Jackie's teeth Tony is a whistlin', parentfluencers are shillin' a 3 figure box that tells your kids a story without a screen (aka a RADIO), Chappell Roan is PREACHING 'bout havin' kids too young, and the newest Baldwin episode is literally just about a rug and not worth missing the opera for, so Jackie gives a 5 second (too long possibly) synopsis. 'The Studio' is great and filled with stars, and worth payin' for Apple TV, it's dropping weekly and there's 3 eps right now. Jackie recommends 'Midcentury Modern', a new sitcom on Hulu starring Nathan Lane that's essentially 'Golden Girls' with gay men. 'The Pitt' demands your full attention and your full tear ducts RIGHT. NOW. but 'Death of a Unicorn' DOES NOT. There's 4 Beatles movies bein' created by Sam Mendez that all intersect for a "bingeable" theatre experience, which leads to a possible sighting of a giant Liverpool lap lizard, a film based on Britney Spear's memoir 'The Woman Inside Me', and JoJo Siwa is pulling a Gene Simmons with a personal assistant VIP package, but at least her comes with a ticket to the show. Mike White of 'White Lotus' has kicked up a mess by going on terminal weirdo and transphobe Andrew Sullivan's podcast, 'Love on the Spectrum' Season 3 dropped and accidentally kept Jackie from sleepin', Cardi B's kid drew on her $60,000 bag BECAUSE CELEBS ARE JUST LIKE US! Rambo nearly ruined an impromtru Jackie's Snackies as his final act before he started checkin' Sundae the Black Lab's Instagram from the sky, Jackie goes over a list of April Fool's Day products, but sadly Snooki's fried pickle ice cream isn't one of them. Today's show opens with a recap of a huge news day on Sunday and the reverberations it made throughout the weekend. Needless to say, the biggest story is the one that popped the DNC's bubble one day after Kamala Harris's coronation. It was the announcement by RFK, Jr. that he was going to drop out of the battleground states and support Donald Trump. Later on Friday, RFK, Jr. then spoke at the Trump rally in Arizona and was met with thunderous applause. Let's be clear, these two are not blanket endorsing the other. But, on the issues of endless wars, censorship, lack of democratic ideals and keeping Americans sick, they are in total alignment and that was enough to bring them together. Naturally, this led the Left to wage an even bigger war against Robert Kennedy, Junior. The Left plays nasty and when challenged, can get even nastier. But, underneath it, they are in full panic. They know the margins in the battleground states is razor-thin (if the polling is to be believed) and a swing of 5% or 6% is huge in changing the outcome. Looks like the Left is going to need to print more ballots! The walking male member with eyebrows, Alejandro Mayorkas has decided, after only putting them in place for just over a month, to pull RFK, Jr.'s Secret Service team. Hell hath no fury like a temper-tantrum-throwing toddler. Today is also the three year anniversary of 13 service members being killed in the Biden-Harris regime's disastrous surrender and withdrawal from Afghanistan. While Joe stayed on vacation and Kamala ignored it, Donald Trump was at Arlington to place a wreath in their remembrance. No matter how the Left wants to gas-light, Afghanistan is owned in whole by Harris and Biden. As we wind down, reporters who just 5 years ago were appalled at Harris's policy of putting parents of truants in jail to then saying that never happened. They are willing to bald-face lie about the past in an effort to support their anointed queen. They need you to hate Donald Trump more than you want to see our problems fixed. Finally, we have another fake element to Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN). Today is National Dog Day. In light of that, we remind you he put out a post about his dog, Scout, on June 15, 2022. It's a great picture of a Black Lab mix. Then, just a few months later, on October 19, 2022, he shares another picture of Scout, only this time, it's a brown and white non-Lab mix. What an amazing dog to be able to change it's color and morph it's breed in the space of four months. Is there anything real about Tim Walz at all? "Her hips are beautiful and knees look great, but at her age one of the biggest risk is blowing out her ACL like aging athletes do," said veterinarian Dr. Bill Sullivan during Char Dawg's recent visit. She's only 6 years old. In today's highly informative conversation, we cover need-to-know, aging-retriever topics quicker than a hard-charging lab through sheet water. Topics include retriever aging, conditioning, expectations versus reality, avian influenza, dietary needs, training versus hunting, major threats to aging retriever health (some you'd never think of) and much, much more. Join host Mikkel and her coworker and bestie Natalie Gruchow as they discuss all things 'Petiquette,' which includes Natalie's advocacy for leashing dogs in order to increase physical and emotional safety for