I was staff at the NME when ‘Daddys Gone', the impossibly brilliant, desperately emotive single by Glasvegas landed on our desks. And I was staff when the group's self-titled debut album followed. These were times when I - and I was far from alone in thinking this - thought that the Glasgow band were not only the best band on the planet, but would perhaps be the most important band for the following decade and maybe beyond. But hey, those were crazy times, we're all a lot older now, and a lot has happened between now and then. Because the career of Glasvegas didn't quite pan out that way. My career didn't go anywhere like how I expected too. And so now it's 2023 and me and singer James Allen are speaking via Zoom, and we're attempting to fill in the blanks between when we met last and where we are now... 00h 00’00” Presentación 00h 02’02” Cabecera 00h 02’38” A LITTLE PRINCESS – Kindle my heart 00h 05’29” A LITTLE PRINCESS – A little raga 00h 07’30” BRIDGET JONES DIARY – It’s only a diary 00h 11’48” CALENDAR GIRLS – Photographers 00h 12’55” CALENDAR GIRLS – Tai chi 00h 14’26” CARLITO’S WAY – Main theme 00h 19’37” CARLITO’S WAY – Grand Central 00h 29’43” CINDERELLA – A golden childhood 00h 33’32” CINDERELLA – Vals de l’amour 00h 36’01” DEAD AGAIN – Main theme 00h 39’00” DEAD AGAIN – The woman with no name 00h 42’27” DONNIE BRASCO – Donnie and Lefty 00h 46’49” DONNIE BRASCO – Lonely man 00h 48’36” ERAGON – Once in every lifetime 00h 52’48” ERAGON – Passing the flame 00h 55’47” FRANKENSTEIN – To think of a story 00h 59’13” FRANKENSTEIN – Please wait 01h 02’29” FRANKENSTEIN – The wedding night 01h 04’31” GOSFORD PARK – Main theme 01h 06’47” GOSFORD PARK – Only for a while 01h 10’00” GREAT EXPECTATIONS – Finn 01h 12’49” GREAT EXPECTATIONS – A walk in the park 01h 14’09” GREAT EXPECTATIONS – Kissing the rain 01h 17’09” HARRY POTTER & THE GOBLET OF FIRE – Harry in winter 01h 19’58” HARRY POTTER & THE GOBLET OF FIRE – Potter waltz 01h 22’11” HARRY POTTER & THE GOBLET OF FIRE – Underwater secrets 01h 24’34” INDOCHINE – Generique 01h 28’55” INDOCHINE – La fin du voyage 01h 34’05” INDOCHINE – Tango 01h 37’42” INTO THE WEST – Mary’s grave 01h 39’45” INTO THE WEST – The blue sea and the white horse 01h 43’18” KILLING ME SOFTLY – Alice and Jake 01h 44’52” KILLING ME SOFTLY – End titles 01h 47’38” LOVE’S LABOUR LOST – Cheek to cheek 01h 50’24” LOVE’S LABOUR LOST – I get a kick out of you 01h 53’00” LOVE’S LABOUR LOST – Let’s face the music and dance 01h 55’20” LOVE’S LABOUR LOST – The way you look tonight 01h 58’37” LOVE’S LABOUR LOST – Arrival of the princess 02h 01’48” MRS.
We're back baby! The boys are back at the virtual back bar for another season of guests stories and banter. To kick it off we've got a bit of hollywood glitz and glamour to the show with Hamilton's own movie star and producer, Mr Gianni Capaldi. This is quite the insight into life in showbiz, where he hear about the Celtic supporting Scots contingent in Hollywood, doing movies with Bruce Willis, Frank Grillo and Kevin Dillon (VICTORY!!), and also how he ended up having ex-Chelsea player Mario Melchiot as one of his best men! The heroes and zeros rivalry is reignited, and some members of the crew are already being accused of playing a tactical game with this, but listen in to see if you agree with Gianni's winners this week. You'll hear if Gianni can kick off the season with a 10/10 performance in the speed round?! Only one guest so far has failed, so some pressure riding on this! As always, be a friend and tell a friend, like, share, rate, review, subscribe and anything else you think will help spread the word of The Back Bar! Have a great one! TBBP x

In part 2 of the Productionwise dive into the work of Rich Costey, we really find his signature sound. His work with Biffy Clyro, Of Monsters and Men, Interpol and Glasvegas gives him colossal spaces to fill, while collaborations with Franz Ferdinand and At the Drive-In pick up the pace. And is that 2000s mtv-core revival on the horizon? In this episode, James and Graham talk sincerity in music, matching the right production to the right album, and allegations.
