Max Burkholder stars as the lead of Seth MacFarlane's critically acclaimed series TED, a prequel to the hit film franchise. He plays the leading role of “John Bennet” (the younger version of Mark Wahlberg's character from the films), a good-hearted teenager who is still in his awkward teenage phase. With Ted's help, John hilariously navigates adolescence, dealing with everything from first dates to high school bullies. Premiering on January 11, 2024, Ted launched as Peacock's most-watched original title ever through its first three days on the platform. Burkholder is perhaps best known for his portrayal of “Max Braverman” in NBC's long running award-winning series PARENTHOOD, from producers Jason Katims, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Here Max raised awareness while portraying a young boy with Asperger's syndrome. After the second episode aired, Asperger's was one of the most frequently searched terms on Google. He also played the lead role in Paramount TV's WHEN THE STREET LIGHTS GO ON for DGA, Oscar, IDA, and Emmy-nominated director Brett Morgen. His notable recurring roles include HBO's IN TREATMENT and BROTHERS AND SISTERS. In film, Burkholder starred in Debra Eisenstadt's hit Sundance comedy BLUSH opposite Wendy McLendon-Covey; and in the title role of BENJAMIN, alongside comedy veterans Rob Corddry, Kevin Pollak and Dave Foley. Burkholder began his career at a very young age in films including DADDY DAY CARE directed by Steve Carr, FRIENDS WITH MONEY directed by Nicole Holofcener, and a starring role in the Michael Bay-produced hit feature THE PURGE opposite Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey. In the world of voiceover, Burkholder has voiced characters on a number of hit series including Amazon Prime's INVINCIBLE, FAMILY GUY, THE CLEVELAND SHOW, AMERICAN DAD and THE LAND BEFORE TIME. So, this is a largely spoiler-free round-table discussion on those seasons, to give you folks who haven't yet watched it incentive to maybe give it a go, along with details and character development to keep an eye on. Welcome back to 50Talk. We are glad you all decided to join us again. I personally hope I didn't scare anyone off after last weeks intense episode. Hey I can't help it, I get passionate about somethings and coffee doesn't help either. This week Cathy and I are back on track to start this fall season. We're getting the show out on time and promoting our Social Media sites. We do hope to start getting some guest back on to join in on the conversation. So back to Episode 83. Let's Get It!This week we start the show off by talking about some College Football. We are into week two of the season and the games have been incredible. Kind of feels like the season just picked up where it left off. My team is undefeated and Alabama has one loss. What I really want to talk about is Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes. They are the talk of sports these past few weeks and so far they deserve it. Shadeur Sanders is playing at a high level and deserves the praise he's been getting. Listen to me go on about how Deon got to Colorado and what he did for his son. Victor wants to know "What is going on in our bedroom" . Get your minds out of the gutter, but this is a good conversation that I think we all can relate too. At least I think. We have this big giant bed we don't use half of it. Enjoy this conversation and if you want to add more to it please send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.comNow we both want to know "why people change in relationships", we've been together for almost 30 years and man is the relationship changing. We are not perfect and we really do want to hear from you guys about what you think is the deal. We may come across as if we aren't getting along but we are. We're just fine, we're just trying to figure some things out as we move forward. I had a medical procedure last week and Cathy told me I'm a horrible patient! Well, why am I a terrible patient you ask? I just don't like pain and when it's around it could possibly change everything. So you never know what kind of patient your gonna get.Why did the NFL allow YouTube Television customers the ability to purchase The Sunday Ticket? For years it's only been on Directv and that's it. Why all of a sudden did they switch? I have a theory but to me the NFL can kick rocks on whatever platform. Staying with the entertainment, Cathy and I (mostly me) have been watching Lioness on Paramount TV and Ahsoka on Disney Plus. They have to be the summers best shows in mind any way. If you have either of those services you have to check them both out.To end the show we close it with a big "Congratulations" to Coco Gauf for winning the U.S. Open. Her first Grand Slam title and she is only 19 years old. This win didn't come without controversy though. Her opponent was pushing the limits during the entire match. We discuss and my rationale is Whit Fragility of this new word I heard today, "Caucasity". You tell me what you think about what happened and her response. Thanks for joining us this week, We hope to see you all back next week for Episode 84 and as we move closer to our 100th episode.

