Scaling Sustainability: Tracking Embodied Carbon and Scope 3 Emissions A key focus of the conversation is sustainability, where Aligned continues to push boundaries in carbon tracking and energy efficiency. Lawson-Shanks highlights the company's commitment to monitoring embodied carbon—an effort that began four years ago and has since positioned Aligned as an industry leader. “We co-authored and helped found the Climate Accord with iMasons—taking sustainability to a whole new level,” he notes, emphasizing how Aligned is now extending its carbon traceability standards to ODATA's facilities in LATAM. By implementing lifecycle assessments (LCAs) and tracking Scope 3 emissions, Aligned aims to provide clients with a detailed breakdown of their environmental impact. “The North American market is still behind in lifecycle assessments and environmental product declarations. Where gaps exist, we look for adjacencies and highlight them—helping move the industry forward,” Lawson-Shanks explains. The Nuclear Moment: A Game-Changer for Data Center Power One of the most compelling segments of the discussion revolves around the growing interest in nuclear energy—particularly small modular reactors (SMRs) and microreactors—as a viable long-term power solution for data centers. Lawson-Shanks describes the recent industry buzz surrounding OKLO's announcement of a 12-gigawatt deployment with Switch as a significant milestone, calling the move “inevitable.” “There are dozens of nuclear plants operating in the U.S. today, but people just don't pay much attention to them,” he says. “Companies like OKLO are designing advanced modular reactors that are walk-away safe, reuse spent fuel, and eliminate the risks associated with traditional light-water reactors. This is the path forward.” However, he acknowledges that the widespread adoption of nuclear will take time, given the regulatory hurdles of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the challenges of getting sites certified. Still, he remains optimistic: “We need this, and as an industry, we're pre-buying energy because we see the challenges ahead.” Bridging the Energy Gap with Natural Gas and Hydrogen While nuclear is a long-term solution, data centers need reliable power sources today. Lawson-Shanks sees natural gas as a practical interim solution, provided emissions can be mitigated. He also points to hydrogen as an emerging technology with potential, though challenges remain. “Hydrogen is really an energy transportation methodology rather than an energy source,” he explains. “It's highly corrosive, and the infrastructure isn't fully in place yet, but it's something we're closely monitoring.” He predicts that natural gas reciprocating engines will serve as a bridge solution until nuclear modules become widely available. “Once we reach steady-state nuclear power, those gas engines could replace diesel generators, which we all want to phase out,” he says. Explosive Growth in LATAM and the Evolution of Aligned's Global Strategy The conversation also covers Aligned's expansion into Latin America following its acquisition of ODATA. Lawson-Shanks describes the region as a booming market, particularly in Brazil, where Aligned has access to renewable energy through its investment in wind farms. “LATAM is an enormous growth market, and our waterless cooling system is ideal for places like Santiago, where water scarcity makes evaporative cooling unfeasible,” he explains. Aligned is integrating its advanced cooling technologies—such as Delta³ and DeltaFlow—into ODATA's new facilities, ensuring that sustainability remains a core component of their LATAM operations. Innovating Beyond Cooling: The Future of Heat Reuse Another forward-looking topic is Aligned's interest in heat reuse, an area where Lawson-Shanks sees significant potential for innovation. Through its partnership with QScale in Canada, Aligned is exploring methods to capture and repurpose waste heat from data centers for other applications. “Their heat reuse strategy is really interesting, and we're looking at how we can implement similar solutions in North America,” he says, hinting at future developments to come. Looking Ahead: A Future Shaped by Innovation and Sustainability As the conversation wraps up, it's clear that Lawson-Shanks sees the data center industry at an inflection point. The combination of sustainability commitments, new energy technologies, and rapid global expansion is forcing companies to rethink traditional models and embrace innovation at an unprecedented scale. “We've always fought against the idea that data centers have to be built the same way they were in the 1970s,” he says. “We're constantly redesigning, rethinking how we procure energy, and pushing the industry forward.” With Aligned continuing to lead the charge in sustainability, energy innovation, and international expansion, the insights shared in this episode offer a compelling look at the challenges and opportunities ahead for the data center industry.

