We've spent the last few months making our way through the book of John in our series, This Is The Way. We've examined the life and the way of Jesus, and soon we'll be looking at his death and resurrection.But sandwiched between those things is the account of the last night that Jesus spends with his disciples, in John 13-17. This is no doubt an extremely anxious time for everyone involved as Jesus is mere hours from the cross, and the disciples fear losing their way, their sense of belonging and identity, and their security.And that's a need and fear that we all experience. One of the things that connects us all as human beings is the need for home--a place of safety and security, where we are known and loved and at peace. In John 14, Jesus comforts his disciples by reminding them that the place, the home, that he's set aside for them isn't of an earthly nature, but a heavenly one. "Don't be troubled," Jesus says.