other dogs and people. Natalie discusses her top tips for advocating for your dog if you encounter an off leash dog, top safety tips if encountering an off leash dog when out walking your own, and how she personally walked through this journey with her own beloved and reactive dog, Sniff. Natalie Gruchow Bio: Natalie's love for animals began in childhood when her patient parents allowed all sorts of critters in the house, from salamanders to birds. To this day, she rescues earthworms from the pavement and releases the creepy crawlies from the house that belong outside. As an only child her dogs were the equivalent to her siblings, and she is now a forever dog mom.She is from Fargo, North Dakota and graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in psychology with minors in business administration and English writing. She fell in love with the veterinary industry when she was hired as the Human Resource Generalist at Animal Health Clinic in 2014. She was soon promoted to Practice Manager and obtained her Certified Veterinary Practice Manager credential. AHC began Fear Free practices in 2017, and she would lead her team to become the first Fear Free Certified Practice in the Dakotas in 2019. Since then, she has been on the Fear Free Speaker's Bureau with Elite certification and joined the Fear Free team full time in the fall of 2023.Natalie founded a nonprofit, Petiquette, which focuses on raising awareness about leash etiquette, and is adding Pet Loss Grief Support services. Her bearded dragon, Piney, is an education ambassador to demonstrate that pets don't need to be warm and fuzzy to need love. When she isn't working, she enjoys going on traveling adventures with her husband, Tim. Snorkeling with sharks, zip lining, charter fishing, and front row concerts are favorites. She also enjoys hiking and camping with their Champagne Lab, Bubbles, and Black Lab, Sally. Fun fact: Bubbles is Sally's biological grandpup.
EYE – the new band from Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard (MWWB) singer-songwriter/musician Jessica Ball – recently announced the arrival of their eagerly awaited debut album, 'Dark Light' set for release on 26th April via New Heavy Sounds (Shooting Daggers, MWWB, Blacklab). ‘Dark Light' is an intensely atmospheric fusion of emotionally charged songcraft and inspired sonic energy. The clue is in the album's paradoxical title. Chilling and even bleak melodies with arrangements daringly and deliberately stripped down and minimal. Revealing a kinship with sonic bed-fellows Mazzy Star, Chelsea Wolfe or even Portishead. Jessica details: These songs have been many years in the making... Some of these ideas were crafted before MWWB, this is something I've always wanted to do. Over the last couple of years, I've spent some time on finishing and crafting these ideas and pieces of music into songs. Some were snippets of lyrics from my early twenties which reflect on what seems like a different person. I think it's quite poetic how it's all come together now. I was also encouraged after finding musicians who understood the vision and style I was trying to achieve, and of course my experience of being in MWWB. I'm a guitarist above all, and I loved reconnecting with guitar again. It feels like all my influences and favourite styles have come together in this album. Shoegaze, doom, folk, dream pop... It's a real mix bag but as a whole, it represents many different stages of my life and tells a story. The album ultimately is quite introspective yet lyrically loose enough to be open to interpretation – I've always been a fan of songs that seem to perfectly slot into the situation I'm experiencing and not too specific to one person's experience... I think that comes across in this album. We spoke to Jessica about the album, about making her vision a reality, being able to actually enjoy a release, working with others in this capacity, growing as a musician and person, and so much more. How can having a 10-year, long-term goal help you make progress on what matters to you? The back half of the 1990s was deluged with more post-grunge bands that we can count, and cutting through the noise wasn't always easy. For bands like Black Lab, who aimed for both radio and something more interesting, that meant not reaching the chart-topping highs of bands like Our Lady Peace, Semisonic, or Live. Their 1997 debut You Body Above Me for Geffen is a prime example of making the most of the back-half album tracks, as vocalist Paul Durham takes some inventive detours with his vocals, bouncing between the emotive lead single "Wash It Away" and the more expressive attack of "All the Money in the World" or Bring It On." A cursory pass may leave the listener wondering what the fuss is about, but slap on the headphones and you'll hear some impressive choices from each instrument, playing off of and pushing each other for something more with a clear and full sound that impresses even today. I would like to thank