"The most oppressed minority: gamers." It's 2024! And we talk for a bit about how Nimona (2023) was released in (2023)! Whoops. We took a break for a while but we're getting back into it. This is a good movie and this is a good movie podcast episode about a good movie. We also talk about The Last of Us (the video game and tv show). Enjoy.

"Marriage Story but it's Donkey and Dragon." Welcome back, all you shreaks. Put your shrocs on, get a shrack, and shruddle up with us while we discuss Shrek 2 (2004). We talk about the Shrek gospel, what we would get cancelled for, and the future of the Shrekiverse. This episode is a little unhinged but stick with us cause I swear it gets good.

"It checked the box for plot." It took some getting there but after 2 months and some heated arguments over the definitions of a comedy, a coming of age movie, and misogynistic actions, we finally reviewed Superbad (2007). Jordine joins the boys on this episode and presents her declaration of the two kinds of comedy films, so don't miss out.

"Inside of you there are two wolves and one has a duel deck." This episode, we get a good look at the Daniels' first feature film: Swiss Army Man (2016). It's a good time talking about giving Hank a hug, Sarah's involvement in the story, and why Manny the corpse is so much more than a boner compass. Hashem makes Leander upset too, so make sure to listen till the end.

"I'd like to walk that all back." In hot anticipation of Oppenheimer, we take a gander at a big classic: Dr Strangelove or: How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love the Bomb (1964). Grab a snack because we get into Stanley Kubrick's directing style, the way we watch black and white movies, and how to go about our daily lives with the threat of nukes hanging above our heads at all times. (Pro tip: the trick is to stop thinking about it).

"He's in a jungle. Wearing beige." This week's pick got us a bit of a longer episode with a discussion on Good Time (2017) and a larger analysis of today's Hollywood. We get into the mud talking about Robert Pattinson and Nicolas Cage's comebacks, what a movie has to accomplish to have you sit through the credits, and the parallels between Fortnite and Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.

"You're willing to die on this hill?" The tables turn this week! Hashem brings in another hot classic, Accepted (2006). After a lengthy discussion about...nothing...Leander manages to get his head around the thesis statement of this hard-hitting psychological drama comedy thriller coming-of-age college film.

"My heart is not made of obsidian." We pull out a classic this episode with The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010), featuring Nicholas Cage, Secrets by OneRepublic, and a severe lack of melancholy. Tune in to find out who's wrong this week.

"Hashem's in his Scorsese arc." This episode, we have some fun! Jordine joins the episode for a review and celebration of Jump Cut so far. She hosts her own talk show with Green Goblin and the Green Knight -- I mean Hashem and Leander, with some hard hitting questions about Jump Cut's humble beginnings, and quizzes them on their podcast and co-host knowledge. "Nintendo isn't the government of Japan." We review another banger of a recommendation from Leander this week: Old Boy (2003). Before we get into the nitty-gritty of it though, we take some time away from our hard-hitting journalism to check in on what's been up in the boys' lives lately. Hashem gives a shout out to the gym rats out there and Leander rejects the title of 'tech bro'. In all seriousness, we have some really insightful discussions on the thesis statement of Old Boy, so pop a squat and have a listen.

"The woke mind virus got to us." It's about time we got back to a regular posting schedule! Haha! This week, Hashem and Leander get into some seriously involved discussions about autonomy in time travel movies, the lost potential of this film, and their own ideas of how "About Time" (2013) could've easily been fixed.

"That's so anime." This week we find out that everything is not what it seems. We watched In Bruges (2008). Hashem and Leander get into some absolutely artistic and scholarly discussion about the nuances of imprecise dialogue, religion's absolute ideals of morality, and even get a little meta talking about how movie ratings and reviews are formed. It's a wild one and the boys spit FIRE this episode, so don't miss out.

"Do you classify a genre by its style or substance?" Welcome back to Jump Cut, and boy do we have a banger this week! Today we're talking No Country for Old Men (2007) and how death exists in that movie. We ignore everything about the movie and focus on the philosophy, as real film bros do. Today we talk some avant-garde cinema; The Muppet Movie (2011), and how it's the greatest comedies of our generation. Leander and Hashem discuss adult animation, why Big Mouth sucks now, the fall of the Simpsons, and why Futurama is the GOAT. Tune in with us, and don't forget the cough syrup!

"You and the homies, sitting around, talking about the Lighthouse, the gayest movie to ever exist." On this weeks episode, we get some real head butting, as Leander and Hashem talk The Lighthouse (2019), a movie about everything, and nothing. We go through what online reviews can do to a movie, does the movie even have meaning, or maybe, it's all us going insane on an island together. Does a movie really need a cohesive plot? Who knows, cause we sure don't!

