Jeff grew up in the DMV in the Rockville/Potomac area.Lisa and Jeff also talk about the longevity of some of the '80s bands, and how they finally seem to be getting respect after all these years.

Ellen Shannon, Executive Director for the National Capital Area Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide, drops by the BIG 100 studio.She and Lisa talk about the upcoming 'Out of the Darkness' walks that are happening in our area. Lisa will be hosting the Fairfax walk on Sept. 29 at Fairfax City Hall.They also discuss the important work that AFSP is involved with everyday, and the establishment of the 988 national suicide hotline.

The band will recreate the Beatles first-ever U.S. concert (which took place in D.C.) and do second set with the orchestra. Joining Lisa for Day 12 in the '12 Strays of Xmas' on BIG 100 is Jessica Mihalick from A Forever Home Rescue Foundation, based in Northern Virginia. Jessica tells us all about Harry, a beautiful puppy who has been in a foster home with her organization, but is now ready to find his forever home.

Lisa talks with Brooke Ciardi from Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center about the '12 Strays of Xmas.' The 'Stray of the Day' for Day 11 is a beautiful dog named Rihanna, who is house-trained and crate trained. This sweet girl is looking for a forever home for the holidays.

Ciara is a sweet senior cat who needs a special adopter to help her manage her diabetes. Brooke Ciardi from Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center tells us about this beautiful gray and white long-haired kitty, and talks about all of the adoptable animals at the shelter. Currently MCASAC is waiving all adoption fees on all animals until further notice.

We're joined today by Lisa Stern, Adoption Counselor with K-9 Lifesavers. Bailey, a four-year-old mastiff mixed breed, is the 'Stray of the Day' on BIG 100. We learn about Bailey's story, and the great work the volunteers at K-9 Lifesavers are doing in DMV.

Lisa talks with Ray Gonzales, Executive Director for City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue, about a beautiful senior cat named Baby. Baby's human companion died, so she needs a new home, preferably a quiet one where she is the only pet. Gonzales also talks about the number of cats and dogs his rescue has adopted out - well over 11,000!

The 'Stray of the Day' in BIG 100's '12 Strays of Xmas' is a beautiful Husky mix named Indy. Dorothy Yen from Forever Changed Animal Rescue joins Lisa to tell us about Indy, and also more about Forever Changed, which was formed by three vets recently out of veterinary school.

The 'Stray of the Day' for Day 6 in the '12 Strays of Xmas' on BIG 100 is Phil from K-9 Lifesavers.Adoption counselor Lisa Stern introduces us to this adorable black lab mix. He's about 1 1/2 years old, is affectionate and loves to play! He's currently in training, and whoever adopts him will get a couple of free training sessions so Phil can continue his education.Find out more about this energetic pup, and help him find a forever home for the holidays.

Lisa chats with Ray Gonzales, Executive Director for City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue, based in Washington, D.C. One of the 300-400 animals currently in foster care with the rescue group is Applesauce, an adorable 16-month-old cat who has recently been cured of F.I.P. Gonzales explains what F.I.P. is, and how City Kitties is on the cutting edge in treating what was once considered a fatal disease.We also learn about what kind of home would be perfect for Applesauce, as well as the many ways listeners can get involved with City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue.

Walker is an adorable 4-year-old Coon Hound mixed breed dog from A Forever Home Rescue Foundation. Paul also reveals major health issues he's been battling, and how working on the new album has been therapeutic.They also discuss Sun Records, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, who he would most want to collaborate with, and the song inspired by his cat.
