The Fruitloops: Serial Killers of Color podcast is a true crime podcast that focuses on exploring the stories of serial killers who are people of color. Hosted by Wendy and Beth, this podcast has garnered a loyal following over the years.
One of the best aspects of The Fruitloops podcast is the dedication to providing historical and cultural context for each case. Wendy and Beth go beyond just discussing the crimes themselves, delving into the societal factors that may have influenced both the victims and perpetrators. This unique perspective adds depth to the storytelling and sets this podcast apart from others in the genre.
Another standout feature of The Fruitloops podcast is their commitment to highlighting marginalized voices and shedding light on lesser-known cases. They discuss not only infamous American serial killers but also delve into cases that have been overlooked or forgotten. This inclusivity allows listeners to learn about a diverse range of criminals and their victims.
Additionally, Wendy and Beth's chemistry as hosts is evident throughout each episode. Their banter and humor create an engaging listening experience, making it feel like you're having a conversation with friends. The genuine friendship between them shines through, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the show.
As for the worst aspects of The Fruitloops podcast, some reviews mention that it may not be everyone's cup of tea if they prefer podcasts solely focused on notorious American serial killers. While this podcast covers a variety of cases, including those involving famous killers, its primary focus is on providing a platform for underrepresented stories in true crime.
In conclusion, The Fruitloops: Serial Killers of Color podcast stands out among true crime podcasts for its unique approach to storytelling. Wendy and Beth's dedication to sharing diverse narratives from different cultures and backgrounds sets this podcast apart from others in the genre. With their humor, research-driven episodes, and commitment to inclusivity, The Fruitloops offers an informative yet entertaining listening experience for those interested in true crime with a fresh perspective.
Fruitloops has to take a break this week, but we didn't want to leave you hanging, so please enjoy this Video Club episode from 2023 when Fruitloops Video Club reviewed the docuseries Jared from Subway: Catching a Monster. Synopsis: “For almost a decade beginning in the early 2000s, there was no one more recognizable than Subway spokesman Jared Fogle, whose story of overcoming obesity through a diet of Subway sandwiches was an inspiration. But in 2015, Americans were stunned when authorities brought multiple charges of child endangerment against "Jared from Subway'' and his business partner, Russell Taylor. ID's new three-part series, JARED FROM SUBWAY: CATCHING A MONSTER, reveals the shocking, previously untold story of the investigation that exposed the monster insidiously lurking behind Fogle's charming persona and how his true nature as a child sex predator was finally revealed.” https://www.max.com/shows/jared-from-subway-catching-a-monster/dbc8c075-319e-455f-bfa9-b65bf84a9c1e Music “Blue Light Special” by Marlene Miller. Wendy & Beth are taking a break this week, so please enjoy this episode from 2020, The Atlanta Child Murders Pt 2 (look for Pt 1 in your feed). Today we are talking about the Atlanta Child Murders. Between 1979 and 1981, children and teenagers were disappearing off the streets of Atlanta, later turning up dead, terrifying the entire city. At least 28 people in the Atlanta area, most of them young black boys and teenagers, were kidnapped and murdered. This case is complicated. So to do it justice, we felt we had to turn it into a two parter. We encourage you to check out our show notes for additional information about the case. Thanks for listening! In Ohio, a black woman's body is found beneath a bridge and labeled Victim #8. In New York, a black woman found dead inside a storage tote will become known as Peaches for the heart shaped peach tattoo on her breast. And in Georgia, a black woman's bones are found in the underbrush by a man walking his dog. Like many women of color who came before and after them, their stories fade from news coverage - if they're covered at all. What is missing white woman syndrome and how does it translate to unidentified bodies cases? We explore the stories of nine unidentified black women from across the United States and spanning over seventy years in order to find out what happened and why media coverage matters. This week, we're joined by Wendy Williams and Beth Williams, hosts of the award-winning true crime podcast Fruitloops. Fruitloops was born out of their desire to create a podcast with diverse voices covering diverse stories. You can listen to Wendy and Beth on Fruitlioops, now with over 200 episodes, wherever you get your podcasts including as part of the Evergreen lineup of podcasts. Learn more about your ad choices. Back in March, for our Video Club, Fruitloops reviewed the documentary Crack: Cocaine, Corruption & Conspiracy. About the documentary: "In the early 1980s, the crack epidemic tore through America's inner cities like a tsunami, ravaging all in its wake. Decades later, the destructive effects on people's lives, families and communities are still deeply felt. Crack: Cocaine, Corruption & Conspiracy examines not only the personal devastation caused by the drug, but also the shadowy origins of the crisis and the resultant, ongoing marginalization of Black and Brown people trapped by the U.S. prison and healthcare systems." https://www.netflix.com/title/80988518 Music “Gotta Get it” & “Torey” by Arulo Mixkit Stock Music Free License https://mixkit.co/free-stock-music/trap/ Connect with us on: Twitter @FruitLoopsPod Instagram https://www.instagram.com/fruitloopspod Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Fruitloopspod and https://www.facebook.com/groups/fruitloopspod Learn more about your ad choices. While Wendy and Beth enjoy a much needed break, please enjoy this episode from the Evergreen show Who Killed...? On this week's episode we look into the horrible crimes committed by racist Joseph Paul Franklin. From 1977-1980, Franklin raged his very own race war as he traveled the country murdering at his discretion. This is truly one of the worst people I have ever researched. A riveting, cautionary tale rooted in history that continues to echo today, The Killer's Shadow is a terrifying and essential exploration of the criminal personality in the vile grip of extremism and what happens when rage-filled speech evolves into deadly action and hatred of the “other" is allowed full reign. -The Killer's Shadow Sources: Murderpedia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0HgdWWSCaI The Killer's Shadow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8sYQwK6Fpk Learn more about your ad choices.