everyone that has donated or otherwise supported Nature is my Jam by liking, following, sharing and/or subscribing to the podcast. Your support goes directly to creating future episodes and allows this podcast to be ad-free and 100% listener supported. Your kindness means the world to me and I hope you might feel inspired to explore the natural areas where you live.By most measures, 2022 was not kind. I still can't bring myself to talk about it, but my sidekick and constant companion, Bella (Boo Boo) lost her battle with cancer. If you were ever on a conference call with me, then you most definitely saw her sitting on my shoulder. She was a constant presence and I miss her dearly. She was tiny but mighty, never hesitating to yell at me if I wasn't paying enough attention to her. We also lost Scruffy, our adventure cat, a few months ago. As if that wasn't bad enough, our beloved Black Lab, Jasmine, also passed away at 12.Unexpectedly, I lost my job in February because of my position being eliminated. There isn't a need to go into detail, but that event caused a short-term panic and an opportunity to reflect on my 25 year career in information security and risk management. With the support of my wife, Rhonda, and hours of financial calculations, we made the decision that I would take a long break from my career and look for a new path forward. This podcast results from being given the opportunity to try something new without the stress of reinventing myself at another company. As we head into 2023, I want to devote this episode to my feelings of gratitude. I have compiled the best bits from each episode in 2022 to create a retrospective of sorts. It was a mix of fun and cringe as I went back to the beginning of this journey. My early recordings were not good, but had great intentions. I committed to a goal of improving every week and seeking help from other field recordists. I like to think that my recordings improved with each episode and I am happy that so many people helped me along the way. I start each morning by writing out three things I am grateful for in my journal. It always starts with Rhonda. Always. Simply, she is the reason I have this podcast and the latitude to pursue this fresh path. She has never doubted me and is always there to cheer me on. Her support means the world to me, and I will forever be grateful that she is in my life. The other two items vary each day, but there will never be a time where Rhonda isn't the very first name in the journal. I am also grateful to YOU. It means so much to me, giving up a few minutes of your time every week to listen to the podcast and share your thoughts. As I've said before, I started this podcast because I felt I had something to say but didn't know how to say it yet. Recording nature sounds gave me a voice that I desperately needed, and it was a giant leap into the abyss to publish that first episode. I didn't tell anyone about the podcast until the third episode and did not know what to expect. I could imagine people saying, “What gives? A podcast with no one talking? That's really weird, dude. Really weird.” And perhaps a podcast without talking is weird, but it clearly resonates with many people. I can't say thank you enough and while I have been saying this from the very beginning, it bears repeating. Thank you for listening. I would like to thank you for your encouragement. Thank you for your generosity. Most of all, thank you for your time. Time is precious and I don't take it for granted that you choose to spend some time with this podcast.Support the showThanks for listening! ❤️ Your support means the world to me. Pets are inspirational and offer divine inspiration and creativity. In this episode, Cathy talks with Labrador Retrievers, Sanchez the Yellow Lab (In Spirit), and Gina the Black Lab about how they inspired their person, Lisa Spector, to use her Juilliard degree to play classical music for pets to relieve their anxiety and stress. Cathy met Lisa 20 years ago when she brought her 4-month-old Guide Dog for the Blind puppy, Sanchez to one of my Animal Communication classes. Since then, Lisa has become a long-time client, student and friend. Sanchez and Gina are Guide Dogs for the Blind career change dogs, meaning they were not suitable to be a guide dogs. Instead, they became Lisa's dogs and her animal muses. Sanchez's anxiety led Lisa to discover that playing classical piano music at a slow pace calmed pet anxiety. With Sanchez as her inspiration, Lisa co-founded Through a Dog's Ear and was the pianist on the music series. Her music is backed by science and prescribed by veterinarians to help with separation anxiety, sound phobias, excessive barking, hyperactivity, and crate training. Her music is played in animal shelters worldwide, vet clinics and pet households. Gina is the Chief Zen Officer of MyZenPet.com where Lisa does a podcast and offers concerts for pets. You can also download or stream her album, Dog Gone Calm, Vol. 1.

