Borrowing Port-Hamiltonian thinking, he's building probability ports to pull measurement talk into actual quantum formalism—no change to QM, just sharper math. He also flips gravity: start from the matter action and construct the compatible gravitational dynamics—Maxwell in, Einstein–Hilbert out. And if nature ever breaks our current causal picture, the scheme points to richer structures (and the gravity to match)—a modest idea, pushed hard. Artist and author Maurice Sendak was able to achieve significant and enduring success in art and children's literature during his lifetime. But what secrets did he had to keep from his family, publishers, parents, librarians, and readers as a gay, Jewish man negotiating the field of children's literature? Sendak wrote and illustrated books that nurtured children and adults alike. Winner of the 1964 Caldecott Medal for Where the Wild Things Are, in 1970 Sendak became the first American illustrator to receive the international Hans Christian Anderson Award, given in recognition of his entire body of work. Sendak's work has been the subject of several extensive retrospective art shows at prestigious museums across the country. Sendak lived in Ridgefield, Connecticut with his partner Dr. Eugene Glynn for over 50 years. In this episode, my guest is Dr. Golan Moskowitz, author of Wild Visionary, Maurice Sendak in Queer Jewish Context, published by Stanford University Press in 2021. Dr. Moskowitz is an Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies and a faculty member of the Grant Center for the American Jewish Experience at Tulane University. He serves as Book Review Editor for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and as director of the Jewish American and Holocaust Literature Symposium. Golan is currently working on a cultural history of Jewish American involvement in the art of drag. Send us a textErnest Hemingway's 1929 novel A Farewell to Arms is probably the most famous war novel in American literary history. Inspired by his own wounding on the Italian front shortly before his nineteenth birthday, Hemingway tells the story of a disillusioned American serving in a foreign army, Frederic Henry, who falls in love with a Red Cross nurse, Catherine Barkley, shortly before the disastrous rout the Italians suffered at Caporetto in late 1917, which Frederic barely survives. In an epic tale that explores the tragedy of love amid combat, Hemingway offers a brutally naturalistic portrait of the Great War that somehow manages to be stylistically beautiful. In this episode we explore the biographical background of the plot, the Italian history that Hemingway managed to cull from his studies (the novel takes place before his own time in Italy), and the question of whether love and war hasn't become one of the hoarier cliches in the literature of soldiers in battle.
Frederic Fekkai, the celebrity hairstylist and luxury brand mogul, was named in court documents by Virginia Roberts Giuffre as one of the individuals to whom Jeffrey Epstein allegedly trafficked her for sex. Giuffre's sworn testimony placed Fekkai among a group of elite men who, according to her account, participated in Epstein's trafficking ring by engaging in sexual acts with her while she was underage and under Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's control. Fekkai has denied the allegations and has not been charged with any crime, but his inclusion in the unsealed legal filings tied him to the wider web of high-profile names associated with Epstein's network of abuse and exploitation.Unlike some of the more politically prominent figures in Epstein's circle, Fekkai's alleged involvement drew relatively little media attention, despite the gravity of the accusations. He had previously cultivated an image rooted in fashion, luxury, and celebrity culture, with clientele that included some of the most powerful women in the world. His reported proximity to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell underscores the breadth and diversity of Epstein's social reach—stretching from Wall Street to Hollywood, from Buckingham Palace to beauty salons. While no further legal action has been taken against Fekkai, the mention of his name in Giuffre's testimony serves as yet another example of how Epstein's circle was studded with individuals from every corner of elite society, many of whom have faced little to no accountability.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comhttps://www.thedailybeast.com/jeffrey-epstein-flaunted-girls-after-his-arrest-at-frederic-fekkais-hair-salon-for-the-stars

You've hired great people individually, but your team still isn't performing at its potential. Sound familiar? Most companies focus on individual talent while completely missing the multiplier effect of understanding how team members naturally function together. In Part 3 of our series with Frederic Lucas-Conwell, President of GRI (Growth Resources Institute), we dive into "The Team Performance Multiplier"—how behavioral dynamics can accelerate revenue growth through better collaboration and decision-making. Unlike generic team-building exercises, this approach focuses on understanding the specific behavioral requirements of different types of teams and how individual dynamics create group performance. Frederic reveals why it takes just one person to derail team performance and shares insights from working with diverse teams—from Silicon Valley startups to government agencies, accounting departments to sales teams. We explore the critical difference between adapting people to jobs versus adapting jobs to people, and why most companies wait too long to address team dysfunction. Susan shares real-world examples from her work with startup founders who each want to hire someone to handle "the stuff they don't like to do"—revealing how misaligned expectations create hiring disasters. This conversation moves beyond surface-level team building to practical strategies for creating team alignment, building trust, and leveraging each member's behavioral strengths for maximum revenue impact. Key Points Team-Specific Performance Models - Different team types (sales, accounting, startups, executive) require different behavioral dynamics and performance approaches Individual vs. Group Dynamics - Analyze both personal behavioral patterns and how they interact within the team environment Job-Person Fit Analysis - Determine whether to adapt the person to the job or restructure the role to match behavioral strengths Energy Cost Assessment - Understand the energy required for behavioral adaptation and provide appropriate support systems Alignment Before Team Building - Establish shared goals and expectations before implementing any team development initiatives
