The gang is back again! It's the first episode of the month of Love, and we sure are starting off with a bang. This week, we come in (2:52) with Will Smith and Big Sean's new record "Beautiful Scars" leading us into the hate mail (10:55) Danny got again during the week for his agenda against Igbo women. LOL! After the controversy, Naomie poses two questions of the week (39:08) on taking a job that requires us to quit the show, and in what world could accept our moms finding love again outside our dads if something unfortunate happened. Then on Nana's Corner (57:47), we discuss the LA fires, the recent Washington plane crash, Trump coming in hot since resuming office, The Oscars 2025 nominations, Akademics getting banned off Twitch after sexual harassment of a 15-year-old boy, A$AP Rocky and his latest trials, and the Tuface (1:29:41) and Annie saga + MORE! In the main portion (1:50:07) of the show, we discuss the conversation tagged "Consideration versus People Pleasing" and we carefully dissect both concepts as they relate to our relationships, friendships, and families. We discuss moments when we have had to people please to get people's approval and Danny disagrees with the idea of people pleasing as he believes it's never too much to come through for his people. Then we discuss the power that consideration holds in a romantic relationship and why it is an expectation, especially for men from society. We also talk about pleasing in the bedroom (3:10:02) in relationships as well. Then we wrap up this amazing conversation with new music and movie recommendations + MORE! Blackie and the Rodeo Kings are one of the most interesting bands working anywhere today. Sometimes they're in a recording studio time warp with more songs to choose from than Gabriel. Followed by tours and festivals everywhere. Then they disappear The punch line to the tale is, the Blackie guys have their own lives, careers and fan bases. What's most remarkable is, after more than 25 years, they are still a band and friends.   For Example:   Stephen Fearing is releasing his next album on March 13 - The Empathist.  Wildly outstanding music. (We'll be talking again.) Stephen starts his Canadian tour at The Carleton Room in Halifax with two sold-out nights Feb 4-5. Kicks off album release March 13 at Mary Winspear in Sidney, Vancouver Island. Alberta dates March 21 Festival Place Sherwood Park, March 22 River Park Church Calgary.   Colin Linden Colin continues to produce artists at his Pinhead Recorders in Nashville. He's also been touring with T Bone Burnett. He co-wrote and co-produced T Bone's latest album The Other Side.  Next week Colin starts a new album, just in time to hit the road again. Colin begins his own tour - The Ride on Tour - on April 23, hitting Calgary on June 1 and Canmore on June 3. Tom and Terry   Tom Wilson I'll just give you the short version. Re-recording songs,  with son Thompson, from his play Beautiful Scars.  Writing and recording soundtrack music for a number of projects including a film by Tanya Tagaq. Between his flourishing artwork, writing a new book, and starting a new album, Tom also enjoys the glow of an Order of Canada induction.  That's the short version.   Blackie - The Band.   Plans are underway for dates in Canada. Winnipeg Folk Festival, Mariposa Folk Festival, Belmont Festival Edmonton (June 20) They are planning shows in Hamilton, Toronto where cameras will be filming. More events to come.

Podcast Music Intro and Vocals by: Gail NoblesPhoto: Angela GeorgeUsage: CC BY-SA 3.0Mary Clayton is a soul and Gospel singer she worked with many major recording artist for decades including a duet with Mick Jagger on the Rolling Stones song "Gimme Shelter". Clayton is prominently featured in 20 Feet from Stardom, the Oscar-winning documentary about background singers and their contributions to the music industry.Clayton was born in Gert Town, New Orleans, Louisiana. She was born on Christmas Day, and was given the name "Merry" because of the December 25th birthdate. Clayton's voice as a backing singer can be heard on songs by Pearl Bailey, Tom Jones, Linda Ronstadt, and Carole King just to name a few. Clayton is often credited as having recorded with Elvis Presley.Clayton began her recording career in 1962, at the age of 14.  She made studio albums in the 70s Give Me Shelter 1970, 1971 Mary Clayton, 1975 Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow, 1979 Emotion, 1994 Miracles, and in 2021 Beautiful Scars. Beautiful Scars is a beautiful album. On June 16, 2014, Clayton was critically injured and almost died after being involved in a car crash in Los Angeles, California. She had to loose both her legs at the knees. When I hear her singing on her album, I can understand her soulful voice and words to her songs. My favorite gospel single on the gospel album is Beautiful Scars is Touch the Hymn of his Garment. Like Sam Cooke, she can really sing that song. I'm sure she can relate to the woman in the Bible days because a miracle happened for Mary Clayton. God kept her and f God is good. His mercy is as wide as the sea and his love is deeper than the ocean. You're listening to a show about the gospel greats. I'm your host, Gail Nobles. Today's topic: Merry Clayton.

