The DA presented five weeks of evidence in People v. Letecia Stauch in Colorado Springs. And while prosecutors secured a conviction in 2023, this case may have been compromised long before opening statements ever began. In April 2026, the Colorado Court of Appeals granted Letecia Stauch a new trial, pointing to a critical issue of juror bias. At the center of it all? A juror who was the father-in-law of a local prosecutor working within the same district attorney's office that tried the case. Under Colorado law, that kind of relationship raises serious concerns about impartiality, and it's exactly the type of issue that can unravel an entire verdict. So how did this happen? And why wasn't it caught before the trial ever started? Join Margot as she breaks down what the appellate court actually decided, why juror bias is such a big deal legally, and what prosecutors are likely to do next… ⸻