Mark interviews Canadian author Edo van Belkom about his life in writing, and the January 2023 the Paramount+ TV series adaptation of his Silver Birch Award-Winning Novel WOLF PACK by Jeff Davis and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Prior to the interview, Mark shares comments from recent episodes, a brief personal update, welcomes new Patron Dharma Kelleher, and a word about this episode's sponsor. You can learn more about how you can get your audiobooks distributed to retailers and library systems around the world at starkreflections.ca/Findaway. In their conversation, Mark and Edo talk about: An old picture of the two of them at a "Sci-Fi Saturday" multi-author event from the late 90s where Mark was one of the managers (Attendees were David Shrogryn, Edo van Belkom, Carolyn Clink, Robert J. Sawyer, Douglas Smith, Andrew Weiner, Mark Leslie, Sally Tomasevic, Marcel Gagne) Edo's journey as a writer, beginning with his first published short story being published in an annual "Year's Best" anthology Writing about six or seven novels before his first one sold, and writing books that weren't published until more than twenty-five years later Working on gaming-tie-in related novels Landing his agent after having a short story appear in one of Jeff Gelb's "Hot Blood" anthologies Following his wife's advice to write a YA novel, which became the award-winning novel Wolf Pack and how that book was sold over a telephone pitch/proposal Having a couple of his mass market paperback novels (Scream Queen and Blood Road) be optioned for films Some of the silly things that writers hear when speaking to non-writers at parties such as "why don't you write a bestseller?" What being nominated for the Silver Birch Award did for that book Winning the Silverbirch Award Going from selling 10,000 copies of the first book in the series to only about 1,000 or so copies of the 2nd and 3rd books in that series How the greatest part of winning the Silver Biirch Award was the live event at a small stadium in downtown Toronto, Ontario Winning the Bram Stoker Award for a short story ("Rat Food") that he co-authored with David Nickle What it was like co-authoring a story well before the days of the internet Edo's short story collection Death Drives a Semi and how, when looking for places to market it, he found a trucker magazine that he ended up writing a series of stories in for fifteen years The "Mark Dalton: Owner, Operator" series of stories Converting a one-day workshop for truckers about fuel efficient driving practices into a novel Details and experiences related to the ice roads in Canada's Northwest Territories. (Ice roads are seasonal winter roads built over frozen bodies of water. The ice roads in Canada are about 400 KM (250 miles) long and are built over 64 frozen lakes The story behind how Wolf Pack got turned into a new Paramount+ television series What it was like seeing a teaser trailer for "Wolf Pack" after a year of hearing nothing about the option deal that had been signed How the book "Wolf Pack" got into the hands of Jeff Davis What it was like to be in Los Angeles for the premiere of the series, including walking the red carpet Seeing his name in the show's opening credits "Based on the novels by Edo van Belkom" Some of what's planned for the home-town showing of the first episode in the series in Brampton, Ontario Why, if he can help it, Edo plans on not doing any more soul-crushing in store book signings any longer And more... Our good friend Gianni Russo returns to The Kenny & JT Show. Of course, he played Carlo Rizzi in “The Godfather”. We pay him a surprise call because we caught the “Godfather” marathon over Father's Day weekend on Paramount TV. Of the many things we discuss, Gianni fills us in on early plans for the 50th anniversary of the original film. Plus, he talks about a one-man show he'll be doing on Broadway based on his autobiography, “Hollywood Gangster”.
Kevin had the honor to talk to bestselling author Gregory David Roberts. You may know him from his captivating novel Shantaram, a book that sold over 6 million copies, which literally changed my entire viewpoint on life and helped me to understand what true generosity and living a well-lived life is all about. Some exciting news is that Apple TV + and Paramount TV are currently turning Shantaram and its sequel, The Mountain Shadow, into a TV series (currently in production). It's no secret that Gregory was at one time a wanted man in Australia, in fact at one time, he was Australia's Most Wanted man, having served serious time in prison there. Yet Gregory transformed his entire life going on to become a critically acclaimed author, ethics consultant and a public speaker. What you might not know is that Gregory's also a talented musician, releasing his debut album in 2020 called Love& Faith, which was recorded in Jamaica and features talented local musicians and singers. In this interview, I got to talk about Gregory's latest book, The Spiritual Path, which is a non-fiction book about Gregory's experience with his spiritual practice over the course of 6 years while he lived off the grid. It's clear that when Gregory decides to do something, he puts his whole heart and being into it. After reading the book, I could see that when Gregory decided to go off the grid and devote fully devote himself to the spiritual path, he was able to tap into a source of extraordinary wisdom that we as readers get to really benefit from. One wonderful surprise that came out during our interview is that Gregory was not only familiar with Stoic philosophy, but found the core principles of Stoicism tremendously helpful during tough times, specifically while serving time. Mean Girls, Sunday in the Park with George, The King and I...We met at 18, and now one of us is a TV star, a Tony Nominee, and has Tina Fey's cell phone number. ASHLEY PARK IS HERE!! We love this girl and we're so grateful she took an afternoon to talk to us. Ashley is currently (well ... in lockdown like all of us) but she was working on the Paramount TV series Emily in Paris and slated to star in Thoroughly Modern Millie at City Center when the world shut down. She shot the Netflix reboot of Tales of the City while finishing her run in Mean Girls. If THAT is not an actor's dream, I don't know what is. We talk about how she showed up in a fabulous hat to Joe's wedding (a hat that later found its way into Emily in Paris), where she found her "funny", and she calls out Dan on their... history. Here's to us, who's like us, damn few.
