In episode 239 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about Azure NetApp Files. After focusing on AI in the last few shows, lets get back to something more deterministik: Storage! We had already talked about sophisticated storage requirements for SAP S/4HANA projects and how Azure NetApp Files provides one of the best and most performant options for the most demanding workload. However, flexibility was sometimes an issue. With the new flexible service level ANF allows you now to independently configure storage capacity and throughput, optimizing costs and performance by right-sizing based on your needs. To give us more insights on this (and covering the latest news around ANF in general) we have Geert joining us again. In episode 238 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about next wave of AI. Last week we heard from CJ about a cool usage for the office of the CFO, combining Semantic Kernel, Azure AI Agents and Code Interpreter. This time we have also a known guest with us: Amit Lal. Amit was one of the first to publish SAP related apps to ChatGPT, he released several Agents for Microsoft Copilot and he always has amazing demos to show for our customers. There is now even a nice action figure of Amit available -- well, at least virtual. In episode 237 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about again about SAP and AI. When I presented at the DSAG Technologydays a few weeks I started to talk about the Joule & Copilot integration. While I think this is going to be a great integration of the UI for AIs, I can see a lot of other activities happening when it comes to SAP and AI. Week by week our colleauge CJ is publishing great articles on LinkedIn about AI can work with SAP, from Agentic AI Workflow for SAP to Leveraging Semantic Kernel + Azure AI Agents + Code Interpreter for CFO Office. I am glad to have him back on our show to talk more about this integration. In episode 236 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about GitHub Copilot in Eclipse. A few weeks ago, we released a blog post "Introducing ABAP Support in GitHub Copilot for Eclipse". Immediately after publsihing it, there were quite a few comments form the community. Last week I was at the DSAG technology days and there I was also asked by a lot of customers, partners, SAP Mentors and others about the status and meaning of all of it. So in todays session I am really happy to have Sandra Ahlgrimm and Hang Wang with us to talk more about the GitHub Copilot for Eclipse. If you have used GitHub Copilot in Eclipse for ABAP and want to share your feedback -- please let us know!Find all the links mentioned here: https://www.saponazurepodcast.de/episode236Reach out to us for any feedback / questions:* Robert Boban: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rboban/* Goran Condric: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gorancondric/* Holger Bruchelt: https://www.linkedin.com/in/holger-bruchelt/ #Microsoft #SAP #Azure #SAPonAzure #Eclipse #GitHubCopilot #Copilot #GitHub #ABAP #ABAPisNotDead
In episode 235 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about DSAG TechXChange 2025. We are recording this session on Tuesday. Next Friday (so actually one day before we publish this video), we have 5 different hands-on labs at the DSAG TechXChange 2025 event. You might ask: well, why do I care? I am not even attending? Or if you are, you might not have been able to sign-up, because all the sessions are fully booked. Well, the cool thing is that all the sessions are document and published on GitHub now. So if you were not able to attend, you can still take a look at the tutorials, which guide you through the process. In most cases, you can easily substitute the setup that we are providing for the event, with envorinment that are available in a trial. With this we hope you can also experience the benefits of integrating SAP with Microsoft. To give you a glimpse of what we have prepared, I have some of the contributors for the sessions with us today: Martin, Martin and Michael from SAP. Before we take a look at the sessions, lets start with a quick introduction. In episode 234 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we continue our coverage of SAP and Microsoft Fabric integration. We really see a huge interest from customers on how to integrate SAP data with Fabric. Luckily the open mirroring platform functionalities make the integration quite easy. In the past few episodes we already had partners like dab and Simplement who offer out of the box solutions for this kind of integration, but also Interdobs and Powerdobs who showed how to integrate via SAP Datasphere. This time we start with the partner asapio followed by Theobald who also have worked on an out of the box integration of SAP data into Microsoft Fabric. In episode 233 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about Tata Projects. Migrating a 400 TB of SAP systems to RISE with SAP on Azure alone is a huge challange. Doing this within 9 months, with only 9 days of blackout is even better. But what makes this story so special is really leveraging the benefits of this Microsoft and SAP integration by implementing Power BI, Security Copilot, Power Platform and obviously also AI. In episode 232 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about Microsoft Fabric and SAP. Some episodes back we started to talk about SAP and the integration in Fabric using Open Mirroring. One of the key highlights there was the platform aspect. Fabric allows partners to plug into the Open Mirroring concept and bring their solutions. In following episodes we had already partners like dab and