You wanted more so we delivered. Whilst the Welsh carninval has left town, a fresh opponent arrives on our shores in the form of Georgia. They are next up on the Wallabies' schedule in what will be their first test in Australia since the 2003 Rugby World Cup. In a quirk of fate, their director of rugby, Rama Chand is well-known in Australian rugby circles, having worked across a number of roles at the Queensland Reds before uprooting his young family to Tbilisi. Rama tells us all about the various competition structures they are involved in, the hopes at club and national team level and does some mythbusting on the Georgian's love of the scrum. In today's episode, 1991 RWC winning backrower Simon Poidevin joins the show to talk about his view of the Welsh rivalry prior to the World Cup era, the game's transition into the professional era and it's future through the eyes of his son who plays professionally in the United States. Poido's post-playing career has been even more remarkable, not only being in the in the broadcast booth for Channel 7 in the Wallabies' other RWC final victory (in 1999) but also leaving a significant impression on the Australian corporate sector, a rarity for a high profile athlete. After that chat, we check in quickly with RCV president John Anderson about the phenomenal response to this series, but also to demystify the organisation somewhat and learn more about its goals going forward. Our first guest is Ewen McKenzie, who boasts the rare distinction of being both Victorian-educated and a Wallabies world cup winner. In the first part of this interview, Korean-born, American-raised Tokyo Olympian Andre Jin Coquillard tells his incredible story. May 15 saw the first ever clash between two fully professional rugby sides both representing the Pacific Islands. To toast this occasion, Fijian broadcaster Lailanie Burnes joins the show to review the match and tell us how she's seen the Drua's debut season, on and off the field.