In this episode of the Futurum Tech Webcast, principal analyst Shelly Kramer is joined by Allan Pym, Chief Operating Officer at APOS, for a conversation on the challenges making the most of business data presents for organizations, and how APOS Live Data Gateway is helping solve those challenges — and in real time. We all know that data is crucial for today's organizations. From sales and marketing to manufacturing and maintenance, smart organizations need data to make decisions in real time. However, with so much data being gathered in so many different places, it can often feel impossible, overwhelming, or both to wrangle it intelligently. So, what can organizations do to make the most of their data? Are there other technology solutions that can help? Why does real-time matter when it comes to accessing and utilizing data? That's exactly what Allan and I covered today, and if you're wrestling with data challenges, it's a conversation you'll very much enjoy. We covered the following: We know that data is important, that's not a secret. In fact, some 94 percent of organizations report needing access to multiple data sources to support their decision-making — but not every organization knows what to do with their data. Allan shared some of the challenges he and the team at APOS are seeing as organizations wrestle with data connectivity. That's not at all difficult to understand, as research shows that on average companies are drawing from more than 400 different data sources. To compound that massive amount of data coming from myriad sources, one-third of companies report experiencing trouble simply connecting those sources together, let alone pulling accurate or meaningful insights from them. We discussed live connectivity: what it is and why it's so important for organizations today. Allan walked us through the APOS Live Data Gateway, its purpose and the key benefits organizations can experience using its three layers of functionality (Data Connection, Data Preparation, and Data Consumption) and three types of data views that can be utilized within the Data Preparation Layer. We explored APOS Live Data Gateway's Data Connection layer, where the solution makes the connection to data, and we talked about some of the data sources that APOS Live Data Gateway provides connectivity with. We explored both the Data Preparation layer and the Data Consumption layer, including how APOS Live Data Gateway works with SAP Solutions and how live connectivity versus import connectivity works with SAP Analytics Cloud. Lansarea magazinului online - este recomandata crearea unui landing page de teasing si colectarea datelor celor interesati (de lansarea magazinului, a produselor). Atat la lansarea magazinului cat si a unei game noi de produse, poti folosi popup-uri de colectare a adreselor de email. 2. Mentinerea bazei de date Pentru a te bucura de o baza de date sanatoasa, aceasta trebuie mentinuta. Cum sa faci asta? Nu este recomandat sa cumperi baze de date si nici sa trimiti email-uri de tip spam. Cel mai bine e sa-ti cresti propria baza de date, cu adresele de email colectate (chiar daca dureaza putin mai mult sa faci asta). Odata colectate adresele, e important sa comunici segmentat, in functie de preferinte si interese (imparte abonatii in grupuri distincte pe baza unui atribut comun). 3. Cum sa mentinem relatia cu abonatii si clientii Azi, oamenii sunt bombardati de email-uri. Din acest motiv e important sa comunici segmentat. Ofera-le informatie de interes, nu doar continut generalist ce deseori ajunge sa fie sters din inbox. Pentru inceput, creaza 2 segmente: 1. Abonatii - cei care nu au cumparat niciodata de la tine (incerci sa ii convingi sa faca prima achizitie) Acestora le trimiti email-uri cu produse mai ieftine. Trebuie sa le castigi increderea pentru a-i putea transforma in clienti. 2. Clientii - cei care au cumparat deja de la tine (poti sa le vinzi mai mult) Poti sa le oferi produse complementare si produse mai scumpe, premium.  In timp, pe masura ce baza ta de date creste, vei putea crea mai multe segmente, mai specifice.

The OData (Open Data) model of UI5 enables web-based applications to easily use the OData protocol for communication with application servers. Currently UI5 supports OData Version 2.0 and OData Version 4.0 in a given model implementation. Why have different model implementation approaches been chosen for the two versions? What are the similarities and differences? To get to the bottom of these questions, Christoph Haffner talks to Patric Ksinsik and Thomas Chadzelek, both developer architects for the UI5 model. Odata implementate si folosite frecvent, toate aceste lucruri vor parea mai simple. Nu sari peste etape pentru ca vei pierde o parte din audienta. Urmareste castigurile rapide  Te asiguri ca informatiile pe care le digeri si ocupa mult timp din cel alocat business-ului iti aduc castiguri rapide. Sa reusesti sa implementezi o tactica in cel mai scurt timp. 3. Nu tinti perfectiunea Asa ceva nu exista in antreprenoriat. Vrei ca lucrurile sa decurga cat mai rapid. Asadar, da drumul la treaba si vei vedea pe parcurs ce se mai poate ajusta/imbunatati. 4. Ia notite de mana Daca notezi ideile principale, cand participi la cursuri, webinarii, sau urmaresti diferite materiale, cresti sansele de a aplica informatia obtinuta. Odata notate, poti revizui oricand ideile principale/interesante. Pentru asta am creat plannerul Made for Business, un planner 100% pentru antreprenori si viitori antreprenori. 5. Testeaza-ti cunostintele Ce rezultate obtii dupa ce ai implementat ce cunosti deja? Vezi ce ai facut pentru business si cum functioneza ceea ce ai aplicat.  Filtreaza foarte bine informatiile si foloseste ceea ce te ajuta. Tine doar de tine sa obtii rezultatele pe care ti le doresti. Urmareste-i pe cei care practica, nu pe cei care ofera doar teorie.

The FileMaker platform keeps introducing new ways to send and receive data from other files or from another service. IN the latest versions, oData was introduced. Many developers think the use of oData now is a game changer. Our Guest, John Renfrew, gives us all the details about oData and makes it clear it is a game changer. At first it seemed kind of scary and new and incomprehensible, but his clear description of its strengths and uses demystifies this new feature.
