Awaken Delight: How God Maps the Impossible | with Geof Morin | Episode 459

What does it actually mean to delight in God? In this rich and deeply Christ-centered conversation, Stephanie sits down with Geof Morin to explore why delight isn't merely one aspect of the Christian life—it is its very heartbeat.Geof Morin, who has endorsed Stephanie's book, Awaken Delight, is the President and CEO of Biblica, a global Bible ministry helping people engage with God's Word for more than 200 years. Biblica creates and shares life-changing Bible resources that power hundreds of global Gospel ministries.Beginning with Jesus' parable of the treasure hidden in a field, Geof reminds us that our lives are ultimately an invitation to dig where Christ himself points, discovering a treasure worth joyfully giving everything to possess.Together Stephanie and Geof explore why delight can never be separated from Jesus, reflecting on Scripture from Exodus to the Gospels, and tracing how the banner lifted by Moses ultimately points to Christ lifted on the cross. Delight, they argue, is not simply an emotion but the fruit of knowing the living God through his Son.The conversation becomes wonderfully practical as Geof shares how "Bible absorption" has become his primary pathway into delight—not reading for information, but allowing Scripture to reshape the heart. Stephanie adds reflections from Awaken Delight, weaving together the biblical language of delight, deliciousness, thirst, and satisfaction through both English and French imagery. They also wrestle honestly with suffering, exploring how drought deepens roots, why beauty truly can emerge from ashes, and how God often reveals his glory most clearly in places where hope appears exhausted. Finally, Geof shares remarkable stories from his work with Biblica, witnessing people encounter Scripture for the very first time in some of the world's hardest places. These moving accounts remind us that the gospel continues to transform lives today with the same power we read about in the book of Acts.Whether we're standing on a Colorado mountain trail, or sitting quietly with an open Bible, this conversation invites us to taste and see again that the Lord is good—and to discover that delight in God truly is everything.MORE ABOUT "AWAKEN DELIGHT" BY STEPHANIE ROUSSELLE"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Is there still time to share the gospel with the people around you? In this episode of Words From The Word, Pastor Roderick Webster opens from John 4:34-35, John 9:4, 1 Corinthians 7:29, and Ephesians 2:12 (KJV) to remind us that the window of opportunity to reach the lost is not wide open forever — it is closing. You might be asking: Does it really matter how urgently I share my faith? What does the Bible actually say about the time we have left? How can I reach people before it is too late? What does it mean to be without hope and without God?Key points covered in this devotion:- Jesus said the fields are already white and ready for harvest — stop saying there is time- The night is coming when no man can work — Jesus said this over 2,000 years ago- Paul declared plainly in 1 Corinthians 7:29 that the time is short- Souls are dying daily into eternity without hope and without God- Believers are commanded to share the gospel with everyone they meetIf you have not trusted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, Pastor Webster urges you — do not wait. And if you are already a believer, let this devotion stir you to act.Like, comment, share this video, and subscribe so you never miss a devotion.#WordsFromTheWord #KJV #BibleDevotion #ChristianLiving #GoodNewsBaptistChurchStay connected with GNBC:

Regardless of what our culture has come to believe, as a Christian, you have a mandate from Christ himself to share the gospel with others. We cannot believe that evangelism is a calling for someone else. We cannot leave the responsibility to others. No, we are all called by Jesus to be His witnesses.Main Points:1.  In my lifetime there has been a growing sentiment in our society that it's wrong to talk about matters of faith. People have come to believe it's improper to try to convert someone to become a follower of Jesus. Many now feel it's insensitive, impolite, and even rude to witness to them about Christ.2. Your message is good news. The truth that Jesus saves, forgives, heals, and delivers is good news. We live in a society filled with bad news, negativity, pessimism, gloom, and hopelessness. In the midst of all this darkness, people are desperate for some good news.3. Begin by telling people your story. Let them know what Jesus has done in your life and what He means to you. Remember, God has given you the Holy Spirit to empower you to be bold and courageous. You have everything you need to be an effective witness for Christ. Today's Scripture Verses:Acts 1:8 - “ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”1 Peter 3:15 - “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

Why does evangelism feel so difficult, and how can Christians grow in boldness when sharing the gospel? In this episode of Take Heart, Cory Wing explains that evangelism is not merely a method, personality type, or awkward religious duty, but the joyful proclamation of the good news that Jesus Christ reconciles sinners to God. Tracing God's missionary heart from Abraham to Israel, from the Gospels to the Great Commission, Cory encourages believers to trust the power of God's Word, pray for boldness, and begin with the lost people already around them.

