Today, we're speaking with Sophie Purdom, Managing Partner of Planeteer Capital. After co-creating CTVC with Kim Zou, the climate deals and deep-dives newsletter that has become canon in climate, with 75k+ readers, Sophie announced Planeteer Capital. (We discussed on the pod) They are going full speed with their investing thesis, investing in companies at the incorporation stage. Something they have been able to do well, given the history and network that Sophie has. Aside from teasing the future of Planeteer and discussing their unique advantage, Sophie gave us some insights on where the market is now. One thing that surprised us is how, despite all the negative news, more deals are being done year over year than in years past. Sophie shares the 4 types of climate tech founders, what they look for picking the right team, and core things to get right when navigating the climate capital stack. Escaping the underworld may not sound like a marketing strategy until you look at how Hades turned it into a blueprint for success.Developed by indie studio Supergiant Games, Hades isn't just a video game, it's a critically acclaimed masterpiece thanks to its iterative development, rich storytelling, and a fanbase that helped shape the game in real time. In this episode, we dive into the lessons marketers can learn from this roguelike phenomenon with special guest Zoe Hawkins, Director, Content Marketing & Integrated Campaign Strategy at Sumo Logic.Together, we explore what B2B marketers can learn from fearless experimentation, community co-creation, and crafting content your audience can't help but share.About our guest, Zoe HawkinsZoe Hawkins is a former video game and tech journalist turned content marketer. She has over a decade of professional experience turning technical understanding into fluent communication. Working with a range of B2B tech companies, Zoe has helped create value across marketing and strategy. She also serves as co-lead for Sumo Logic's sustainability-focused ERG, the Planeteers. When not working, Zoe is usually absorbed in speculative fiction – video games, books, or streaming media. She's a mom to two cats and a grade-school-aged daughter, living with her husband in perpetually sunny Arizona. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Hades:Experimentation is the only way forward. In Hades, dying isn't a setback; it's part of the process. Zoe says, “You keep experimenting and you're gonna fail. And that's okay... Each time you learn and you grow and you do it better.” For marketers, it's a reminder that campaigns don't need to be perfect out of the gate. Failure isn't fatal. Failure is how you find what works.Build content with your community, not just for them. Supergiant launched Hades in early access, inviting players to shape the game as it evolved. Zoe explains, “They give feedback. It's almost like a co-design, co-development process with your fans.” B2B marketers can do the same by involving their audience early, whether through feedback loops, pilots, or beta content. Let your audience help build what they want. It not only strengthens relationships, but it also keeps them excited about what's coming next.Create content that people want to share. Hades isn't just a game people play, it's one they rave about. Zoe asks, “How do you make it that people are actually happy to use your product and excited to use it… not just customer loyalty, but advocacy? They wanna tell other people, ‘you will not believe how cool this thing is'.” That's exactly what Hades achieves through intentional design, standout storytelling, and undeniable personality. Marketers should aim for the same. Treat your content the way Hades treats gameplay, and your audience won't just consume it, they'll spread it.Quotes*“ You keep experimenting, and you're gonna fail. And that's okay. If I think about it, you come into a new team or you come into a new product launch or you come into a new organization, whatever it might be. And you think you know how to play the game, you think you know what it takes to succeed, to beat the boss, whatever that is. And you do the run according to the way that you've done it, maybe in other roles or other companies, and you die, you fail. It doesn't necessarily go a hundred percent to plan, and that's okay. And then you get to restart with a new weapon, a new strategy, a new approach, whatever that might be, and pull it back together. Bring it back in to say, ‘okay, let's, let's try it again. Let's run it again and see if we're successful this time.' And that just feels so liberating and then each time you learn and you grow and you do it better.”*“ I love the idea that they only make one game at a time, that they're so focused, and it comes through in the work. It's so polished, it's so well made, and clearly made with love, that transfers to me. And I think if we tie it back to that B2B marketing, I think about working in tech, working in SaaS, how do you give that moment of delight where it's not just like, ‘oh my gosh, your company saved me this amount of money or whatever, or this tool is worthwhile for me.' But how do you make it that people are actually happy to use your product and excited to use it, or have that sense of not just customer loyalty, but advocacy. They wanna tell other people, ‘you will not believe how cool this thing is.'”*“ One of my favorite kinds of content to make is case studies because we get to make our customer shine and tell their story… I know our story backwards and forward. What's your story? Why are you winning with this? Why are you succeeding with this? And being able to tell something cool that they figured out, a way they're using our product that we didn't even think about that's interesting or cool.”*“ Not being afraid to experiment, not being afraid to fail, I think, is such an important marketing lesson, because you're gonna have some risks that are gonna be great, and you're gonna take some risks that are gonna just completely flop. And that's okay. That's how we learn. That's how we try new things.”Time Stamps[0:55] Meet Zoe Hawkins, Director, Content Marketing & Integrated Campaign Strategy at Sumo Logic[02:20] Why Hades?