Stacy and Eric start the episode with some follow up from past episodes; but HOLD please, first they need to talk about Muzak, weepy dentist office music, the hunky-dancer-guy-with-a-dog movie, and fish tanks. They also workshop ideas for dentist office ceiling distractions and ponder why Oral B and not A? The episode is filled with convo bombs including Eleanor Rigby and Stitch as Elvis. Speaking of iconic performers, Eric talks about Battersea's recent show. Somehow Canadian snack talk leads to a Gilbert Godfrey impression and talk about Dil Pickles. Hear me out, it's a fun episode! Francesco Paladino is a classically trained actor, member of the Screen Actor’s Guild, and a writer of many things since the 1990s. He has been seen in major films, Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and a funny regular as “man on the street” on The Wendy Williams Show. Francesco has had an extensive stand-up comedy career opening for Gilbert Godfrey and Judy Gold. His many years of comedy led to his opportunities of motivational public speaking which then led him to becoming a certified life coach. Francesco is grateful for his colorful journey and regularly performs, writes, and cohosts the podcast Later This Week with Coco and Fran. This summer, he will be a featured live speaker at the national Mental Health America conference in Washington, DC; where he will address healing fear through laughter. You can find Francesco on IG here and he is true Nina Simone fan. His most recent post on her quote, " Freedom means NO FEAR" was riveting. Please see below for part of his writing: "Care about what people think, but don’t care about what EVERYONE thinks. You know who cares about you, but they are not always the same person who understands you. Parents are not always the best support systems. They seek stability and insurance over happiness and risk. Seek out mentors and leaders you can follow into the light. You will always find someone who gets you. Be honest when talking about fear. If you are afraid of something, identify it. “Being lazy” is not a real thing. Call yourself out on your excuses. Start saying “yes” even when the solution seems to not be available yet. Eventually fear gets the hint and moves to another state. They will come back some days and visit, but you can always decide how long they stay"- Francesco Paladino. I am launching a new segment, named “Dear Akilah”. Please send me an email with your questions, I do not care how crazy, outlandish or outrageous. ASK AWAY!!!! Thank you for taking the time to listen to the podcast. I would be so grateful if you could RATE, share, subscribe and comment. You are much appreciated. Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Looking Back Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast. Today, I decided to cover the next entry in the Look Who's Talking Trilogy, Look Who's Talking Too which was released in 1990 a year after Look Who's Talking (1989). Movie Synopsis: This time, a new baby is on the way, and it's a girl. Wrapped together with the standard conflict between mother and father, Mikey engages in a bit of sibling rivalry with his new sister. We also get the return of Molly's parents and Molly's friend Ron from the first movie, as well as a couple new characters, Molly's brother Stuart and Mikey's new friend Eddie (Voiced by Damon Wayans). Gilbert Godfrey guests as the the owner of the Baby Gym that Molly takes Mikey to and boy oh boy is this guy annoying, screaming at the kids, threatening to slap them, talking about having a heart attack multiple times and this is all speaking to toddlers. Molly's brother is... wow, I really have no words other than he is an (out of work accountant)a major dumb dumb, living on Molly and James's couch and threatening to shoot anyone who walks through their door including and not limited to James coming home from work and Roda coming to stay after her place is robbed, mind you with an unloaded gun with toddlers in the house. WTF! Baby Julie (voiced by Roseanne Barr) is amazingly hilarious in this movie, I can't see anyone else doing her voice. While reviewing this movie I do recall the tv version which I remember had deleted scenes that weren't in the theatrical cut. If love Elvis Presley, this is the movie for you, we have two Elvis Song Montages (James With "All Shook Up" At The Baby Gym) and(Molly With "Are You Lonesome Tonight?) while missing James and watching old romantic black and white movies in bed), so many song montages, ("I Love Being A Girl") Molly and Julie Dress Up For James/Daddy Montage) and Mikey's (Jealous Guy) Look Who's Talking/Look Who's Talking Too Flashback Montage. Not to mention James and Molly are always calling each other Elvis and Priscilla. I had a fun time covering this movie and hope you all enjoy it too. Stay tuned for December 2020, next month, I'll be covering the final movie in the trilogy Look Who's Talking Now (1993). Have a great week everyone and continue to stay safe. The eternal dragon Shenron (or Shen Long, depending on who you ask) finally appears and is ready to grant that wish. Is it going to be the child Emperor Pilaf or a member of the Ball Brigade? We’ll never tell. Jk we tell you a bunch of times. "MEETING (JOHN) MAYER" John Mayer’s body may be a wonderland, but meeting him certainly was not…Let me back up. First, meet Kelsey Cook. Kelsey is the daughter of an International Yo-Yo Champion and a Professional Foosball player. Yes, those are real things. She’s also an up-and-coming comedian and Youtube make-up guru that is based in the beautiful city of Los Angeles. You’ve probably seen Kelsey doing stand up on one of the numerous television shows like FOX TV’s Laughs, Uproarious on FUSE, or Live at Gotham. Right now, she is the opening act for veteran comedian Jim Norton across the US on his “Mouthful Of Shame” tour. While on tour with Norton, Kelsey found herself at a swanky Hollywood after-party packed with celebrities and comedians. You name it, they were there. Louie Anderson, Bob Saget, Jeff Ross, Gilbert Godfrey, Melissa Rivers — and squeezed into a corner booth surrounded by professionally funny people was the man, the myth, the legend, and Kelsey’s ultimate fantasy, John Mayer. “John Mayer is one of those artist who every album they put out, it like correlated to abreak up in your life. Ya know, you listen to the lyrics like – ‘This is about me, ME and TIM!!’ – Tears streaming down your face.” The night went on, drinks were had. Stories were shared, and Kelsey returned to her hotel room later, where her brain then began to head into overdrive. She couldn’t shake the thought of what just happened. Then she realized that all of those after party guests were not only staying at the same hotel, but They were all staying on the same floor as well. That’s when her she went into full-on fangirl mode. She started playing out fantasies from the comfort of her own bed. “What if I put a dress on and go back downstairs? I could fix my make up and go down for a drink. I wonder if he’s still awake? Maybe I’ll roam the halls for a bit until he comes up to his room…” Kelsey has still never got another shot at meeting Mayer… and maybe she never will. Life doesn’t owe any of us anything. It doesn’t matter how much you want something to happen, it doesn’t guarantee that it will. However, I felt bad for Kelsey. I wanted to help. So I asked her to write a missed connection for Mr. Mayer in hopes that maybe he would read it, and give her a second shot at introducing herself. The way she always dreamed it would happen. Less denim, and more conversation. So at the end of this episode, Kelsey writes John a Craigslist Missed Connections Ad. Enjoy.