If Synod's new ten-year church-planting vision is going to mean anything, it has to land somewhere ordinary: in one Christian noticing another. Part 2 of our conversation with Ralph Wigboldus starts exactly there. Asked how a small, tired congregation actually begins to raise up leaders, Ralph is refreshingly concrete. Stop living in silos. Don't be afraid to cross the room and talk to someone thirty or forty years younger than you. Discipleship happens with people you know. Willy grounds it in his own story, and Ralph answers with a testimony that shows why he's Reformed to the bone: after a season of rebellion, angry at God, others could have written him off, but it was God who held on to me, not the other way around. From there the conversation turns to two of Synod's harder debates, the WCRC decision and the question of whether a digital-only ministry is a church, and to Ralph's conviction that in an anxious, disconnected world the church's calling is to draw people out to embodied community. What carries the episode is why Ralph came home so full. After everything, he's still very much in love with this denomination. Synod felt like a family reunion. He closes with a charge for a hardening culture: in Canada a new law could brand Scripture as hate speech, and he and his co-pastor won't turn off the livestream to stay safe. Christ's work is not near finished, so speak boldly and share the gospel in love. Oscar welcomes Andy Churray, president of Vagabond Missions, to Ave Spotlight for a conversation about what it means to live on mission. Andy shares how Vagabond Missions brings the Gospel to inner-city neighborhoods by reaching young people who are often overlooked by traditional ministry. Rooted in Jesus' words that "the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head," their mission isn't built on flashy programs but on a simple philosophy: make a friend, be a friend, and bring a friend to Christ. Through stories of authentic relationships, Andy reminds listeners that evangelization begins not with projects or programs, but with presence, grace, and the courage to go where others will not. Three Takeaways: Mission begins with relationships. The Gospel spreads most powerfully through authentic friendships, not elaborate strategies. Create margin for people. Like Jesus, we must slow down enough to truly see, know, and accompany those around us. Grace comes before the checklist. Lasting evangelization isn't about completing tasks—it's about allowing Christ's love to overflow into the lives of others.

Many Christians hesitate to share their faith because they feel unqualified, unprepared, or unable to answer difficult questions. In this sermon from Matthew 28:16–20, we are reminded that the Great Commission is not reserved for especially gifted evangelists. It is the calling of every follower of Jesus. The disciples themselves received this commission while some were still wrestling with doubt. Their confidence did not rest in their knowledge or abilities, but in the authority of the risen Christ and His promise to remain with them always. The Samaritan woman in John 4 provides a powerful example. She had no theological training and did not have all the answers, but after encountering Jesus, she told others what He had done and invited them to meet Him. Many believed because of her testimony.Every Christian already knows the essential truths needed to begin: who Jesus is, why He came, and how we must respond. We should continue growing in biblical understanding, but we must not allow insecurity to keep us silent. Christ has called us to make disciples, empowered us by His Spirit, and promised to build His Church.

Paul asks if he's adequate to share the gospel. Was he? Let's find out together as we read 2 Corinthians 2:14-17 and Exodus 4:1-17.

CrossWay Community Church (Bristol, WI)

Discussion QuestionsSermon Overview When your loving, hopeful life provides an opportunity, be ready to share the gospel.Digging Deeper    A loving life (vv. 8-12)1. In this passage, Peter calls us, as believers, to have a unifying and affectionate love for one another (v. 8).  Gospel Communities are intended to be “a family of disciples on mission” who, among other things, have a “unifying and affectionate love for one another.”  What do you feel could be done to see this love be sustained and grow in Gospel Community?2. Among followers of Jesus, we may have lots of differences and yet, in Christ, have common ground in the most important matters. What has been your experience of this sort of Christian unity? Have you seen God knit your heart to another brother or sister in Christ with whom you might not have a lot in common (on a merely human level)? Please share.3. Our love for one another inside the church is actually one of the most powerful things we can do for people outside it. Have you ever seen (or experienced) Christian community that made someone on the outside stop and ask questions?4. Verses 9b - 12 are intended by Peter to help motivate us to, instead of repaying evil for evil, bless and do good to those who mistreat us. What specifically in these verses do you find helpful in motivating you to live the sort of life Peter is calling us to live?    A ready response (vv. 13 - 17)5. The sermon describes a progression — trust, live out, speak, and now share — where the gospel moves from inside us, outward to the church, and then out to the world. Does that progression feel natural to you, or does it feel like a big jump when it gets to sharing? What makes that last step feel different?6. “A different hope will shape a distinctive life, which will get questions for which we need a ready response.”  What are some of the ways you would say your life is distinctive from people who do not believe in Jesus because of your hope in Christ? 7. If someone in your life asked you today, "Why are you the way you are?" — what would you say? Take a shot at it together as a group.8. Think of one person in your life who doesn't know Jesus — a neighbor, coworker, family member, friend. Without sharing too much detail, what's one word that describes how you feel when you think about having a spiritual conversation with them?9. To what degree would you say you are ready to speak of Christ and his saving work in your life with someone who might ask you about “the hope that is in you”?  10. If you don't feel ready to do so, what might be a good next step toward becoming more ready? Prayer

