Firstly, they discuss the latest developments in the Russia - Ukraine conflict where Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, announced what he calls a 'military operation' in Ukraine after receiving no guarantee of NATO expansion into Ukraine in December. Videos on social media depict signs of invasion from Russia into Ukraine and it was also reported that Belarus are assisting Russia in the invasion. Macron, President of France, and Zelensky, Presidnet of Ukraine, have described Putin's actions as 'acts of war'. Subsequent to the Ukraine invasion, Biden laid sanctions on Russia. Latest developments show that Ukraine and Russia are beginning talks in Belarus in an attempt to negotiate a ceasefire. Secondly, the squad discuss the untimely passing of, multi-award wining rapper, Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado who is know professionally as Ricky Rick. Notable figures from the South African music industry gave sent their condolences via social media. It is important to note that Makhado's death is yet to be confirmed. Thirdly, the squad discusses, Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau's invoking and revoking of the Emergencies act which involved freezing the bank accounts of those who involved in the Freedom Convoy. Lastly, the squad discuss the Budget speech of 2022 where Enoch Godongwana, South Africa's Minister of Finance, delivered a speech in which which he announced, among other things, increases income tax for the South African middle class and wealthy, sugar tax increases, and increases in tobacco and alcohol tax.
