Casey White extradited to Florence Alabama #CaseyWhite #VickyWhite #SheriffRickSingleton #Captured Escaped inmate Casey White is now back in Alabama. The capital murder suspect and former fugitive was appearing in a special court hearing. Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said a judge was placed on standby for White's arraignment Tuesday night. As he entered the courthouse, reporters asked Casey White if he loved Vicky White, the late corrections officer accused of aiding his escape, but he did not answer. Once the hearing ends, Singleton said, White will then be taken to the Alabama Department of Correction, not the county jail investigators say he escaped from on April 29 with help from Vicky White. White was transported to Florence, Alabama, from Evansville, Indiana, where he was captured Monday after a rollover crash. Investigators found the couple carrying $29,000 in cash, four handguns and an AR-15 rifle. They were prepared for a shootout when they were captured, according to Vanderburgh County, Indiana Sheriff Dave Wedding. Alabama escapee planned to end things with shootout, sheriff says After trailing them through three states, the U.S. Marshals Service tracked Casey White and Vicky White to a motel across from the sheriff's office in Evansville on Monday. The duo took off when they saw authorities there, leading U.S. marshals and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office on a chase that ended in the rollover crash initiated by a pit maneuver by investigators. Investigators say Vicky White shot herself at the scene and was rushed to the hospital. Vanderburgh County Coroner Steve Lockyear confirmed to a NewsNation affiliate that Vicky White died by suicide. Wedding said Casey White showed no remorse over the death of Vicky White, who authorities said he shared a special relationship with for the past two years. Wedding said Casey White also told investigators after his capture that “he was probably going to have a shootout at the stake of both of them losing their lives.” The sheriff continued that the crash initiated by a pit maneuver likely “saved many lives.” “We believe that they were leaving room 150 for good and traveling elsewhere,” Wedding said during an appearance Tuesday night on NewsNation's “Banfield.” Wedding also said he believes the couple had camping gear with them. Search for Alabama fugitives comes to an end in southern Indiana At the time of his escape, Casey White was charged with capital murder for a deadly stabbing and was already serving a 75-year sentence for a 2015 crime spree that involved a home invasion, carjacking and police chase. “I spoke to her mother. Her mother has been extremely distraught over the last several days, very stressed out,” Singleton said on NewsNation's “Banfield,” referring to Vicky White's mother. “They're good people, and you know, they are just as shocked as the rest of us that her daughter would do something like this,” Singleton added. It is unclear who will get the money that Casey and Vicky left behind during the police pursuit, however, Casey's mother will likely be the next person in line once it is released, according to Singleton. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/otcpod1/support

A Market Update for the First Half of 2018

Southwest Indiana Real Estate Podcast with Trae Dauby

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 29, 2018

It’s hard to believe it, but the first half of 2018 is already in the books. So now it’s time to take a look at how our market shaped up in that time. First of all, sales were down a total of 3% year over year across most of the seven counties I track, which are Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Spencer, Perry, Dubois, and Gibson. However, Vanderburgh and Warrick were each down 5%, Spencer County was down 20%, and Perry County was actually up over 30%. The big story in the first six months of 2018 was, once again, inventory. There still aren’t enough homes in the market. Believe it or not, supply is in worse shape than it was in 2017. Six of the seven counties I track are down 20% since last year in terms of inventory, while Vanderburgh County is actually down 30%. The inventory crisis is especially clear when you look at current supply in relation to statistics from the past five years. In June of 2013, there were about 2,300 homes on the market. In June of 2018, there were just 1,068. This is less than 50% of what was available five years ago. “The key to your success regardless of your goals will be to hire a Realtor who has plenty of experience with just market conditions.” Even so, the number of home sales has remained steady over time, which has contributed to high levels of demand among buyers in our market. We don’t have enough homes on the market right now to satisfy the number of interested buyers. Moving on, the average number of days on market has remained fairly steady as well. Listings spent an average of 63 days on market in 2017 and an average of 58 days on the market during the first half of this year. And sales price is another statistic which has stayed similar to what we saw last year. Since this time in 2017, the sales price has risen from the $154,000 range to the $155,000 range. Yet, with interest rates beginning to rise, homes are set to become less affordable in the future. This drop in affordability could help to even out our inventory levels, though. Overall, the lack of homes available in our market is good news if you’re looking to sell, but not so much if you have plans to buy. The key to your success regardless of your goals will be to hire a Realtor who has plenty of experience with just market conditions. They will know how to help you write a favorable offer, or how to help you market your listing and earn top dollar. If you have any other questions or would like more information, feel free to give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