The chapter is titled, “Beautiful Scars.” Steph's journey has not been easy and writing and sharing her story brought its own challenges. In the end, the effort was worth it because so much beauty grew out of the process and the final product. His song writing has seen his works recorded by and with artists such as: Sarah McLachlan, Jason Isbell, Colin James, Lucinda Williams, Mavis Staples as well as his own bands Lee Harvey Osmond, Junkhouse, and Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. Today we talk about creativity, specifically around a new show called “Amplify.” Each episode features a different Indigenous artist, and in his episode, Tom Wilson crafts a powerful song based on a famous painting by Métis artist Christi Belcourt. In conversation at a diner, the two remarkable artists explore their creative processes and sources of inspiration. Find the show on APTN or streaming on APTN lumi. Then, I welcome Uzma Jalaluddin and Marissa Stapley, both internationally best-selling authors, and now, bestselling co-authors of the new romantic comedy novel “Three Holidays and a Wedding.” The story takes place in the year 2000 when Hannukah, Christmas and Ramadan all overlap. It follows two strangers who meet on a plane headed to Toronto but due to the weather end up in a charming small town with all the holiday spirit. Alternating between the perspectives of Maryam and Anna, you get a story about different cultures coming together, unlikely friendships and two separate love stories.

But our Father God keeps on waiting for us. And receives us with a smile.

Maximillian on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 11am PST 9/28/22 About Maximillian - Copenhagen act Maximillian announced himself to the international stage with mega-hit Beautiful Scars, and followed up with Ripples and Still Alive.  At just 22, he has demonstrated a songwriting style that pulsates honesty, vulnerability, and purpose beyond his youth. Maximillian has earned himself a devoted fanbase with Hollow Days - Acoustic, On My Mind and Heard - draft propelling successes in Europe, the USA and chiefly - South East Asia. A diamond in the rough, Maximillian's music reflects a troubled upbringing that could easily have curbed his evident rise. At a young age he found himself trapped at the edge of the law in a criminal cycle - from which he was desperate to escape. An epiphany that came over the then 13-year-old Maximillian at a Pink Floyd concert, changed his life forever.  Overwhelmed by sorrow and shame, the concert reminded Maximillian of his passion for music, and thus he confessed his circumstances to his parents and set course to prove he belonged on the stage. From this moment he has been searching for his own voice in life and music. Finding inspiration in artists like James Blake, Frank Ocean and Justin Bieber, Maximillian draws on personal experiences of struggle and heart-break to inform his intimate and inventive pop sound, whilst his velvet-like voice lingers in the memory of his loyal listeners. Max is sure to set global airwaves alight as he continues to write and release new music in 2021 and beyond.       About The DJ Sessions - “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ's/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience. Tanya Sieber is a mother of two, an entrepreneur, and a vessel through which music is manifested and shared. She has sailed many musical seas, including being baptized by Pink Floyd's The Wall at age eight, playing bass guitar in a band in her college years, to today, in which she finds her singer/songwriter self frequenting the recording studio and releasing original tracks out into the ether. Or the ethos. Take your pick.Follow her on Instagram (@tanyasieber.music), Twitter (@MusicSieber), or Facebook (Tanya Sieber Music) for social-media updates. More importantly, you can access her music on bandcamp (tanyasieber.bandcamp.com), which appears to be a digital source for music streaming that maybe puts a little more coin in the artist's pocket than others might, so please consider supporting her there.Regardless, you can find both her 2021 album, Beautiful Scars, and her brand-new single "Marked" there on her bandcamp. As for her yet-to-be-released single, "Sweet Night," dig in here to Episode #4 of Badass Records for a sneak listen. We talked a lot about her stuff in this conversation, but we also dabbled in Soundgarden, Jethro Tull, and a heavy dose of Sheryl Crow, not to mention sundry others.A few notes from the backside of the production glass:1) The Badass Records Podcast has a slogan, and that slogan is, Badass Records, where the doorbell rings and the dog barks. Only took three and-a-half episodes for that to become truth.2) Late in the episode, a ticking or a static sound of some sort becomes audible. I don't know what it is or what caused it, but I heard it during both the recording and editing processes, and am as aware of its existence as I am my inability to remedy it.3) I didn't mute our mics (because I didn't and don't know any better) when we listened to Tanya's tracks, so if you're hearing a faint echo of sorts in or around those three segments, that's why.copywright disclaimer(s): I do not own the rights to the intro/outro audio tracks; they are The Deadbeats' "Funky for You" (from their 2021 album, Lounging) c/o Space Hopper, and Morcheeba's "Be Yourself" (from their 2000 record called Fragments of Freedom), c/o China Records, Ltd. I do, however, have permission to play Mrs. Sieber's stuff on both the Internet and on YouTube, because -- Duh, Admiral Algorithm -- she's the guest of the episode and the owner of the content.
