Oh my! What a turnaround. This morning the White Ferns beat the West Indies to secure their place in the ICC Womens T20 World Cup final. South Africa awaits in a final bereft of the two biggest teams in women's cricket, the almost peerless Australians and the other perpetual thorn in the side of the Kiwis, England. This victory represents a changing of the guard at the pointed end of the women's game here. The transfer of power from the old school to the next generation looked to be a step too far for the side, who had relied on the immense talent of Devine, Bates, and Kerr for some time. This is not to dismiss the contribution of Tahuhu, one of the better stories of redemption in the team, nor the efforts of Green, Halliday, etc. The next tier of players though, had not shown the way forward, and the team had been staggering in transition. It took the World Cup for previous efforts to crystalize, with the likes of Eden Carson and Georgia Plimmer paying back the faith shown in them. This morning's game was a ripper but won't mean much if the title isn't secured on Monday. A note about Suzie Bates. She took the ball for the final over, after not bowling a ball in the tournament to date – a huge punt, but one that paid dividends as she showed that the veterans are far from a spent force.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The White Ferns are through to the final of the T20 World Cup in the UAE after beating the West Indies by eight runs in Sharjah. After tallying 128 for nine, New Zealand restricted the Windies to 120 for eight. Off-spinner Eden Carson was Player of the Match with bowling figures of 3 for 29. D'Arcy caught up with Sophie Devine to review their history-making performance. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The White Ferns have snapped their 10-match losing streak with an emphatic win over India at the T20 Womens World Cup. Former White Fern Frankie Mackay joins Piney to discuss the unexpected win for the team. “They came out with great intent. Openers put on a really good partnership to get things started, India looked rattled, and the really pleasing thing for me with that New Zealand side is they just didn't take the foot off the throat.” “They just did not give an inch back.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to the inside edge podcast with Bhavi Devchand. Our guest this week is Australian cricketer, Perth scorcher and proud Queenslander, Beth Mooney. Beth is one of the most sought after and dominant batters in world cricket, having hit #1 in the world following the Women's World cup in 2020 and topped batting charts for 3 years prior to that. Her story of getting there is a fascinating one, where she found herself leveraging her dark side in some grueling fitness regimes, that by her own admission crossed the line into an unhealthy obsession. Beth is someone who can hit thousands of balls and is still able to flick a switch to let go and trust the skills she has developed. This has not always been the case, but as she discusses, leading with deep humility and deep gratitude has helped her perform in huge games like the WT20 final in front of 87000 people. I'll go into these concepts and how they are relevant to performance at the end of the podcast, so be sure to hang around until the end. insideedgeproject.comhttp://linkedin.com/insideedgeprojecthttp://twitter.com/insideedgeprojhttp://instagram.com/insideedgeproject
