How are you Victoria Myers: today? Hi, Chuck. I'm great. Thank you. Chuck Solomon: Can you please tell listeners a little bit about yourself and your company and your role at the company? Victoria Myers: Sure, and thank you for the opportunity to share a little bit about my story. I have more than 20 years in recruiting and talent acquisition. Way back when, and after 20 years, you don't, you don't count after that. It tells your age. But way back when, I started off in the agency side of recruiting, and I did a split desk of sales and recruiting. And then basically just kind of really felt that I liked the recruiting side of life more. I felt like it was it met an internal need of mine that I wanted to help people. And I felt like I was helping people find jobs. So that was very rewarding for me. So I just continued that path and then when I joined Amdocs about four and a half years ago, I joined as the North America talent acquisition manager, and I was leading the strategy and the team specific to filling all the open positions in North America. After about a year and a half, I had the opportunity to then move into a director level role, which is a, the regional lead over Americas. And for us, that means now managing the North America team, as well as the Central and Latin America teams. I had managers who reported to me and then they had teams. There was a whole structure to it. Then we really went on, on a quest of this would have been at the end of 2021, early 2022 of thinking through how do we want to grow? As a company, how do we want to grow within talent acquisition? So I led a little project team thinking through talent attraction and where are we today and where do we want to be in the future and what are the, what are the pain points and the gaps? And through that, we've made a lot of recommendations of how we wanted to improve. How are you this afternoon? Good. Chuck. How are you? I'm doing well. Could you please tell listeners a little bit about Martha, the company you work for and your current role? Martha Angle: Sure. I'd love to. First again, thank you for, for having me on. My name is Martha Angle. I am the VP of talent management and inclusion. I have one stream software. I've been with OneStream almost nine years now and seeing this startup really kind of grow from a scrappy startup into now an accelerated growth company. So we've grown from when I started about 30 employees to now north of 1300. So the growth has been pretty cool over the years, almost a decade. And I've got a lot of stories to tell depending on how much time you got. But yeah, this has definitely been home for me for a very long time. Yeah. And personally I'm a mom, I have a 10 year old and a 12 year old, two awesome kids at home. And yeah, I'm excited to, to share a little bit about what my experience has been. Chuck Solomon: Well, I appreciate it. We're, I'm actually not even sure where you live, where do you live, where are you calling Martha Angle: in from today? I'm in Birmingham, Michigan, actually. So that's where OneStream's headquarters is. That's where I'm calling in from today. So Chuck Solomon: tell me, how did you get into this talent Martha Angle: space? So I got started in human resources in general right out of college. So my, my degree was in English and philosophy and bringing those sort of two things together, I was able to, to talk a little bit about the employee experience and, and help in making decisions and, and writing, you know, strong communications. And so that's where I started actually with what was OneStream's predecessor, Upstream. How are you today? I'm good, Chuck. How are you? I'm doing well. Could you please let listeners know a little bit about yourself, your company, and, and your role? Lauren Ahrens: Yeah, for sure. So I'm Lauren. I lead global recruiting for a company called H1. We're a Series C startup focused on global healthcare data. Lauren Ahrens: We actually have a software platform that speeds decision making and insights for users in life sciences and pharmaceutical industries and so forth. And I've been in recruiting for the last 10 plus years, focused mostly on building data and technology enabled recruiting teams and building great candidate experiences. Chuck Solomon: Awesome. What got you started in working in this talent space? Lauren Ahrens: Yeah. Honestly, I really recognized it was, it's interesting, it was actually 2008 when mm-hmm. You know, the, the first sort of first real economic crisis I had right. Of my own personal career.  Right. And I was working for a financial services startup at the time. Lauren Ahrens: And what I noticed is that there were a lot of very unseasoned managers who really struggled to sort of keep a lid on their stress and noticed how it influenced their team somewhat negatively. And I sort of became very kind of hyper aware of how hiring decisions impacted the culture of a company. Lauren Ahrens: Sure. Super important to me. Not just the candidate experience, but also how it leads into the employee experience. And I wanted a hand in helping shape that. Chuck Solomon: That's great. I asked that same question of all my guests and I, it is the same question, but I get really unique answers. I think not, not once have I had someone say, well, I was in high school and my guidance counselor said, you should be a recruiter. Lauren Ahrens: A recruiter. I went to college and got a degree in recruiting. Said no recruiting leader ever. Kaitlyn Tarpey Borea Hi, Chuck, I'm so great. How are you? Chuck Solomon I'm doing well, Happy Friday to you. I appreciate you taking the time to have a conversation with me and share your insights and knowledge with my listeners. But before we get started, can you let listeners know a little bit about yourself? Kaitlyn Tarpey Borea Sure. Well, thanks for having me first. My name is Kaitlyn, I run the talent function at TOMO, which is a fin tech startup. It's about two and a half years old. But prior to working in the startup world, I had a really fun career in fashion and in finance before that. So I've been on the HR recruitment side and many different industries, but have always found myself within the recruitment space. That's where my heart is. Chuck Solomon Gotcha. I totally understand. How did you know how did you get into this? Talent? People attraction space? Kaitlyn Tarpey Borea It's such a good question, because I feel that so many people say they fall into it. For me, I was I am the daughter of an accountant and a math teacher. And so I knew from a very early age that I did not want to work with numbers. I wanted to work with people. And so I knew at least that much going through undergrad. And really, when I think about what recruitment is, it's matchmaking but it's also being an ambassador for a company for a brand for an organization that, that you're passionate about. And I've had some good practice, in situations like that I grew up in the pageant circuit. And you know, it's very natural to me to connect people, and to guide people to into whatever it is that their heart's calling them for. So there's a little bit of I knew I wanted to do with people versus numbers. And then just sort of a circumstance where I fell into an assignment, I ended up being successful in that assignment. And then my career really took off after that. What's your backstory? Rosie Martinson 0:51 It's a really great question. Because as as you know, I'm sure being in this world, some people are in HR, and some are marketing. And some as recruiters, there's lots of different ways to get into this space. And so, I actually am a marketer at heart, I've been in marketing for over 15 years, I have a public relations advertising degree. And about seven or eight years ago, as I was working in healthcare marketing, I was looking for something new, and I wanted to grow my career and work for a larger company. And so, I came across a demand generation manager role. And, you know, if if, you know, marketing demand generation is a marketing term, and it's a marketer that is generating demand, or a company's product or service, right, that you are marketing to your audience. Chuck Solomon 0:12 Appreciate it. So before we get into talking about candidate experience, can you give like a, you know, quick overview of sort of how how'd you get into the hiring industry? Omer Molad 0:24 Sure. So this startup that I'm a co founder of Vervoe is really my first kind of official foray into the hiring industry. Prior to that, I, my only experience in hiring was being hired or trying to get hired and, and hiring people as a hiring manager, which, which I did a lot of, in a past life, but I was not a recruitment practitioner in any in any form before starting this company. Chuck Solomon 1:02 Sure What, you know, you talk to a lot of companies out there, and I'm, like, you've seen a lot of, sort of can't good candidate experience bad candidate experience? Like, what are you seeing, like, where companies are getting candidate experience? Where they're doing it well? Omer Molad 1:22 Unfortunately, it's the minority of companies that, that do it? Well, in my opinion, and, sure, yeah, and if I had to really sort of boil it down to something really simple. A good candidate experience is an experience that sets a candidate up for success and, and gives them an opportunity to, to put their best foot forward. And a bad candidate experience is one that creates obstacles for the candidate, and makes it difficult for them to put their best foot forward. And all the rest is really just detail. Right?