Simplement joining us, talking about their solution. Today we want to continue to look at partners who extend the integration of SAP solutions into Fabric. Interdobs and powerdobs are interesting partners in this regards, because they designed a Datasphere-based open mirroring service offering. To tell us more about their solutions, I am happy to have Ronald, Ernst, Tim and Martijn from Interdobs with us today. In episode 231 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about GitHub Actions. Diviating little from classic SAP and Microsoft topics, we take a look at GitHub today. Millions of development projects are done on GitHub. In most cases -- when I look at my own projects -- it is just about pushing data to a GitHub repo and that's it. Our SAPonAzurePodcast website is a small exception, where we do some automation. But you can do much, much more. Christian Lechner from SAP is THE expert on this for me. He has not only done some amazing things with Terraform and BTP, but also automated almost everything in his repos on GitHub with GitHub Actions. In episode 230 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about platform transformations. In the last few episode we were pretty high on the SAP and Microsoft stack. We talked about Data, AI and also security. Today we are going back more on the infrastructure level and talk about helping customer building the next platform transformation on Azure. To give us an update on these topics, I am happy to have Sid Rabindran back on our podcast. In episode 229 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk again about AI and SAP.The last few months have seen an amazing evolution in AI. What started as a simple Bot Framework, evolved to GPT driven Chatbots, to Copilot to users interacting with agents. The latest step -- like what we are doing together with SAP on the Joule and Copilot integration -- is multi-agent integration. Chan Jin Park, CJ, was on our show twice to talk about his scenarios and demos leveraging Azure OpenAI, Teams and Copilot integrations. I am glad to have him back to show us his latest developments. In episode 227 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about SNC. In the past we have talked about OData services quite a lot, however, RFC communication is still used by many customers. While RFC provides a seamless and efficient integration to your SAP system, it is by default not secure. That's where SNC, the Secure Network Communications comes in. But how do you set it up? How do yet get started? Martin Pankraz recently published a blost post that outlines the required steps so that you can use RFC via SNC in your Power Platfrom, Logic Apps or Microsoft Fabric integration scenarios. In episode 206 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we take a look behind the configuration for principal propagation with Power Automate, Azure API Management and SAP. In previous episodes we talked about the new Single Sign-On capabilities of the SAP ERP Connector and the SAP OData Connector. We talked about the benefits and also showed how this can be used in Power Automate, Copilot Studio and other applications. Talking about SSO is always a little complicated, but today we till take a closer look on how to setup principal propagation with Power Platform and SAP using the SAP OData Connector. For this I am happy to have Scott Woodall and Martin Pankraz with us today. In episode 205 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we take a look behind the scene of the Copilot Studio and SAP integration we showed in previous episodes. This session is special for me on multiple fronts: for one our guest, Noopur Vaishnav has been on the show the first time about a year ago. At that time she was a new intern at Microsoft. In the meantime, quite a few things have changed. Noopur is now working as a full time employee at Microsoft and we were lucky to get her back in our team. The other cool thing is that Noopur has continued to work on Copilots and SAP. A few episodes back we already talked about how Copilot Studio can be used to create integration with SAP and today Noopur can give us additional insights on how you can do the very same thing. In episode 204 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about Single Sign-On with Power Platform and SAP. Those of you following us, know that I am a huge fan of the Power Platform and SAP integration. We talked several times about the SAP ERP Connector, the SAP OData Connector, Copilot Studio and also had customers and partners joining us to talk about their solutions with Power Platform and SAP. Quite often, the first steps in getting started with Power Platform and SAP starts with Basic Authentication. That's also the way how I would recommend to start, but at some point you need to make this integration enterprise ready. This means: Single Sign-On. Well, today is your lucky day: we just expanded our Single Sign-On options for both the SAP ERP Connector and the SAP OData Connector. For this, I am really honored to have Shailja Nair and Martin Pankraz with us on the show to give us some first insights. In episode 203 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about SAP IDM and Entra ID. A few months ago SAP had announced the End-of-Maintenance of the SAP Identity Management (SAP IDM) solution in 2027 or 2030 with Extended maintenance. This announcement resulted in a lot of feedback from customer and Michael Friedrich from SAP stated in a blogpost that Microsoft and SAP are actively collaborating to develop guidance that enables customers to migrate their identity management scenarios from SAP Identity Management to Microsoft