We're back to discuss all the latest, greatest, and strangest in the rock world with Geekwire! Here's what we're chewing on this time: David Lee Roth performs Van Halen hits at the M3 Rock Festival. Reactions were mixed. We give ours. A behind-the-scenes book on This Is Spinal Tap and its sequel is set for release in September. We hope it's in Dubly. Rikki Rockett says Poison gets a strong offer for a 2026 headlining tour; but it's up to Bret Michaels. Will The Cat get Dragged In again in 2026? Wolfgang Van Halen explains why he dropped the "WVH" from Mammoth's name and we try to decipher what he's talking about. Kirk Hammett unboxes Metallica's remastered Load deluxe box set and enthusiastically celebrates it's artwork. A fan spends $12,495 to be Gene Simmons's roadie and shares the experience. Was it worth the dough? Henry Rollins discusses large-scale Punk Rock Museum project and we speculate on it's possible Nashville location. Dee Snider explains why he moved his family to rural North Carolina. Was it worth The Price? A dump truck crashes into the Whisky A Go Go ahead of a Boy Hits Car concert. We really do live in a simulation, eh? George Lynch launches a new band, George Lynch & The Mob, with a rotating lineup. Basically, Lynch Mob. Motörhead's previously unreleased 1976 album The Manticore Tapes gets a release. We share our excitement. A rumor circulates that Led Zeppelin plans a new album and 2026 tour. But, is it even true? Additionally, we touch on listener-submitted topics including Sammy Hagar (yes, again), new releases from LA Guns and Faster Pussycat, Steve Perry collaborating with Willie Nelson, Sleep Token, the live return of Savatage, an upcoming Stryper Christmas album and more. In this episode, we welcome legendary guitarists Al Pitrelli and Chris Caffery of Savatage, the iconic progressive metal band known for their theatrical storytelling and technical prowess. With roots dating back to the late 1970s, Savatage gained fame through albums like Hall of the Mountain King, Gutter Ballet, and Edge of Thorns, blending heavy metal with symphonic elements. After years of relative silence, the band is stirring once again, and fans are eager to hear what's next.Al and Chris provide exclusive updates on Savatage's 2025 plans, including potential new music and a long-awaited tour. The band last performed live at Wacken Open Air in 2015, leaving fans wondering if they would ever return to the stage. Now, there's renewed hope as the duo discusses what's in store for the band and how their creative energy is flowing again. Beyond Savatage, both musicians remain deeply involved with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO), the massively successful rock-opera project that evolved from Savatage's legacy. Al Pitrelli, as TSO's music director and lead guitarist, shares insights into the upcoming TSO tour and what fans can expect from their powerhouse holiday performances. Chris Caffery, a longtime TSO guitarist, also reflects on his dual role in both bands and how their music continues to inspire generations.Listeners will also hear personal stories from Al and Chris about their creative process, and how their experiences with Savatage and TSO intertwine. With so much mystery surrounding Savatage's future, this episode sheds light on what's next while celebrating the band's incredible legacy.Don't miss this must-hear conversation for fans of progressive metal, hard rock, and symphonic storytelling. This week on America's Podcast, we dive into the stormy seas of Savatage's The Wake of Magellan—and let's just say, the ship isn't exactly steady. One cohost faces mutiny as the others unleash their hot takes in a two-against-one battle royale. Things get salty, shade gets thrown, and at least one person forgets the golden rule of podcasting: always pick a track! Spoiler alert: feelings are hurt, egos are bruised, and the laughs get mean. #FriendshipGoals Tracks of the Week: Marc: “Della Brown” by Queensrÿche – Bringing smooth prog energy to a spicy episode. Mooger: “The Godless Endeavor” by Nevermore – Because nothing screams "friendly debate" like godlessness. Jerry: “Draw The Line” by Aerosmith – Ironically, someone definitely crosses it this week. Chris: “Why You Lie” by Through Fire – A question for the ages (and for certain cohosts). Until next week, remember: love what you love—even if your friends call it trash. #PodcastDrama #SavatageShowdown #ListenUpOrShutUp

Meet Captain Content in the pit this week for a hella good time! We're getting our aggression by revisiting the starting point of Kevin's music fandom. The thrash, crossover, and speed metal movement of the 80s spawned his love of all things rock n' punk n' metal. Once again, we will not be covering the Big 4 of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax; but if you love them, then you will love this bunch. What is it that we do here at InObscuria? We exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode, we explore all things mosh-worthy! This is real metal people. All hail the speed and ferocity of Thrash! Our hope is that we turn you on to something new.Songs this week include:Heathen – “Pray For Death” from Breaking The Silence(1987)Xentrix – “The Human Condition” from For Whose Advantage? (1990)Hazzerd – “Sanctuary For The Mad” from Delirium (2020)Tankard – “Beermuda” from The Meaning Of Life (1990)King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – “Self-Immolate” from Infest The Rats' Nest (2019)Hirax – “Swords Of Steel” from The New Age Of Terror (2004)Sanctuary – “The Third War” from Refuge Denied (1987)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/
Although they formed in Ventura, California in the early 70's just a few short years after Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, CIRITH UNGOL (which, if you know anything about J.R.R. Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings lore, translates to mean “Spider's Cleft”) sound like a band “out of time”. Whether they're releasing 70's sounding albums in the 80's or releasing 80's sounding albums in the 90's, it should be noted that CIRITH UNGOL are one of the first ever doom metal bands, with a sound containing a unique blend of both doom and power metal elements, as well as hints of classic Priest & Sabbath. Discover the real difference between “LPs and EPs” and try to comprehend why EPs are actually “shorter” even though they sound like they'd be “longer”. Understand the reason “you've got to get your vasectomies early (and often)” and just know that “you're not gonna make it better” talking about “roast beef sandwiches” unless you “pull out a pack of Arby's sauce” and JOIN US as we go INSIDE THE METAL with the decade defying, anachronistic anomaly of doom and power metal that could only be known as CIRITH UNGOL.