[03:08] The Role of Director of Content Marketing and Integrated Campaigns at Sumo Logic[03:54] Origins of Hades[15:29] B2B Marketing Lessons from Hades[44:32] Importance of Humor in Branding and Content Strategy[49:47] Versatility of Video Content[54:11] Final Thoughts and TakeawaysLinksConnect with Zoe on LinkedInLearn more about Sumo LogicAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. Toxic Crusaders is a 1991 animated series aimed at children, loosely based on The Toxic Avenger films.[1] It features Toxie, the lead character of the films, leading a group of misfit superheroes who combat pollution. This followed a trend of environmentally considerate cartoons and comics of the time,[2] including Captain Planet and the Planeteers, Swamp Thing, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures, as well as cartoons based on R-rated proterties like RoboCop and Police Academy. As this incarnation was aimed at children, Toxic Crusaders is considerably tamer than the edgy films it was based on (although it nevertheless contained many adult-oriented jokes that would go over most children's heads).[3]

Ben and Zane didn't have a clue why they were recruited to handle this oil spill, but they knew who to bring in: Ian. He came on board and told them that what they really needed was a guy by the name of Captain Planet. They brought in Gaia to give them a couple power rings, then got the last ones by some unsavory methods, but eventually they were able to summon Captain Planet. He took one look at the problem, told them that “The Power is Yours,” and disappeared. They took the L and hoped that Mother Nature could take one more for the team. * They didn't bother copyrighting “Duke Nukem” * Ted Turner: the least bad billionaire? * The Power of Attorney is Yours * Black Dynamite * “Dune Sting Underwear” Safesearch OFF * Environmentalists vs Captain Planet * Environmentalists, Nuclear Power, and Politics: IT'S COMPLICATED * RIP Lance Reddick * Dan Harmon didn't like Vindicators * I am only doing a cursory look-up of Environmental Sabotage and Eco-terrorism * East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment * Wizard People Dear Reader Uncle Porkflaps * Soup on Paintings vs. Bank Chainings * Mona Lisa smaller than you think * Energy Consumption of Bitcoin * Gas stove culture war bullshit
KIFF is a new animated buddy-comedy about an optimistic squirrel of the same name (voiced by Kimiko Glenn) and her chill bunny bestie Barry (voiced by H Michael Croner). From creators and executive producers Lucy Heavens and Nic Smal, Kiff follows Kiff and Barry as they navigate school, relationships and their often-eccentric community in Table Town, a world where animals and magical oddballs tackle day-to-day life together. In addition to Kimiko Glenn and H Michael Croner as Kiff and Barry, respectively, the series features Lauren Ash and James Monroe Iglehart (as Kiff's parents), Rhys Darby, Kate Flannery, and Eugene Cordero. Inspired by the people and places Heavens and Smal experienced when they were growing up in Cape Town, South Africa, each half-hour episode, comprised of two 11-minute stories, will include a new original song. The creative team also includes Emmy® Award-winning Kent Osborne ("Phineas and Ferb" and "Adventure Time"), who will serve as co-producer and story editor, and Winnie Chaffee ("Captain Planet and the Planeteers") as producer. "Kiff" is produced by Titmouse, the Emmy Award-winning animation production company, in association with Disney Channel.
This week's show sees the Dads in the swanky new surroundings of Project 52, with dreamboat/heart-throb Cris replacing that other fella who used to join us sometimes. The old guy, can't remember his name. Whilst he may lack his own offspring, and let's face it one of us more than compensates for him, Cris is a fan of the fissure so we break him in roughly by compiling a list of the Top 5 Cracks in movies.THE GREATEST SHOWMAN was a 2017 musical smash hit telling the story of P.T. Barnum, visionary showman and entrepreneur, who rose from poverty to create a worldwide sensation with his circus. Both my kids adored the film and soundtrack and I have too many happy memories intertwined with it to keep any kind of critical distance, so I only see the energetic choreography, dynamic camera work, old school charm of Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron and inspiring themes of embracing diversity, the pursuit of your dreams, overcoming adversity, the power of imagination and self-acceptance. Bad Dad Peter agrees, sharing a personal connection to the magic of the film with one of his many children whilst some of the Dads saw this as a problematic example of historical whitewashing, with the at times ruthless huckster Barnum reframed as a kindly progressive, completed by below average songs. So a strong recommend from everyone then. This week's kids review goes to show that a strong theme tune doesn't compensate for crude character designs, repetitive action sequences, one-dimensional characters based on lazy stereotypes and heavy-handed environmental messaging in 90's animated tv series CAPTAIN PLANET AND THE PLANETEERS, with the green-mulleted hero portrayed as a preachy, sanctimonious supermansplainer with all the charm and charisma of a compost heap. Well intentioned and with a cast including former Trekkers Whoopi Goldberg and LeVar Burton, its depressingly relevant themes can't excuse the fact that this light entertainment was light on any actual entertainment and therefore more likely to inspire environmental apathy than activism. We love to hear from our listeners! By which I mean we tolerate it. If it hasn't been completely destroyed yet you can usually find us on twitter @dads_film, on Facebook Bad Dads Film Review, on email at