Send us Fan MailKeeping faith quiet can feel like the safest option, especially when the culture feels louder, busier, and more skeptical than ever. But if the gospel really is good news, silence is not a neutral choice. We lean into Pope Paul VI's urgent, compassionate call to evangelization and ask what it looks like to speak the name of Jesus with confidence, without becoming pushy or performative. We walk through the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) as a mission for everyday believers: parents at home, students in class, coworkers in meetings, and neighbors across the fence. Drawing from Evangelii Nuntiandi, we talk about Christian witness that is rooted in Scripture, formed in prayer, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We also unpack why “modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers” and how simple choices like kindness, forgiveness, and peace can open real conversations about Christ. Fear is part of the story for most of us, so we get practical: how to start small, how to offer prayer in ordinary moments, and how to trust that the Spirit will give words when you need them (Luke 12:12, Matthew 10:19-20). We also share how visible reminders of faith, including meaningful Christian jewelry and Scripture-inspired accessories, can gently spark questions and create natural openings to share hope. If this encourages you, subscribe for more, share it with a friend who needs courage, and leave a review so more people can find the message. What if sharing your faith wasn't meant to feel forced? On Pentecost Sunday, we're reminded that the Holy Spirit empowers ordinary believers to live as witnesses for Jesus—not just through sermons, but through everyday life. This message explores: • What evangelism really means • Why Christians are called “living proof” • How Jesus engaged people relationally • The role of prayer and the Holy Spirit • Why your personal story matters • How to share the gospel naturally through everyday relationships The gospel spread through ordinary believers in the early church, and God still works through ordinary people today. You don't need all the answers. You simply need a life shaped by Jesus.

So, what motivates us to speak up, while the culture is trying to silence our voice? What enables us to push past our fear of offending someone to let them know what Jesus has done for us?  There is only one answer: it is our love for Jesus. We speak up because we love Jesus.Main Points:1. It's as simple as this: If we love Jesus, we will obey his command to make disciples. If we love Jesus, we will look for opportunities to tell others of His saving grace. We should not feel afraid or intimidated. We have been given the Holy Spirit for this very purpose, to empower us to be a witness.2. And remember, the gospel is good news. The truth that Jesus died for our sins and rose again is good news. That God would offer us grace, mercy, and forgiveness is good news. The promise of eternal life is good news. Why would we keep this good news from anyone?3. Our love for Jesus, must overcome our fear of offending people. Why do we assume they will be offended anyway? We don't know, but perhaps the Holy Spirit has been working in their heart and they are perfectly ready to hear the good news about Jesus. Today's Scripture Verses:Romans 10:14 - “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”2 Corinthians 5:14-15 - “For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”John 14:23 - “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.”1 Peter 3:15 - “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

Sharing the gospel with kids sounds simple, but one wrong word can create confusion that lasts for years. In this episode, Tom, Cole, Ben, and Vicki tackle the tough questions: Are you using too many Christian terms? Is your "hand raise" invitation actually clear? And what happens after kids say yes? These children's ministry leaders dig into why clarity matters, how to avoid confusing language like "ask Jesus into your heart," and why following up is just as important as the initial invitation. You'll hear real stories from Easter egg hunts and church camps where kids didn't actually understand what they were committing to—and practical strategies to prevent it. Whether you're presenting the gospel at a big event or every Sunday, this conversation will challenge how you share Jesus with the next generation. Discover why consistency, clear language, and discipleship are the keys to helping kids truly understand and remember the gospel. In this episode Nathan and Cameron explore a surprising connection between evangelism and the famous poem Archaic Torso of Apollo by Rainer Maria Rilke, unpacking how beauty, brokenness, and the call to “change your life” illuminate the Christian mission today. In this deep theological conversation, they discuss why many believers feel unprepared to share the gospel, how the biblical idea of “treasure in jars of clay” reframes evangelism, and why imperfect Christians can still powerfully point others to Jesus Christ. Drawing on insights from N. T. Wright, C. S. Lewis, and real-life experiences, Nathan and Cameron show how echoes of goodness, truth, and beauty can lead people toward faith—even when the messenger is flawed. This episode offers thoughtful Christian analysis of culture, art, and current conversations about faith, encouraging believers to overcome performance anxiety in evangelism and trust that God works through ordinary people to reveal the extraordinary power of the gospel.DONATE LINK: https://toltogether.com/donate BOOK A SPEAKER: https://toltogether.com/book-a-speakerJOIN TOL CONNECT: https://toltogether.com/tol-connect TOL Connect is an online forum where TOL listeners can continue the conversation begun on the podcast.