Paul and Andy are joined by Ponferradina super fan Chris Pidgeon, James and Rab from Glasvegas and squad number nine Martin Kelner. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

'My 00s No1 Album' is back - and our series of bonus podcasts returns with Rab Allan from Glasvegas naming his favourite album of the era. He explains why Standing on the Shoulder of Giants by Oasis was his standout album from the decade - it was a surprise shout but we reckon he argues the case well! Plus, it's worth tuning in to hear about Glasvegas' reggae version of Be Here Now, which heavyweight boxer Liam Gallagher reminds Rab of, and his verdict on a potential Oasis reunion at some point in the future! (As a man who has toured with the band in the past he has an interesting take on the situation...) Remember you can check out our full episode with Rab about Glasvegas in our library, too. Pura casualidad. Escuchar audio
I’m delighted to be joined by Rab Allan, lead guitar player of the incredible Glasvegas for our first episode since August of last year. For anyone who is not familiar with Glasvegas, they shot to fame in 2008 with the release of their Mercury Prize-Nominated eponymous debut album that went to number 2 in the UK Albums chart and became a platinum selling album. Glasvegas followed that up with 'EUPHORIC // HEARTBREAK ' in 2011 and 'When The TV Turns to Static...' in 2013. After a 7 year absence, they return on the 2nd of April 2021 with their brand new album Godspeed. Rab candidly discusses a number of topics, including family dynamics, the city of Glasgow seeping in to the band's music, authenticity and social issues, touring in Sweden and seeing an ABBA member in a hotel, the emotional drain arising from extensive touring and hedonism, Scotland's money mentality, his favourite Scottish artists, Oasis, and of course, the return of Glasvegas and 'Godspeed.'
From the East End of Glasgow to Ecuador, we talk all things Glasvegas with guitarist Rab Allen. Some incredible stories from the road plus a whole lot more. Celtic Soul Podcast Episode 57 with More than 90 Minutes, Editor Andrew Milne chatting to Peter HootonPeter Hooton, is a singer, songwriter and the front man of Liverpool band The Farm, he was a pioneer in what would become football fanzines when he started The End Fanzine back in the early eighties. He is a committee member of the Liverpool fans pressure group Spirit of Shankly and just to keep busy over the years he has written a couple of books and put out a documentary on the Casuals. The second half of the conversation kicks off with Andrew and Peter chatting about the importance of supporters pressure groups such as the Celtic Trust and the Spirit of Shankly as we wait for European Super League and the influence of Billionaire owners. The Spirit of Shankly were inspired by the Green Brigade to support local foodbanks and Peter and the group have also been up to Celtic to check out the Standing Section in Celtic Park. The second part of the chat floats between music, football and life and Peter explains how the sound the band created for the Spartacus album caught on and how football and music mixed to create the sound of The Farm and the image they created from terrace fashion and the influence it would have on the bands that followed them. Peter chats about the friendly rivalry with the Happy Mondays and their hilarious Trip to Tipp, festival in Ireland and a session after the sound check and the shenanigans that followed before, during and after the gig. Having followed Liverpool around England and Europe all his life, Peter stopped going into Anfield after Greame Souness gave an interview to The Sun on the anniversary of Hillsborough.Peter also touches on how some Liverpool fans were unhappy with Souness joining Rangers and are unhappy that Steven Gerard took the manager's job at Ibrox.Hillsborough is discussed and the Celtic v Liverpool game that followed and listeners can hear the pain in Peter's voice as he remembers that day and what followed that traumatic experience.Peter also turned out for Celtic alongside Jimmy Johnstone against Liverpool in a charity game before Ian Rush's testimonial and he recalls how Jimmy wouldn't pass the ball to him and Alan Hansen wouldn't let him go by him but he did get to perform with The Farm at half time and he also speaks about returning to Glasgow to play on the Justice Tour with Mick Jones and Glasvegas. Gerry Conlon and Paddy Hill were at the gig that night and they know a