baddadsjsy@gmail.com or on our website baddadsfilm.com. Produced in about 1950 by Palladium Radio Productions, "The Planet Man" is the golly-gee-whillikers saga of Dantro, an intergalactic troubleshooter for an organization known as the League of Planets - "the law enforcement body for peace and justice in the celestial world." (Think of him as an outer-space version of Marshal Matt Dillon - "It's a chancy job, and it makes a [planet] man watchful...") With their center of operations situated on Planeria Rex, "the capital of the planets," the League sends their water-carrier Dantro out into the celestial world to maintain law and order "whenever danger threatens the universe." Dantro is assisted in his quest for law-and-order by the members of Earth's first rocket expedition: Dr. John Darrow, his daughter Pat, and engineer Slats, who are rescued by the Planet Man before their rocket comes perilously close to crashing into the moon. (The explanation for this is that Darrow and crew took on a pair of stowaways before blast-off, namely his nephew Billy and niece Jane - which makes a listener wonder why the heck they weren't in school.) These five individuals join forces with the Planet Man to defeat evildoers like Marston, the ruler of Mars who possesses an insatiable appetite for interplanetary domination. Rip Foster Rides the Gray Planet by Harold L. Goodwin audiobook. "Foster, Lieutenant, R. I. P.," blared the voice horn, and five minutes later Rip Foster was off into space on an assignment more exciting than any he had ever imagined. He could hardly believe his ears. Could a green young Planeteer, just through his training, possibly carry out orders like these? Sunny space, what a trick it would be! From the moment Rip boards the space ship Scorpius there is a thrill a minute. He and his nine daring Planeteers must cope with the merciless hazing of the spacemen commanding the ship, and they must outwit the desperate Connies, who threaten to plunge all of space into war. There are a thousand dangers to be faced in high vacuum—and all of this while carrying out an assignment that will take every reader's breath away.
First things first: 1993. Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania Dan was daar deze week ook de nieuwe Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer. Gaat Ant-Man het overleven? SEGMENT 1 Show: Captain Planet and the Planeteers Episode: A Hero for Earth (Season 1 | Episode 1) Premiere Date: 09/15/1990 Story: The Spirit of Earth, Gaia, is woken from a century-long sleep at Hope Island to discover that Earth is dying because of humans' carelessness in deforestation, pollution, over-hunting, and especially now by oil-driller Hoggish Greedly and his henchman Rigger, who threaten all life on a sea coast with their work. She sends a quintet of rings out to five youths around the world: Kwame, an African who tries to preserve plants, is given the Power of Earth to create mountains and earthquakes. Gi, a Malaysian with an affinity for sea life, is given the Power of Water to control any source of it nearby. Wheeler, a wild but compassionate American, is given the Power of Fire to create flame and control dangerous blazes. Linka, a Soviet bird-lover, is given the Power of Wind to create twisters and move objects. Ma-Ti, a Kayapo-Spaniard animal-lover, is given the Power of Heart to bring out kindness in others and communicate mentally with any human or animal. The newly-appointed Planeteers learn of these powers at Hope Island before setting out to do battle with Greedly. Once there, they need help, so join their powers, which brings them a strong superhero who can transform to anything natural and whose sole weakness is too much direct pollution: Captain Planet. Happy Spring to you!Hello, Planeteers! This is Pollinator season, and this episode is all about Butterflies! I had the opportunity to talk to Steve LaWarre, who is the Vice President of Horticulture at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park here in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He talks to us about the Butterflies Are Blooming exhibition which runs from March 1st to April 30th, and gives us some great ideas about why butterflies are important and what we can do to help them in our own backyards.Chuck Darwin gives us a new word with TWO ways to pronounce it, Tito gives us some weird (and gross) facts about butterflies, and Captain Jack tells us how to tell if we're looking at a butterfly or a Moth. There's a PDF to go along with the episode that has butterfly pictures, vocabulary words, comparison charts, activities, a reading list, a complete lesson plan, and a product list for projects. Professor X and DOCTOR STRANGE 2 | INTERVIEW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jIJ5g8c-OQ On Jake's Takes, Stewart was asked about the recent Multiverse of Madness trailer. "Well, I had my phone turned off as it happened, so I didn't hear anything," he said. "It wasn't until the next morning when I woke up and looked at my phone and found that I had been bombarded with responses and that my PR people had sent me reactions that they had detailed and passed onto me… I actually didn't recognize my own voice, it sounded different. Whether I had a cold or something at the time, I don't know. But I was astonished, and all they saw was the back of my shoulder, and I think my earlobe, nothing else. There would have been so many connections made. But, uh, it pleased me." #302 - Captain Planet and the Planeteers #1 #globalcomicsmonth I'm sure the reasons behind that hashtag are a bit different than what I am presenting here, but I'd like to at least provide some content. So the first thing I thought of was a team of kids that came together from different nations to save the Earth (actually, I thought of the Harlem Globetrotters, but I have no access to that 1972 Dell series). And with their powers combined they can summon a champion to fight on the side of our planet... CAPTAIN PLANET!!!
