On this episode of the Zevon Chronicles, I discuss Warren's 1980 release, "Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School." This was a quite tumultuous time in Zevon's personal life as he was in and out of rehab and his marriage came to an end all while he was trying to record an album to follow "Exitable Boy" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_Luck_Streak_in_Dancing_School One of the things I enjoy about doing this series is that although I'm already a huge fan of Warren Zevon, I learn many things in the process of putting these together. Zevon co-produced this album with Greg Ladanyi. Due to a mild attack of dyslexia, I mispronounced his name in this video, but Ladanyi was a successful producer, working with Jackson Browne, Don Henley and more in addition to Zevon. Ladanyi won a Grammy in 1983 for "Best Engineered Recording - Non-Classical" for his work on Toto IV, by Toto. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Ladanyi Purchase this album on Vinyl: https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/1415840?ev=rb Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/recordnightpodcast/ E-mail: recordnightpodcast@gmail.com

In this episode of the Record Night Podcast, we review a failed episode from the week previous. Jake's offering for Joe and Collin to listen to was "TRYPNOTYX" a jazz album by Victor Wooten, Dennis Chambers and Bob Franceschini. For the first time in the history of Record Night, we did not complete the album as Joe and Collin found the music too unpleasant/anxiety inducing to continue with sides C and D of the double LP. After watching a clip of the debacle, we attempt to do a post-mortem and discuss why Jazz is so polarizing, and the possibility of giving Jazz another try in the future. Introducing "The Zevon Chronicles." In this series, I'll dive into Warren Zevon's records, reviewing the album and providing context to how the record came to be. In this episode, I take a look at arguably Zevon's best record and certainly his most successful from a commercial perspective, "Excitable Boy" (1978). This album features, "Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner," Excitable Boy," "Lawyers, Guns and Money," and the lone top 40 hit of Zevon's career, "Werewolves Of London."