"There are parents, if you really wanna get your rocks off." For the third official Halloween Double Feature, we get some spooky picks in with Werewolf By Night (2022) and The Fear Street Trilogy (2021). In our jump-scariest episode yet, Hashem and Leander find a common ground in discussing how new media pays homage to the films that (some) horror fans hold so dearly today. Happy Halloween!

"He's a right piece of shit." Hashem and Leander dive deep into their this fetch quest for the meaning behind The Green Knight (2021). They tried stringing along Hashem's dad and Jordine, but it didn't go very well, so it's now your job to come along for the ride and make up for it. The boys navigate the three-way venn diagram of "time passing", "death's inevitability", and "nature overcoming all". In the end, they realize that the real message was the friends they made along the way.

"Goku's kamehameha doesn't look the same." Jump Cut is back for another anime movie. Pop in for our review and analysis of Paprika (2006). We talk about this ridiculously star studded cast, Hashem's appreciation of the french language, and Leander's limited ability for object permanence.

Hashem and Leander discuss the socioeconomic implications of the B-Bots in the textbook example film of capitalistic theory, Ron's Gone Wrong (2021). This week, we talk Ghost in the Shell (1995), and actively try to avoid talking about the live action remake. We get introspective, what makes a lifeform, and come to the conclusion that maybe nukes are bad? We also address how versatile Scarlet Johansson is as an actress, and what makes adaptations worthwhile!

"Girls are impressed by the amount of games you play." "I don't care about kids being kids." "I have taxes to pay." 3 quotes here because this episode is a DOOZY. Hashem and Leander go head to head again, reviewing Little Women (2019). It's a fight for the ages! Spoiler alert: one of our co-hosts has prejudice against kids, women, and happiness. "Yeah, this move is pretty good!" Welcome back everyone! Today we're reviewing Leander's (favourite?) movie pick, Interstellar (2014). We're finally bringing some polish to the podcast, and taking notes! And boy is this the movie to do it for. We talk propaganda, why the moon landing is fake, and what makes humans survive. Starting this episode, we'll be branching into psychology, and exploring what every character's motivations mean! And who best to do it than us at Jump Cut!

"There has been a murda at the manor!" Here we are again, reviewing another good movie, Knives Out (2019). We're back into gamer talk, what is a whodunit, and why The Office season 1 won't age well (Sorry Leander). This episode marks our departure from adlibing, we're finally going to clean up our act! Expect more notes, more nuance, and more hot takes!

"I've never surfed before but it felt like surfing." The prequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming! Michael Keaton graces our screens as Birdman. Or anything but Birdman? But then again, Birdman. We also review The Batman. Jury's still out on if the boys are getting cancelled once again, but you'll have to listen and draw your own conclusions!

"This movie is not as good as Hocus Pocus." Editor Jordine is to thank for another banger pick: Night at the Museum (2006). In this episode, the boys follow the dinosaur footsteps into the museum of natural history. There, they discover a dislike for kids adventure movies, seek out a semblance of a plot, and travel through the space between Ricky Gervais' PG-13 and R-rated characters.

"No Jump Cut until you eat your video games." Thwip! Thwip! We're back for part 2 of our Spider-Man Saga review. We got deep into the world of Marvel's Spider-Man movies (2017-2021), but not before spending 1/3 of this episode (and trust me, it's a long one) figuring out how to turn Jump Cut into a video game podcast. We're still determining when the re-brand will happen. Thwip thwip, see you next time!

"If you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best." The terrible trio is back! Leander (gaslight), Hashem (gatekeep), and Jordine (girlboss) are back in action, reviewing every live action Spider-Man movie at our disposal. Except we argued a lot while we did it, so this will be a two-parter. This first half includes Spider-Man 1-3, and The Amazing Spider-Man 1-2. Next episode, we'll finish off with the MCU Spider-Man movies. Hopefully our friendships are stronger than that of Harry Osborn and Peter Parker, and we'll be able to come back after this whole Spider-Man fiasco with our regularly scheduled programming.

"It's just copaganda, that's all I'm saying." This week, we bring Leander into the zeitgeist and talk Toy Story 1-4 (1995-2019) among other Pixar movies. We outline the difference between family and kids movies, what makes Pixar so great (repeatability, baby), and consider checking ourselves into Leaguehab.

"We're in season 2. Shit matters now." This week, a couple of sick boys review a Ben Stiller classic: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013). "Why does it have to be the League show?." Please welcome special guest, Noelle, as we celebrate our 50th episode by not talking about a movie at all! Arcane was just too good. It got everybody to listen to Imagine Dragons again! Also, at the time of releasing this episode, Leander has completed his third rewatch of Arcane, and Hashem's roped all four of us {Leander, Hashem, guest Noelle, editor Jordine) into his new Discord server solely for playing League of Legends together. We are all officially...degenerates.