www.iotusecase.com#ConditionMonitoring #GoldenBatch #IoTPlatformThis is a special 15-minute episode of the IoT Use Case Podcast. Host Madeleine Mickeleit speaks with Frederic Schum, Product Manager Digital Solutions at ALD Vacuum Technologies. In focus: how ALD is using its Expert Grid platform to implement process transparency across industrial furnaces – including the use of “golden batch” monitoring as a real-world example. Podcast SummaryIn this short episode, Frederi Schum from ALD Vacuum Technologies shares how the company is driving digital transformation in industrial heat treatment and vacuum metallurgy. At the heart of their approach is the ALD Expert Grid platform, which enables connectivity to both new and decades-old furnaces. Frederic explains how this platform serves as a foundation for real-time monitoring, data visualization, and integration with existing MES and ERP systems. A key example discussed is the “golden batch” principle—a method of comparing live process values against an ideal reference curve based on historical production data. The conversation also covers how ALD overcomes technical challenges such as legacy PLCs, missing interfaces, and global equipment heterogeneity. The Expert Grid's modular architecture allows ALD to adapt to individual customer setups and build reliable, future-proof solutions. This episode offers a clear and practical look at how platform-based IoT is being applied in the heavy industry sector—starting with transparency and evolving toward intelligent process control.

Your son just graduated college with excellent grades, but can't get past the "AI robot" screening resumes. Meanwhile, companies like Nike are using AI filters as their first hiring step, eliminating potentially brilliant candidates before any human ever sees them. What's going wrong with this approach? In Part 2 of our series with Frederic Lucas-Conwell, President of GRI (Growth Resources Institute), we dive beyond traditional resume screening into the world of AI-enhanced behavioral profiling. While most companies use AI to filter OUT candidates based on keywords and credentials, GRI uses AI to understand HOW people actually function in roles. Frederic reveals the fundamental flaw in asking for "perfect" candidates and shares how behavioral intelligence helps you spot the hidden characteristics that drive revenue performance—especially in candidates who might not have the perfect resume. We explore why recent college graduates with stellar academics are being eliminated by systems that can't see their potential, and how companies can identify candidates who are ready to quit their current jobs (and how to attract them). Susan shares a real-world example of interviewing two best friends using GRI's approach, demonstrating how behavioral insights create instant trust and reveal traits that would never appear on a resume. This isn't just about hiring—it's about seeing what your eyes cannot see. Today, we're venturing to a corner of Europe that feels like a world all its own - the Basque Country. Straddling Spain and France, this is a place where ancient traditions meet avant-garde cuisine, where surfers ride some of the best waves in Europe, and where you can hear one of the oldest living languages on the continent. There's a saying in Basque, “Izena duenak izana du,” which means, “That which has a name, exists.” The Basque Country is a place that names its mountains, its winds, its waves – and by doing so, keeps its ancient identity alive. Joining me today is Frederic Du Coral, who takes us deep into this interesting culture. Most hiring managers are drowning in resumes, conducting endless interviews, and still ending up with costly mis-hires that drain productivity and morale. What if the problem isn't finding good candidates—it's understanding what you actually need before you start looking? In this episode of Rooted in Revenue, host Susan Finch sits down with Frederic Lucas-Conwell, President of GRI (Growth Resources Institute), to explore how behavioral intelligence is revolutionizing the hiring process. Unlike traditional personality tests or gut-feeling interviews, GRI's approach uses objective, nuanced assessments to help organizations understand not just who people are, but how they actually function in specific roles. Frederic reveals why so many job descriptions ask for "Mr. or Mrs. Perfect" and how this backwards approach leads to expensive hiring mistakes. We dive into the true financial impact of poor hiring decisions—from wasted interview time to costly three-month turnovers—and how behavioral intelligence can help you identify mismatches in weeks instead of months. Whether you're a CEO struggling with team performance, an HR professional tired of hiring misses, or a manager trying to get the best out of your existing team, this conversation offers practical insights into building high-performing organizations through a better understanding of people. On the happy occasion of Mark's new Norton Library edition of A Farewell to Arms, One True Podcast goes deep into its vault. We are at last releasing to the general public one of our seldom-heard Patreon episodes, an exploration of the final chapter of A Farewell to Arms, the epic and heart-wrenching chapter 41.We discuss Catherine's behavior, the narrative's disproportionate focus on Frederic as a witness, his eating and drinking, the medical staff, a couple of one true sentences, the ethics of reading someone else's newspaper, and the notion that the ending of this novel may or may not represent Hemingway's worldview. After the unearthed Patreon episode, we continue the discussion, exploring Hemingway's alternate endings and what that tells us about Hemingway's artistic process. We hope you'll enjoy this wide-ranging discussion, ideally in the rain.