While on summer vacation, I probably composed, in my mind, a dozen different soapboxes. Being away from the job makes me more creative and free-thinking; and even though I avoid the news like the plague during these times, my mind wanders to various subjects, ranging from the funny to the serious, the topical to the philosophical.I don't write these ideas down for a couple of reasons; first, I don't want to work and I'm afraid I won't stop myself at a couple of sentences and pretty soon…BAM! I'm writing soapboxes on vacation. Secondly, I've always figured that if the ideas are that good, they'll save in my memory or come up repeatedly until I actually execute them. It's just my process and it's served me well.Sunday morning before returning to work arrived, and I knew that a new Soapbox was on the top of my very long list of work-related items. While I had slowly climbed back into working a few days earlier, Sunday was going to be a long one. I did myself no favors by sleeping in almost later than any day during the past few weeks, getting me an anxious late start. For me, that's 8AM and about 3 lost hours of previously expected work. I rolled over and realized my wife wasn't next to me, which was somewhat of a relief as that meant she had gotten up and fed the dogs who are used to eating around 5 or 6 in the morning during vacation. Like any normal red-blooded American, the very next thing I did was grab my cell-phone to be met by a long text from my wife explaining that yes, the dogs had been fed, but she had endured a terrible night of not sleeping much, and was not feeling well (women issues I'm guessing) and so, she had laid down in the guestroom to get some more sleep. This immediately presented some interesting challenges. We have a 19-week-old puppy; Sarge, the Black Lab, who has simultaneously reminded us of both the joys and horrors of having a puppy in the house. With Sarge, and our 8-year-old other Lab, Scout, both having just eaten and pooped, my wife decided to let Sarge roam free, since she assumed I would be up soon after she sent her text to me, and with the dogs having just eaten, they'd just rest for a bit. Plus, the guest bed is too high for the dogs to safely jump on and off of, and kenneling Sarge presented the possibility of him whining, depending on his mood, thus ruining her chances of resting. Bear in mind, all of this was predicated on my usual sleep schedule and her knowing I would get up early to get to work. This text had been sent over an hour earlier.I leaped up, got dressed, and suddenly realized that Scout was at the foot of the bed, meaning he had gotten fed up with his puppy brother and escaped to his refuge since Sarge is incapable of climbing the staircase still. Whenever Scout has had enough play or is just annoyed at his little brother, he heads upstairs. This, I deduced, was all very bad because it meant that:A. Obviously, Sarge was downstairs alone and possibly bored andB. They had been playing and/or Sarge had done something Scout knew he wasn't supposed to do, and Scout had removed himself from the guilty area.I fully expected to come downstairs to any of the wonderful things we've experienced already, like a torn-up roll of paper towels, or any of my wife's various hair rubber bands that he has somehow found somewhere. As I turned the corner of our spiral staircase, Sarge heard me, emerged from the hallway, and began his puppy frenzy that occurs whenever a human is seen for the first time in a few hours. It's as though we're meeting again after years of being apart…every…single…time. As he did his Tasmanian Devil impersonation, I surveyed the rooms in my view and saw that all was seemingly calm and intact and in its rightful place. Sarge has matured very quickly and is very smart (he was housebroken almost immediately), and so, I thought (and hoped), maybe he had just laid down at the foot of the guest bed and rested, and maybe, just maybe, Scout took that cue to take his place at my feet.I turned the corner to the hallway, heading to my home office, and realized that its' door had been left open; this meant the puppy had access to anything inside, and even though we had just had the manor deep cleaned, the office is filled with puppy catnip. Bills, show prep papers, even recording equipment that has nice sharp edges perfect for a puppy with growing teeth to gnaw away at. As I entered, all was in order, for the most part. There was a slightly chewed-up envelope on the floor, which I grabbed and saw was a bill for my wife. This was odd because that means he got it from somewhere other than my office, and since Christina's office is upstairs and he can't get there yet, the origin of this was a mystery. No matter, I thought, if all he did was lie there and chew away at some harmless paper for a while, we're off to a good, albeit late, start to the day. Time for breakfast!I placed the torn