A Note from Jacob: If you or someone you know are experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 988. It was an honor to welcome award-winning actress and singer Lenore Zann to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. A ground-breaking artist and political trailblazer, Lenore Zann's explosive career has spanned the globe with iconic performances and strong political stances. Thanks to her beloved portrayal of Rogue (the superhero fittingly recognized as “the strongest woman in the Universe”) in X-Men: The Animated Series and Marvel Studio's X-Men '97, as well as her roles as Tigra in The Avengers: United They Stand, Chiriko in Fushigi Yûgi, and Star Catcher in My Little Pony. Lenore Zann has become the voice of an entire generation. Born in Sydney, Australia, she moved to Canada with her teacher parents at the age of eight. With a natural talent for performance, Lenore Zann burst onto the entertainment scene at just nineteen with her haunting portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in the rock opera Hey Marilyn! At twenty-six, she won Canada's national ACTRA Award for Best Actor in a Radio Drama for her performance as Mary Snow in CBC Radio's Salt Water Moon by David French. At thirty, producers in New York sponsored her to play Candy in Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love by Brad Fraser, first at the Hampstead Theatre in Chicago, followed by an off-Broadway run at the Orpheum Theatre. She followed this by writing and performing her first play, The Marilyn Tapes, first at Don't Tell Mama's Cabaret and another off-Broadway run at The Blue Heron Theatre. With hundreds of credits in TV, film, theater, radio, animation, and interactive games, she has electrified audiences with her performances. Fans tell her she has empowered them in their own lives. Now, the magical wings of Disney have helped Lenore Zann soar to new heights of fame. Fans and critics alike have hailed her stunning performance in X-Men '97 as Emmy-worthy with both the show and Lenore garnering numerous award nominations, including a Primetime Emmy nomination for Best Animated Production. An album of songs and several feature film and TV roles are currently in the works. A Rogue's Tale is her first book. Lenore also received the 2024 King Charles III Coronation Medal for outstanding community service, the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award for Service to Community and Country, the ACTRA Award for Best Actor, and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to Arts and Culture. She supports organizations such as the Terry Fox Foundation, The Sick Kids Foundation, and St. Jude. On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Lenore Zann spoke about returning to the X-Men universe for Disney+'s X-Men '97, portraying Marilyn Monroe and writing A Rogue's Tale.Let's connect on social media: A) BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/jacobelyachar.bsky.socialB) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/JacobElyachar/C) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jacobelyachar/D) Threads: https://www.threads.net/@jacobelyacharE) Twitter (X): https://x.com/JacobElyacharF) YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@JacobElyacharBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/jake-s-take-with-jacob-elyachar--4112003/support.
We finish up the good tie in comic to the bad Avengers cartoon, where we see Dr. Doom and Jason's favorite villainous punching bag, the Collector!
Back in the 1990's, Fox Kids decided to follow up their successful (and good) X-Men and Spider-Man cartoons with an Avengers one. It was...not as successful. However, the comic tie in is actually good and we discuss the first half of that series in this episode!
The Avengers: United They Stand. Is it the forgotten MCU show? He's the voice of Hawkeye in Avengers: United They Stand, Jadeite and Wiseman in Sailor Moon, Gambit and Logan in the X-Men video games, and much more. But he's best known for being the third person to voice Tony The Tiger, as well as the second person to voice Gambit in X-Men: The Animated Series. We welcome actor and musician Tony Daniels to the show to talk about how he got started in the entertainment industry, joining his first band and touring at 11 years old, the amazing voices and dialects he's able to do, some of the amazing people he's worked with, and more. Professor X and DOCTOR STRANGE 2 | INTERVIEW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jIJ5g8c-OQ On Jake's Takes, Stewart was asked about the recent Multiverse of Madness trailer. "Well, I had my phone turned off as it happened, so I didn't hear anything," he said. "It wasn't until the next morning when I woke up and looked at my phone and found that I had been bombarded with responses and that my PR people had sent me reactions that they had detailed and passed onto me… I actually didn't recognize my own voice, it sounded different. Whether I had a cold or something at the time, I don't know. But I was astonished, and all they saw was the back of my shoulder, and I think my earlobe, nothing else. There would have been so many connections made. But, uh, it pleased me." Join Scott and Hamish as they continue their look at the Marvel animated series of the 90s and watch an episode of what some call the worst Marvel cartoon ever made: “Avengers: United They Stand”. Imagine if The Avengers we’re saving the world in the future, and had to wear hideous transforming robot suits of armor. Oh, and also Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor aren’t even on the team. Who would lead the team, then? Why, none other than Ant-Man! The fun-loving Scott Lang Ant-Man? No, the perpetually angry and insecure Hank Pym Ant-Man! And it just keeps getting better from there! Listen as they breakdown the episode “Command Decision”, a very special story where Captain America randomly shows up to help the Avengers fight Baron Zemo and his “Masters of Evil”. They’ll discuss the making of this series, how closely connected it is to the rest of the Marvel animated series of the 1990s, and why it pales in comparison to the shows that came before it. They’ll also detail the origins of the characters in the comics, and talk about why this show was little more than a half-hour commercial for a new line of action figures. So put on your futuristic armor, and grab a hot cup of coffee, because you’re gonna need it! Hey! Where’s that coffee?! In episode 85 ( Season 2, Episode 35) I interviewed Voice Actress Linda Ballantyne who is the voice of the third Sailormoon. In this interview we talk about how she got into voice acting, her roles in Sailormoon as Serena/ Sailormoon, Wasp in Avengers: United They Stand, Maki Aikawa from Air Master, Magnolia from George of the Jungle, and as Wicked from Cyberchase. All throughout the interview we talk about how people can become involved in voice acting through auditioning and finding the voice of a character.
This is it! It's been a pretty amazing journey with y'all, but we are officially out of X-Men TAS episodes. We're going out on a bang, though, because these two episodes are EXTREMELY GOOD. Or at least EXTREMELY OKAY. Alright, well, one of them explains that Jack the Ripper was harvesting mutant genes for Mr. Sinister and the other one has penis houses, so maybe they're just EXTREMELY NORMAL XMEN TAS EPISODES. Don't worry folks, we're not going anywhere. We'll be back in two weeks covering X-Men First Class, then back with our feedback episode after that. Then: we're gonna start covering more 90s Marvel Cartoons, starting with the Spiderman episodes that the X-Men appear on, then onto Avengers: United They Stand. It's gonna be fun, so stick with us.
or "Walk On The Spidercide!" In the penultimate part of our animated retrospective, the dawn of a new millennium brings a new beginning for Marvel's most-animated mutants, and a mixed bag for everyone else, as we enter THE WB YEARS. From 2001-2009, hear all about the second Spider-Man show to avoid Spider-Man at all costs, the most un-fantastic Reed Richards possible, SURPRISE Gammazons, and quite possibly the best superhero cartoon ever made (and it's not the one you're thinking of) . How did Avengers: United They Stand accidentally SAVE Marvel animation? What incredible plans were in store for the next season of Spectacular Spider-Man?