Frederic Gray is a national speaker, author, and the founder of the Fathers of Faith and Daughters of Excellence Retreat in Tampa, Florida. He's also the author of “How to Win Your Children's Heart Using God's Word.” To connect with Frederic Gray, you can visit his websites at either: http://www.FredericGray.com or http://wwww.FatherDaughterRetreat.com. Here are the steps Frederic outlined for us: When to spank: When they clearly understand the rules they broke and your expectations of them. Make sure they understand that the most important thing to do is obey God. Find a private place to spank them. Speak super gentle to them and without anger. Have them tell you what they were supposed to do, but didn't. Ask them: "Did you obey Daddy?" Ask them: "Did you obey God?" Share a verse from the Bible on discipline (Ex. Prov. 13:24). Ask them: "What is God telling me to do?" (child: to spank me) Ask them: "If I don't spank you, am I obeying God?" Tell them: "I want to obey God, because I love you and I love God." Ask them (again):"Do you know why I'm going to give you a spanking?" Pray with them BEFORE you spank them (while holding them close). Use the rod/paddle (NOT your hand) when spanking your child. Hit them only on the bottom (let it hurt, but don't damage them). Lay with them afterwards to comfort them and affirm them. --------------------------------- If you want to help us transform the lives of even MORE MEN for God's glory, please take a minute to leave us a helpful REVIEW and SHARE this podcast with any man you know who's in need of help and hope and is hurting.” And to make sure you don't miss a podcast episode, as well as contest give-a-ways, special announcements, and much more, make sure you "Stay Connected" by visiting us at https://station.page/realmen to join our online community of podcast listeners. “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:31–32 NLT) Frederic the Great, the king of Prussia, once visited a prison and talked with each of the inmates. He heard countless tales of innocence, exploitation, and misunderstood motives. If the prisoners were to be believed, no one in the prison was guilty. Each convict had been framed or set up. Finally, the king stopped at the cell of a convict who stared at him silently. Frederic said, “Well, I suppose you are an innocent victim, too.” “No, sir,” the prisoner replied, “I’m not. I am guilty, and I deserve my punishment.” Turning to the warden, Frederic said, “Quick, get this man out of here before he corrupts these other innocent people.” Frederic the Great couldn’t believe he had found an honest man—someone who would own up to what he had done wrong. Do you need to own up to something you’ve done? Or are you playing the blame game, as the prisoners did? It’s a tempting strategy—and a popular one. When politicians, public officials, or celebrities get caught doing something wrong, they all seem to have ready-made stories about their innocence and about the involvement of others. They’re only too happy to point fingers. Paul’s words in Ephesians 4:31–32 give us insight into God’s attitude toward finger-pointing—that is, get rid of it. Charles Swindoll summarized blame this way: “Blame never affirms, it assaults. Blame never restores, it wounds. Blame never solves, it complicates. Blame never unites, it separates. Blame never smiles, it frowns. Blame never forgives, it rejects. Blame never forgets, it remembers. Blame never builds, it destroys.” We could add to that list, “Blame never convinces God; it makes you look bad in His eyes.” In Psalm 139:7–8, David wrote, “I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there” (NLT). His point is that nothing can be hidden from God. God sees everything. He doesn’t look in another direction when you point fingers because He already knows what you’ve done. Spiritually speaking, blame is a stall tactic. You blame others because you don’t want to own up to your guilt. Maybe it’s pride that causes you to look for scapegoats; maybe it’s denial. Whatever the cause, the longer you insist on blaming others and denying your guilt, the longer your guilt disrupts your relationship with your heavenly Father. The apostle John wrote, “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts” (1 John 1:8–10 NLT). God already knows what you’ve done. And He stands ready to forgive and forget it. Sooner or later, you have to say, “I have sinned. I have done wrong. The problem is me.” The moment you stop blaming and accept full responsibility for your actions is the moment you start to heal. Reflection question: How do you avoid the temptation to blame others when you do wrong? Aight folks, another offseason episode for the podcast and we greatly appreciate you all for sticking with us through the playoffs. Alas, we have reached the cup finals and we're -- excited? Maybe? There's some storylines in this matchup for sure when it comes to the Boston Bruins with Marchand and Frederic. But there's more in the news cycle -- like the false alarm on the head coaching search. We fully expect a new bench boss to be announced during this cup. Will it be Marco Sturm? Cynically acclaimed. Incredibly online.