thing or two about Justice!Peter jumps in the Celtic Soul Podcast Time Machine and travels back to a Liverpool game in Europe v St. Etienne and into the Kop where he still stands to watch his team. The story behind the song “All Together Now” is brought to life and Peter gives his opinion on the soldiers of World War 1 and the Poppy Fascism that has followed. Throughout the conversation Peter was open and honest.Play Out Song, Groovy Train performed by The FarmFollow Peter on Twitter @TheFarm/PeterHootonEpisode Sponsors More than 90 Minutes More than 90 Minutes Issue 113 Print Edition is now Sold Out but you can still download the digital edition. Samtalet i ”skivcirkeln” behandlar Nicole Sabounés debutalbum ”Must Exist” från 2014. Paul is currently a playback technician for Lewis Capaldi and has toured all over the world with some very well known acts, including Mø and Glasvegas, in a variety of roles. He talks about his experiences on the road with the artists he’s worked with, and we discuss how the music industry has had to evolve in line with society, with streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music having a monumental impact on how everything now operates. We chat about finding your way in life, doing what you enjoy and saying yes to opportunity - there’s a wee bit of everything, and Paul gives an interesting insight into the process musicians go through; there’s far more to it than just turning up and singing.Support Blethered on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/join/BletheredContact: seanmcdonald.podcast@gmail.comTwitter: https://twitter.com/seanmcdonald01 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Programledare: Pernilla Kommes
Messrs. Yapp and Davies return to dissect the issues that matter. This week: The 2009 Brits in 90 Seconds, Derren Brown and Paul McKenna have a face-off, popular beat combo Glasvegas lose their reverb, and Frank Sinatra gets all cut up. E-mail them, why don't you? It'll stop the pair of them arguing about the show's billing.
After a five month hiatus, Couch Surfing returns to the Sofa Dogs podcast! Nick Jimenez joins the celebration for a jam packed episode, filled with over two hours of content.00:07:00 - Nick recommends The Goods as at least a solid rental comedy, but he loved Funny People to bits.00:20:35 - John sings the praises of the short-lived series, The Middleman.00:22:34 - There's also warm nostalgia for Parker Lewis Can't Lose.00:29:48 - John enjoyed The Guild's music video, "Do You Wanna Date My Avatar?", NIck, not so much.00:32:48 - Hot Tub Time Machine sounds like a potentially wacky love letter to the 80s'. We are so there. This leads into a discussion of the Internet Movie Database and the Top Ten Films of The Decade.00:45:02 - Catching up on ancient emails, Hayden has a theory about Geek By Night. John and Nick try their best to clarify some things.00:53:03 - Nick advises towards patience on the internet, while lamenting how podcasting can sometimes feel like work.01:12:32 - Marshal has finished the Dead Like Me franchise and loved it, but did not care for the film.01:19:32 - John is still occasionally giving Alias a chance, having watched a handful of episodes from season 3. It didn't go over well but the episode, "Conscious" was amazing.NOTE: Feel free to stop the podcast here, as there's much internet drama ahead. It's understandable to tune out at this point.01:23:42 - The last email of the episode first requires some back story, concerning Geekshow.us and the death of John Hughes.01:27:14 - Kristen Stewart or Kat Dennings? Do you care?01:38:59 - It's apparently not common knowledge that Drag Me To Hell made a nice chunk of change. Some are even in denial about such news.01:47:54 - John weighs the pros and cons of big, sensational summer blockbusters, like Transformers 2.01:57:40 - John has hate mail. Confusion sets in as he tries to understand the minds of those who write such bile.02:09:02 - Nick closes things out with some positive recommendations of his favorite podcasts. The following artists can be heard in this episode:Telefon Tel Aviv & Danny DeVito, Metric, Staind, Taxi Doll, Flo Rida & Katy Perry, Eminem, The Submarines, The Martinis, MC Lars, Joe Strummer, Stars, 12 Rounds, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Glasvegas, Beck, Charles Ives, Groove Armada, Owen Pallett, Peace Orchestra, Gary Chang, Young MC, Army Navy, Hugh Harris, Tears For Fears, INXS, Radiohead, Phil Collins, Splashdown, Beirut and Dianogah.
