A huge thanks to IFOAM Organics International & FIBL for making this amazing document consistently available for the organic movement. _ The report looks at the consolidated data from 2020, which shows organic food sales reached 120 billion euros. Double-digit growth rates were recorded in many advanced markets for organic products. A research conducted by Naoufel Mzoughi in 2014 found that organic farmers reported a higher levels of life satisfaction, compared to the conventional ones. _ Moreover, the positive relationship that was found also holds true for both recently-converted and earlier-converted farmers. At BIOFACH, we joined sessions and looked for individuals who were looking to converse on the topic of health, health claims and the importance of health as a key factor in 'pushing' Organic and vegetarian production and consumption. After attending several sessions and discussing with many other individuals, we settled to have a conversation with Thomas Roland who is the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of Coop Denmark (Danish Consumers Cooperative Society). The Coop Danmark is the second-biggest retailer of consumer goods in Denmark, with a market share of 40% and 1.4 million members. She has been very pro-active in articulating on why we need biodiversity at the same time saying #NoToGMO's where she actually played a very critical role in the government's decision to outlaw GMO's back in 2012 I started off by first understanding what biodiversity is, and why we actually need it. We also delved deep into the controversial topic of GMO's where she helped us understand what GMO's are, what their effects are, what we can learn from the African countries already growing them and whether we actually need them! On arrival, the one thing that you couldn't ignore of the place is its epic view over the Rift Valley. This lets you adore and appreciate how beautiful and magnificent our country Kenya can be! On arrival at his home, you could tell how different his home was from the typical home. Where as in a typical home you could find a well cut compound with just a few plants here and there, his was different! He allowed various plants to continue to grow, NOT even trying to trim them down, but rather to let them thrive! Why? All this plants have medicinal value!