Entra ID. Since then we have been very busy. We not only worked closely together, but we also reached out to DSAG and ask the IDM community for help and advice. To tell you a little about what we have been doing, where we are and what's going to happen in the next months I am gload to have Jannis Rondorf, the head of the SAP IDM working group at DSAG, Chris Radkowski from SAP and two Microsoft colleagues Mark Wahl and Martin Raepple with us. In episode 202 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about Copilot and SAP. In our last episode we talked about the native integration of Microsoft Copilot in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition and how SAP is shipping out of the box content that customers can use right away. We had also talked about the SAP Joule and Microsoft Copilot integration that Christian Klein announced during Sapphire. Both of these scenarios are fantastic and help customers to immediately get started. However, we also know that customer often need very specific, very unique integration -- obviously also with Copilot. That's where you might want to develop your own scenarios. With the Copilot SDK for Visual Studio Code or even better with Copilot Studio creating your own Copilot integration is easier than ever. To give us an overview of the different options how customers and partners can leverage Copilot in the context of SAP, I am really glad to have Robert Hernandez with us today. In episode 200 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about the partnership between SAP and Microsoft. We are at episode 200! 200 episodes ago, Robert, Goran and I started to record this weekly call. We wanted to cover the space between SAP and Microsoft and I think we have done a fairly good job. We had lots of guests from Microsoft, but also SAP and other partners here on the show that talked about the combination of SAP and Microsoft. Today I am really happy to have Silvio Bessa with us, the global Lead of our SAP Business Unit at Microsoft. In episode 199 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about Azure NetApp Files. A few weeks ago we already talked about the importance of high IO and throughput when it comes to storage. From an Azure side we have some really powerful storage solutions. Among them is Azure NetApp Files, a first party integration of NetApp Files in Azure. This service has been around for over 5 years and we already talked about it in the past. Now I am happy to have Geert back with us to share with us the latest news on Azure NetApp File.Find all the links mentioned here: https://www.saponazurepodcast.de/episode199Reach out to us for any feedback / questions:* Robert Boban: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rboban/* Goran Condric: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gorancondric/* Holger Bruchelt: https://www.linkedin.com/in/holger-bruchelt/ #Microsoft #SAP #Azure #SAPonAzure #ANF
In episode 198 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about Zero Trust Security with SAP. When was the last time you thought about security? Especially in the context of your SAP system? When preparing for this podcast I did a little research on SAP and security -- and it is actually pretty horrifying how many incidents are even documented in the public. I guess there are even more incidents happening every day across the world. So securing your SAP system becomes more and more important. To talk a little more about Zero Trust Security Principles for SAP I am really glad to have a number of experts with us today: Joe Speziale, Daniel Mauser and the one and only Evren Buyruk. In episode 197 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about how to improve storage throughput. In our last episode we quickly mentioned how features and capabilities are constantly added to services in the cloud. We talked about this in the context of the Azure Monitor for SAP solutions, but obviously these enhancements and optimizations are also happening on a lower level. Especially in SAP Hana installations, I/O throughput is super critical. In the past SCSI was used to connect your disks to the VM. Now we can leverage NVMe (non-volatile memory express) using Azure Boost. To tell us more about this and actually show how to convert from SCSI to NVMe, I am glad to have Philipp Leitenbauer with us today. In episode 196 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about two topics. Since we just had Sapphire with some amazing announcements, we first want to do a quick recap from a Microsoft points of view. Then we also want to take another look at Azure Monitor for SAP Solutions. Although there are no major updates, I always find it fascinating how continues the improvements are in the cloud. That is really one of the main benefits of cloud vs. on-perm that you constantly get new features — but you need to know about them. So that‘s why I am happy to have Sujay and Akarsh joining us again to give us an update on the latest. In episode 193 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about the Azure Center for SAP Solutions and how it helps you from the Azure Portal to create and operate SAP systems. We talked about integrating other Azure solutions like Azure Monitor or the Health Check with your SAP system. One cool thing that is availalble under the hood are APIs which allows you to fetch all this information from your SAP system. And this can actually be quite powerful. Trond Stroemme took these APIs and built a really neat Copilot scenario around it. Using the Azure AI Studio you can now build a simple Chat that allows you to interact with the Azure Center for SAP Solutions.
