Send us a textEpisode 183William Poole ~ The Butcher of the Five PointsNew York City, March 8th 1855. The streets of Lower Manhattan are a battleground of politics, power, and blood. At the heart of it all is William Poole—a gang leader, a prizefighter, a political enforcer, and a man whose very name struck fear into his enemies. That man is about to draw his last.Born into a butcher's family, Poole carved out his own empire, not with a cleaver but with his fists and his ruthless ambition. As leader of the Bowery Boys, he was a fierce advocate for the Know-Nothing Party, a group that thrived on nativist fear and anti-immigrant violence. He terrorized his rivals, clashed with the notorious Dead Rabbits, and made enemies in the city's most dangerous circles. But in the end, it wasn't the streets that took him down—it was a bullet.Who was William Poole? A patriot? A villain? Or just another product of a city where survival meant being the meanest man in the room? This is the story of William Poole—the Butcher of the Five Points.Support the showInsta@justpassingthroughpodcastContact:justpassingthroughpodcast@gmail.com

Hello, Folks, I am going to take a look back and a look forward in this month's article. Back in October, a gentleman by the name of William Poole noticed that the park gate near the Veteran's Memorial was in disrepair. Mr. Poole took it upon himself to contact City Hall and ask for permission to repair the gate. With that, he removed, repaired, and replaced the gate. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with this man's kind and giving spirit. Thank you, Mr. Poole! You are a wonderful human being, and I am glad that you live...Article Link

Chris Lee, Blake Lovell, and Blayne Gilmer preview the 2022 season for Georgia football, including predictions, players to watch, expectations on offense and defense, and much more. The Georgia Bulldogs are the defending national champions. Georgia's 33 - 18 victory over Alabama in January ended a 41-year national title drought for Georgia. Kirby Smart's team produced 15 NFL Draft picks, setting an all-time record in the modern draft era. Georgia returns 8 starters on offense and 5 on defense. Stetson Bennett IV continues to be one of the more overlooked quarterbacks in the league and the country heading into the 2022 season despite showing up for Georgia big time in the College Football Playoff. Jamon Dumas-Johnson is a name to know as the next leader of the Georgia defense at inside linebacker. Nolan Smith, Chris Smith, Robert Beal, and William Poole all return as well to provide leadership on a defense that will have a lot of new faces. Georgia opens up with the Oregon Ducks. That opener is likely to be Georgia's toughest regular season match until November. Even so, Georgia is opening up in some sportsbooks as an 18-point favorite. The win total over/under for Georgia is 11.

Mr. Upham is never at a loss to know what Mr. Mather- contemplated - on any occasion , - what - he longed for,--what - he would have been glad to have, - - what - he looked-upon with secret pleasure,- - and what - he was secretly and-cunningly endeavoring - to do. Mr. Peabody also knows when-- Cotton Mather was in his element,- and what he enjoyed-the great felicity of.- We do not hope to follow these writers-into the dark recesses of Mr. Mather's mind - but in the course-of this investigation we shall take up some of their statements-and examine them in the light of evidence that may be regarded as historical. We're joined again by friend of the show Shaun Arredondo for round two, this time to talk about notable racist and bare knuckle fighter, William Poole, better known as Bill the Butcher. Not because he was a butcher by trade though. More so because he loved leaving people as a bloody mess. Preferably the Irish because well, he hated them like only somebody of English descent can manage. Gangs of New York made him famous, and now we talk about the real man behind the character. Enjoy!

John Milton's Paradise Lost (1667) is widely recognised as the greatest epic poem in the English language – and it is buried in the commentary of thousands of other texts. William Poole, who is John Galsworthy Fellow and Tutor in English at New College, Oxford, has written what will be recognised as one of the most important contributions to this formidable body of scholarship. Elijah Muhammad was born Elijah Robert Poole in Sandersville, Georgia, the sixth of thirteen children to William Poole, Sr. (1868–1942), a Baptistlay preacher and sharecropper, and Mariah Hall (1873–1958), a homemaker and sharecropper. Poole's education ended at the fourth grade. To support the family, he worked with his parents as a sharecropper. When he was sixteen years old, he left home and began working in factories and at other businesses.
In episode #100, William Poole discusses the history of the Federal Reserve in the United States and the evolution of its mandates over time.
