Welcome to the Bishop and Bear at Christmas. The perfect time to look back at the year in cricket. Being the friendly sort of boozer that we are, a whole bunch of guests have popped in to toast the season with you and of course your ursine landlord and episcopal barman. As the drink flowed, everyone was more than happy to share their highs and lows of the year and we had our own Guerilla style awards too. Heroes, Villains, Clowns, Top teams and Magic Moments (both on and off the field) were proposed and cogitated over. And a very broad selection we ended up with too, from Australia to Uganda and Josh Hull (who – listen and find out) to Glenn Maxwell. Along the way, we dive in and out of all of the following. · New Zealand series draw and the defeat that was a win for cricket · Diamonds on the soles of Joffra's shoes in Kimberley · Bangladesh – The forgotten series · IP Hell 2 months, 74 matches and a Duckworth Lewis Final · Ireland's 4 day Test (but they prioritised World Cup qualification – which went well) · Australia World Test Champions – and India practice being runners up · Moral Ashes – Broadway Broad and Dozy Jonny B · Women's Ashes Draw and World T20 – but not great Tests for England Women against Aus or India (despite Tammy's double ton) · New Zealand's Never-Ending Tour · Surrey Champions again – are they the Manchester City of English Cricket? · World Cup Disaaaaster Darling (and Moody Modi) · Much Wobbling in the Windies Do have a listen and most importantly, let us know who your choices would be for Hero; Villain; Clown; Team of the Year; On field moment and Off field moment. Our very best to you and yours for a fabulous holiday season and new year. We will be back to welcome you into the internets favourite virtual cricket pub in the new year. Season 2, Ep 6: Reloading lost episodes from the early Final Word. In its second season in early 2016, The Final Word got spicy - it covered white-ball cricket. Having only been about Test matches to this date, Australia's tour of New Zealand for Brendon McCullum's farewell series was enough to make us change our style. The Big Bash was at its peak, the first WBBL had been played, the World T20 was approaching, Shane Watson captained his country again, Virat Kohli had another crazy Australian tour, and a young leg-spinner named Adam Zampa made an impression. Meanwhile, Shane Warne was on reality TV complaining about Steve Waugh. This season was originally recorded for the ABC. New Zealand will start the 4th day of the second test in Wellington following on with a score of 202-3, still 24 runs behind. Despite a blistering knock from New Zealand captain Tim Southee, at the start of day three, England were able to make them bat again. First innings total of 209 was 226 runs behind. But a follow on fight back led by openers Devon Conway and Tom Latham, frustrated England and although they finally got their breakthrough in the final session they still have a lot of work to do in order to win the test. Correspondent Jonathan Agnew, Chief Cricket Writer Stephan Shemilt and former England bowler Steven Finn look back at the day. We also hear from the coach of England's women team, Jon Lewis after their semifinal defeat in the World T20 in South Africa.

Australia's defence on the Men's World T20 title got off to the worst possible start with an 89 run hammering at the hands of New Zealand. All-Rounder Marcus Stoinis was part of a bowling attack that got pummelled by the Black Caps and he was also dismissed by an early contender for catch of the tournament. However he told Aaron Bryans that the playing group are sure they will bounce back.

Isa Guha was the first woman of South Asian origin to represent England in sport when she made her international cricket debut in 2002, aged 17. Her career, which spanned a decade, included winning the 2009 Women's World Cup, Women's World T20 and three Ashes Series. Isa is now firmly established in sports media, having broken many barriers along the way both presenting and commentating for global broadcasters. She's currently an integral part of the Fox Cricket coverage in Australia and Test Match Special combined with heading up the BBC TV coverage in the UK. It's recently been announced that she will also be joining the BBC line up for Wimbledon this summer. As the first woman on the Professional Cricketers Association board, Isa has overseen an important time in the transition of the game as women strive for equity in cricket but also as the game aims to tackle racism. Isa is incredibly open as we discuss what more cricket can do to make the sport inclusive for women of all backgrounds and she shares how she built her broadcasting career. Isa also reflects on Shane Warne's legacy and the new foundation she is establishing in her mother's name, Take her lead. You can order Isa's mum's beautiful cookbook - Roma's Recipes - here.