up bill on the bar to show my wife when she awoke and strode to the kitchen, still seeing no evidence of any puppy-related shenanigans. Hearing the sound of food preparation, our portly sausage Scout emerged downstairs to make his way to the kitchen and commence begging but first had to endure the same “I haven't seen you in years” greeting from Sarge that I had experienced only moments ago. As they bounded around like drunken kangaroos, I was free to begin cooking. They spent the whole time playing in my view and allowing me free to cook and begin watching my usual battery of Sunday morning news programs to prepare for the week's shows. I began eating, standing at our kitchen counter as I did so, allowing me to see both the TV and the dogs and I noticed, as I looked over, both of the dogs were now stuffed into one kennel. From my view, it looked as though maybe Scout was puking, or just had, and Sarge was about to eat it. Wonderful, so much for my hope for a peaceful morning…and now I had to deal with dog vomit while trying to eat breakfast. I raced over to discover that there was no puke, but rather a fascination with something in the corner of the kennel. I shooed the dogs away and retrieved a pair of my wife's designer sunglasses (Gucci, if you must know). I inspected them, and they seemed undamaged, so they made their way to the bar for the looming “any idea how he got these items” discussion when she arose from her slumber. After eating, I set up to work in the living room so that I could keep an eye on the dogs (mainly Sarge) while working. Traditionally, when I take my seat on the sofa, both dogs just lay down and sleep. If my wife is present, and we're trying to enjoy a show together, it's chaos because God forbid we get to enjoy some of our very limited together time, but I digress. With hours of work to do, I needed them to chill, but, as the universe continued to work against me, Sarge initiated a play session with Scout. Fine, they'll tire each other out and then lay down.Until Scout abandoned me. Distracted by work, it wasn't until he was halfway up the stairs that I realized Scout had had enough of the puppy and was heading to his sanctuary. I got up to retrieve Sarge from wherever he was and there, in the middle of the entryway, he laid…chewing on a pen. An ink pen! He hadn't gotten far, but where in the hell had it come from? No matter, it was now on the bar for the “the talk,” and I commanded him into one of the two giant, oversized fluffy dog beds we have in the living room which are filled with various toys these spoiled dogs insist on removing from their toybox and hoarding in their beds. Fine, just chew on a toy and let me work!A few minutes later, I look over at Sarge chewing on the giant antler and think “awwww, this is what I love about…” wait a minute he's actually chewing on something behind the antler! I harrumph, get up, and retrieve from his mouth a sunglass pouch. I rip it away from him, put the antler in his mouth, stomp to the bar and sit back down to commence working. I look over, and Sarge has turned the opposite direction and is chewing on…another ink pen! Back up I get, grab the pen, and begin searching the puffy bed for other hidden items. I retrieve two other pens AND another pair of designer sunglasses (Prada, if you must know). Now I'm beyond frustrated at the start to my day, having gotten essentially nothing done and it's almost 9AM, and stumped as to what this pest got into and how and from where! Fine…I don't have time for this, and now that the bed has been properly searched and the human items seized, hopefully, he'll just sleep out of boredom or chew on an actual dog toy!Working commences. I'm on the sofa, tray table set up, laptop keys banging away, Sunday morning news on, the day has finally started. I'm answering emails, printing news stories, listening to toxic political discussions, and of course, taking the occasional pool shot on my cell phone via texting with Dawn's husband. And then I notice that Sarge has switched to the other oversized, pillowy bed filled with nooks and crannies…and he's chewing on something. Up I pop, (most likely at this point, cursing aloud), and I retrieve from his mouth…yet another pair of designer sunglasses (Louis Vuitton, if you must know). I move the little varmint and dig into the bed. In the end, between all of his various hiding and hoarding spots, he had accumulated a collection of an envelope with a bill in it, 4 ink pens, two sunglass pouches, a receipt, and 6 pairs of designer sunglasses (Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and 3 pair of Gucci, if you must know). Now, our bar was filled with confiscated items worth thousands of dollars, all seemingly undamaged (except for the pens, which if I had to choose, was quite happy he chose to go to town on them as opposed to the glasses), the puppy was sleeping (pouting), and I