It's sex and coronavirus in the city this week on The Halli Casser-Jayne Show when joining Halli at her table is her partner in politics, journalist and former White House corespondent, Matthew Cooper. And in our second half-hour, when we take a much-needed breather from politics and turn to sex, Halli catches up with SEX AND THE CITY author Candace Bushnell. We begin with Halli and Matt. As the amount of Americans dead from Covid-19 rises to above 85,000 and Trump's pandemic advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci testifies before Congress that the real number of deaths are probably much higher, Trump tries to turn the conversation from the Coronavirus Pandemic. Trump's favorite diversion? Conspiracy politics this time in the guise of Obamagate, Flynngate and Russiagate, his new Hillarygate. The stories are compounded when Trump's personal attorney, the Attorney General of the United States,William Barr, launches a scheme to exonerate Trump's once NSA chief, Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. What is Trump up to? Halli has a theory. Does Matt concur? And that's just where we begin. In our second half-hour we turn from politics to sex. She's back. That's Candace Bushnell is back! BUSHNELL, the critically acclaimed, internationally bestselling author of SEX AND THE CITY, LIPSTICK JUNGLE, THE CARRIE DIARIES, and more gets real with Halli. SEX AND THE CITY, published in 1996, was the basis for the HBO hit series and two subsequent blockbuster movies, her characters the women we all wished we might be and whose lives we just might want to have. Now Bushnell, a middle-aged woman, brings us IS THERE STILL SEX IN THE CITY? in which she looks at love and life from a more seasoned view in yet another winner for the irrepressible Bushnell. By the way, a new TV series is in the works with Paramount TV with Bushnell as executive producer and writing the pilot. You go girl! Join us for some much needed fun. Sex and coronavirus in the city, Flynngate, Obamagate, Russiagate. Remember Election2020 and Democratic hopful Joe biden? Is Trump still being audited? Trump's tax returns saga makes it to the Supreme Court. Senator Richard Burr, now there's a story. Grace Kim is a Korean-American filmmaker and writer who uses absurdist and surrealist premises in film as a vehicle for sowing empathy. Dropping audiences into the otherworldly circumstances of her characters, she seeks to reflect to viewers their own humanity. If one is able to resonate with the loneliness of say, a man desperate for love after hearing a woman's voice on the other side of a banana phone, could human empathy not transcend arbitrary boundaries of race, gender, class, and beyond? Currently, Grace is in development for an animated TV series about climate change, The Grand Tammy, which was a second rounder for the Sundance Episodic Lab. She is a Viacom Viewfinder Program fellow and recently shadowed director/executive producer Dime Davis on the Paramount TV series Boomerang, executive produced by Lena Waithe and Halle Berry. In addition to television, Grace is a Picture Farm Directing Program fellow for female commercial directors. Grace's award-winning short films have screened at the Hamptons International Film Festival, Tall Grass Film Festival, and Sidewalk Film Festival amongst others. Her debut short Loveseat was a finalist for the Horizon Award at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and the Loveseat script was a quarterfinalist for the Screen Craft Short Film Fund. The script for her latest project Fissura was a finalist for the Cascadia International Women's Film Festival Script Studio as well as one of the top 100 submissions for the Shift Creative Fund. Grace was also a part of Ghetto Film School's EMERGE8 semi-finalists for their inaugural emerging directors program. Her work has been supported by the NYC Women's Fund funded by the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment and NYFA. Her upcoming projects include Heart Tick Kaboom, a short film commissioned by Atlanta Film Society for the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport which will screen on the 500 screens throughout the airport starting in April 2020 and a narrative dance film, Fissura, which is slated to shoot in September 2020 and is supported in part by the Brooklyn Arts Council. Deep in the bowels of CPN Studios, there lies a chamber only the greatest TV characters can enter – the funniest, the grumpiest, the maddest visages the television medium has to offer. There, we honor the breakout comic relief, the magnetically flawed protagonist, the one-time guest character that defines an entire series. This is where we hoard TV’s most valuable visages. This… is the Hall of Faces. This week, Allison and Clint are joined by their pals and confidantes Kris Vire (theater critic for the Chicago Sun-Times and elsewhere) and Joshua Davis to lounge out on the lanai and pick their favorite Golden Girl! The Emmy-winning sitcom about four older women embracing their second adolescence while living together in Miami is one of television's greatest treasures, so we decided to honor these esteemed ladies by making them battle it out for a spot in our Hall of Faces.Who will it be - Bea Arthur's sardonic Dorothy Zbornak? Betty White's ditzy Rose Nylund? Rue McClanahan's man-hungry Blanche Devereaux? or Estelle Getty's irascible Sophia Petrillo?
