Through her many years in working with kids of all ages, Sissy has built a repertoire of skills and understanding to help champion kids and parents to live a full life, build emotional resilience, navigate complex emotions, and cultivate meaningful relationships.Regardless of whether you are a parent or just love growing ones around you, I can't recommend this conversation enough.Sissy is a warm hug, an understanding ear, and a wise soul that meets you where you are, offers compassion regardless of circumstance, and provides practical ways to find your footing again.Learn more about Sissy and Daystar counseling here: https://www.daystarcounseling.comFollow Sissy Goff on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/sissygoff

Is that the approach that parents should take with their kids, helping them see what's real or not?How do you see the lesson on resilience in “Owen Learns He Has What it Takes” as an important biblical principle for families? How do you help parents decide when it's appropriate to let their kids face difficult circumstances and resist the temptation just to rescue them from their challenges? Can you explain what a “thermometer chart” is for and why you wanted to include that in the book? Can you tell us how you use a “feelings chart” in your counseling with kids? Can you tell us more about the books you have coming out this fall? Are these resources you see churches being able to use?How would you connect what y'all are teaching in these books with what Spiritual Leadership looks like at home?Guest Bio:Sissy Goff is the Executive Director of Daystar Counseling Ministries in Nashville, Tennessee, where she works alongside her puppy counseling assistant-in-training, Patches the Havanese. We discuss shifting from focusing on how to get friends to how to be a good friend. Sissy breaks down the girl issues that arise with anxiety, feelings of isolation or being left out, and moms who sometimes care more than their daughters about certain social situations. This is a perfect episode heading into back-to-school season as we prepare to navigate relationships alongside our kids.  Connect with David Thomas and Sissy Goff:  Website:  Raising Boys and Girls Facebook: Raising Boys and Girls Instagram:  Sissy Goff (@sissygoff) and Raising Boys and Girls (@raisingboysandgirls) Podcast: Podcast | Raising Boys and Girls Summer of Mentorship Discussion Questions: What stood out to you in the week's episode? Statistics are showing an increase of worry and anxiety in children.  This will be a little different from our usual episode but the Bible has a lot to say about this so we thought we should address it.  We will differentiate between fear, worry, and and anxiety and give each emotion their own episode.  Today we discuss fear: Are there good fears? ie; fear of fire, or fear of the Lord Can fear lie to us? Why does God tell us not to be afraid? What promise does he give with it **If you would like to hear all of David and Goliath that episode is :#112 "There's no one like you." #307 "What if David had a Bad Attitude" is a shortened version with a different application.
