Wes Huff, Calvinism, and the claim that God's sovereignty means everything is predetermined — including human choices. He'll unpack common arguments about “ordained ends and means” and test whether they actually hold up biblically and logically. We look at popular analogies used to defend theological determinism and where those comparisons begin to break down. This isn't a personal critique, but a careful theological analysis of sovereignty, free will, and human responsibility. How should we feel towards lost people, and in particular, when we don't share the gospel? How do we reconcile God's sovereignty and our responsibility to share? Jesus had compassion on the lost, and the Apostle Paul had unceasing anguish over the lost, and we should strive to have that same heart, and take responsibility to share the gospel with those around us.

Over the last fifteen years living and ministering in South Asia, Brian, a leader with Operation Mobilization, has witnessed numerous changes. One aspect that hasn't changed is openness to the gospel. Brian will explain where Christian persecution usually begins and how it can feature a mix of family, community, and/or the government coming against the church and against new followers of Jesus. Emphasizing that God is the one who changes hearts and minds, Brian shares how, when we read the New Testament, we see that God is sovereign even over the persecution He allows His children to endure. "[Christian persecution] causes believers to grow in their faith." Brian says, "I think it's a real witness that this faith is so much bigger than what is happening to me in this world." OM's mission is to grow the church and mobilize followers of Christ to go and make disciples, teaching them to obey everything the Lord has commanded. Brian will share specific stories of how Christians in Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka are being mobilized to spread the gospel where they are and take Jesus into new communities where there aren't any churches. One story you will hear is that of a young girl, only 6 or 7 years old, who so passionately shared Jesus with her classmates that her teacher said, "Why don't you share this message with the entire school?" You'll also hear about a witch doctor who saw his son healed after praying for healing in the name of Christ. Discover how you can get involved in missions—whatever stage of life you're in—and what Brian considers the most vital qualities for those who desire to serve and reach out among unreached people groups or in foreign nations. Pray for persecuted Christians in South Asia to run the race with boldness and increased fervor for the Lord.
