"Into the Trump Twitter-Verse: I Spent a Month as One of Trump’s Digital Soldiers and Here’s What I Learned.” In my article, I recount my experiences during the month I spent operating a conservative Twitter account and learning everything I could about the “Trump Twitter-Verse.” Over the course of a long-form piece, I discuss the differences between the liberal majority and the conservative minority that make up the 250 million-user platform. I highlight how conservative Twitter surfaces topics that are central to the conservative political world, including the Right’s need to monopolize “patriotism,” and the widespread sense of distrust which is exemplified by the concept of “fake news” and the “don’t-trust-the-media” mindset. During my month undercover on conservative Twitter, I noted that confirmation bias plays a significant role in conservative Twitter, with partisan push polls being retweeted by the President himself. A central point of my article is the need for community in conservative Twitter which is at least in part due to perceptions of persecution by the Left. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nextgenpod/support
