He has been seen in major films, Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and a funny regular as “man on the street” on The Wendy Williams Show. Francesco has had an extensive stand-up comedy career opening for Gilbert Godfrey and Judy Gold. His many years of comedy led to his opportunities of motivational public speaking which then led him to becoming a certified life coach. Francesco is grateful for his colorful journey and regularly performs, writes, and cohosts the podcast Later This Week with Coco and Fran. This summer, he will be a featured live speaker at the national Mental Health America conference in Washington, DC; where he will address healing fear through laughter. You can find Francesco on IG here and he is true Nina Simone fan. His most recent post on her quote, " Freedom means NO FEAR" was riveting. Please see below for part of his writing: "Care about what people think, but don’t care about what EVERYONE thinks. You know who cares about you, but they are not always the same person who understands you. Parents are not always the best support systems. They seek stability and insurance over happiness and risk. Seek out mentors and leaders you can follow into the light. You will always find someone who gets you. Be honest when talking about fear. If you are afraid of something, identify it. “Being lazy” is not a real thing. Call yourself out on your excuses. Start saying “yes” even when the solution seems to not be available yet. Eventually fear gets the hint and moves to another state. They will come back some days and visit, but you can always decide how long they stay"- Francesco Paladino. Today Daily Devotional

Scripture Reading: 1 John 5:13-15 [Jesus said,] “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” John 14:14 Maybe you have heard stories about genies. Genies are imaginary beings that can live in a lamp or a bottle, and when the bottle is rubbed, the genie comes out to grant wishes. At first, Jesus’ words “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it” may sound like the words of a genie. But Jesus isn’t talking about granting any wish we might have. As the apostle John explains in our Bible reading for today, what we pray for should be in line with God’s will. And how do we know what God’s will is? We learn about God’s will through reading and studying his Word. Prayer, in fact, goes hand in hand with knowing God’s Word and will. As God reveals himself to us in his Word, we naturally grow in love for God and in our desire to serve him and others. For example, we know that God calls us to love our neighbors, to care about their well-being, and to live peaceably with justice for all people. So we must pray (and work) for just and fair policies so that people everywhere may have good food and housing and safety, that they may learn and grow and flourish as God intends. There’s nothing magical about prayer. Prayers based on the foundation of God’s Word put us in the position of wanting what God wants and seeking his kingdom. And we can be assured that God answers these prayers as we ask them in Jesus’ name. Father, lead us by your Word and Spirit. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

In John 11:33, it says that Jesus was "deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled" when he saw Mary weeping over the death of her brother, Lazarus, and that even though Jesus knew he would soon raise Lazarus from the dead, he still entered into Mary's grief so deeply that the Jews around him remarked, "See how he loved him!" In western culture, where women and their emotions have often been labeled as irrational and hysterical, this seems completely revolutionary. But how would Jesus' reaction have been viewed in first century Jewish society? What was their perspective on emotions—and more particularly, on women's emotions—and did it differ at all from other ancient cultures? What does this tell us about how God sees women and what He thinks about human emotion in general? This week on Ask Away, Drs. Jo and Vince Vitale respond to the listener-submitted question, "Is the fact that Jesus was able to join Mary so deeply in her grief—to the point that others were talking about it—as revolutionary to society back then as I imagine it?" COVID-19 has drastically increased the church's use of technology. Is this a good thing? From the invention of the printing press to virtual church, was this really what Jesus had in mind when he commanded his followers to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations? Is technology truly bringing us closer together, or is it tearing us apart? This week on the Ask Away podcast, Drs. Jo and Vince Vitale answer the listener-submitted question, "What would Jesus' opinion be on using technology to witness to others today?" Have a question you want Ask Away to cover? Christians often talk about human salvation not as God's "plan B" but as a rescue operation that God initiated even before the foundation of the world. But if that is the case, then how can we trust that God's motives were good? Did He deliberately create a situation in which we would need saving just so He could get to swoop in to the rescue and take the credit for it? Even if He saved us from a fall, is He responsible for leaving us so close to a cliff? This week on the Ask Away podcast, join Drs. Vince and Jo Vitale as they dig into whether God truly is the hero of the story. Have a question you want Ask Away to cover? Why is God Father Rather than Mother?

One of the popular criticisms of Christianity is that the Bible treats women as "less than" men. The Scriptures, so the argument goes, seem to privilege men and "maleness," asking women to cover their hair, calling Eve a "helper," and even going so far as to identify the God of the universe as male—"Father." How can we make sense of this seeming sexism? In this rebroadcast of an episode from October 2017, Jo and Vince help unpack some of the misperceptions surrounding how women are viewed and valued in Scripture. Particularly relevant as we honor mothers this weekend in the US, Jo and Vince discuss pictures of God in the Bible, and the fact that God reveals himself in maternal ways we might not always realize. Questions Asked in This Episode: "Did God make sexism on purpose? For example, Jesus and God are male, Eve is the bad guy in our story, etc.""If we followed everything in the Bible, should I be wearing a headscarf?""In Heaven, are there genders?"Have a question you want Ask Away to cover?