could resume working.About 30 minutes later, Christina woke up and I was finally in full work go-mode. We briefly talked, and she determined that our 19-week-old ninja had found his way over the top of the sofa to a table behind it which contained a box of hers which had the glasses (and some various office supplies for reason), and had helped himself, while also being wily enough to not only hide all of the items but spread out the hiding places to fool his witless humans. Knowing that she needed to wake up, I kissed her and said “I'm heading to my office to work,” she apologized for the start of my day, I lovingly told her to shut up because I was just glad she felt better, and I made my way to the office, leaving her to the menace in fur.Once in the refuge of my office, I was able to shift to writing and recording this week's soapbox. I sat straight up in my giant, obnoxious, super comfy office chair, opened my laptop, and realized…I had absolutely no god-damned ideas or inspirations to form into words. Oh, and I'm way behind on everything and don't have time to not be inspired. So, you got this instead, because quite literally, the dog almost ate my homework. He certainly chewed up a ton of my time (Eh? Eh?).Ironically, as I began writing this the little annoyance sauntered into my office and laid at my feet being the perfect dog. Until 5 minutes later when he made his way to my garbage can and pulled out a rubber band and began running away from me. I returned the irritant to his female human (who was trying herself to eat breakfast) and she advised me to close my office door, which I did and have been left in peace for the last hour to truly get this stupid thing done. And now, as I unpack from our trip to Las Vegas and I put away my five Rolex watches, I can finally reflect on my wife's designer sunglass obsession!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Ron Schara's story proves dreams do come true. In 1987, Ron, an outdoor beat writer for the Minneapolis Tribune, and newbie producer Doug Hajicek got together by coincidence. They came up with Ron Schara's Outdoor news on a napkin together. The star was a Black Lab named Kiela. Soon the name changed to NorthCountry This rebranded show ran for 7 years in 15 markets in the Midwest. It also had a spin-off show, Call of the Wild, in 1991. Again the same show just tweaked. Then in 1995, the show moved to a Local NBC affiliate Kare 11, and changed the name once again to focus on Minnesota stories... and Minnesota Bound was born… same show basically with tweaks and a new title. Hajicek knew 100 percent that Ron's love of outdoor storytelling could be turned into a television success story. One of the stars of the show Minnesota Bound was once again a black lab name Raven, a relative of the original black lab. All of it was inspired by news programs such as 20/20 and 60 minutes. The show is really about people. They just happen to love the outdoors. 1987-2022 - 35 years and still going strong.
Michelle is back from her vacay in Mexico and the twosome picked up right were they left off. David gets inspiration from his Black Lab, Daisy for today's episode on leadership. Michelle has a lot to say in support and they give the wheel a final spin, spotlighting a massive leadership blunder where not only did the CEO guide the ship in the wrong direction, but many of the employees willfully followed the lead and suffered as it drifted off course to peril. Michelle's homework is classic - very unique and inspiring. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/red-kite-movement/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/red-kite-movement/support

Today is a special day…this is a topic that is near and dear to our hearts. It is something that is part of our everyday life…and it is….COFFEE! Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the US and the world! In the US alone, 64% of adults consume coffee every day, averaging roughly 3 cups. This rounds out to about 400 million cups of coffee consumed per day and 146 billion cups per year across the US. Also interesting to note that 66% of women drink coffee every day, compared to only 62% of men. Of those that drink coffee, only about 30% take their cup straight black in the morning (aka no cream or sugar). As you can see, coffee is a very popular beverage to have in the mornings to help you wake up, or for some to sip on throughout the day. So, what's the hype about coffee? Is it good for us? Is it just a vessel for too many calories and too much sugar? What the hell do we order at Starbucks? Tune in to find out more! Here are some of our favorite SWMO local coffee shops: Architect, Classic Rock, Dancing Mule, Mug Shots, Black Lab, Coffee Ethic, Kingdom, Mudhouse, Travellers, Roots, Rove Coffee, Neighbors Mill, Flannel Cup Follow us on social media: Facebook - Achieving Your Best Instagram - aybspringfield
