Sarah is an amazing woman of God. Not only is her story powerful, but she is extremely humble and kind. In this episode, Sarah answers some common questions that you may have about the Christian persecution in China. Some of the questions Sarah answers are, Why are people hostile to Christians in China?, How do non-Christians (not in power) in China view the persecution of Christians?, How many people are coming to the Lord through the persecution of Christians?, and What was your reaction of coming to America?. Sarah’s Story This is a short documentary on Sarah Liu’s story and the persecution in China. Sarah’s Trail of Blood by Voice of the Martyrs. If you can’t see this video in your RSS reader or email, then click here. 3 ways Sarah recommends to support the persecuted Church Pray for the persecuted Christians around the world. Many people undermine prayer because they just don’t do it. We say that we believe in the power of prayer, but it is easy to forget to actually pray. I’m guilty myself, but Sarah encouraged us in the episode to pray for the persecuted Christians around the world. We as Christian leaders need to understand that prayer is the most effective thing to do for the persecuted Church. Use your God given gifts to help. I love the different parts of the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12) because we all have unique relationships, skills, resources, and gifts that allow us to help serve others, especially persecuted Christians in suppressed countries. God has given you a unique opportunity to serve the Church, so use your gifts for his Glory. Bring awareness to your church. Now that you know about the persecution that goes on in many countries, including China, you can share this with your circle of influence to spread awareness of the injustice. Voice of the Martyrs has many excellent resources to share with the people in your church. Many times bringing to light issues of social injustice starts with a passionate spokesperson. Scriptures Mentioned “Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”” (Matthew 16:24–28, ESV) “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2–4, ESV) Subscribe to the Podcast Subscribe in iTunes Link to Stitcher Share What You Like If you enjoyed the show, please rate it on iTunes and write a brief review. For more info about me, check out my About Page. Why Renewing Our City You may be asking why I called a show, Renewing Our City, since it is about missions, leadership, and service. In short, Renewing – Jesus renews all things. Jesus transforms our sinful hearts, and makes them new, changes, clean. He takes something that is broke and doesn’t just put duck tape on it, but he fully renews our lives. Our – When we are reaching out to others with the awesome news of Jesus, people can be very sceptical or resistant. We as followers of Jesus need to take ownership in everything we do because it will give us a long term, investing mentality. People will notice that we care about God’s creation and genuenly care about people. City – I don’t live in a major city, but this concept can be applied to any neighborhood or city you live in, as long as people are there. Plus, since of the rise of modern transportation, the internet, and now social media, we can connect with our world like it is one Global city. We can engage with missionaries all around the world, and learn from the Global Church. Your goal should be to share Jesus and serve others wherever you are! #RenewingOurCityClick To Tweet Explore Additional Resources Managua, Nicaragua with the ministry Castillo del Rey ‘Kings Castle Ministries’ Grand Guave Haiti with the ministry Lifeline Christian Mission Ed Stetzer Bill Clem John Piper Tim Keller sermon on cities Mark Driscoll Acts 29 Network Assembly of God World Missions Evangel University Subscribe to the Podcast Link to itunes Link to Stitcher Share What You Like If you enjoyed the show, please rate it on iTunes and write a brief review.
