In this episode I was totally humbled to be able to talk to such a great guest in the form of Chris Stringer. Chris is the lead in Human Origins and the National History Museum here in the UK, has an extraordinarily comprehensive background in Prehistory and has published more books then I have done podcast episodes. Excitingly, as we were emailing back and forth to arrange a time to record, Chris let slip that a press embargo on some very current and ground breaking research was being lifted that day at 4pm. We recorded at 3, so technically....we had it first! Admittedly it has now been out for a few days now the podcast is being released....but still: A bunch of apes exclusive, revealing how the earliest Homo-sapiens in Europe were breeding with Neanderthals 45000 years ago AND, some strong hints that it may have been a simple case of interbreeding and absorbing the Neanderthal genome in certain areas of Europe that led to their mysterious demise. Before Chris got into this, I spoke to him about his role at the museum and some of the changes of perspective he has had in his vast career so far, as well as the trials and tribulations of sharing prehistory over twitter and being a social media presence. We discussed the out of Africa vs multi-regional hypothesis, and the origins of our closest cousins The Neanderthals. There was so much incredible info packed into this episode I have had to listen back twice to even begin to absorb it all. Hopefully you will do the same and enjoy listening to Chris as much as I did. You can find Chris on twitter @ChrisStringer65 where he regularly shares fascinating articles, news and his own perspectives. For any of his many publications, head to any good online book store.

I just want to send out some big props to my man Chris! Before Chris joined up with Forged FATHER, it wasn’t like he was sitting around doing nothing. He wasn’t laying around on the couch being lazy and “unmotivated”. He wasn’t eating a bunch of crap and stuffing his face with food. Chris was putting in the work and pushing hard, but despite being consistent with his training and “eating clean”, Chris just wasn’t seeing the results he had wanted. I know a lot of fellow DRIVEN DADS out there can relate to this. It's frustrating when you’re putting in the work but the RESULTS aren’t showing in return. For Chris, even though he was being consistent with his workouts and strict diet… His weight wasn’t changing. His body composition wasn’t changing. His energy still wasn’t the greatest. He wasn’t sleeping all that great at night. His performance within workouts wasn't the greatest. GOOD NEWS IS… When Chris joined up with the Forged FATHER, we were able to get him dialed in. We got him on a more efficient and effective training program. One that didn’t require him to train 2+ hours at a time, nor require access to a full-fledged gym. He only needed to train for only 30-45 mins, 4-5 days/week. Instead of trying to “eat 100% clean”, we got him to dial in on his MACROS and his overall food quantity. In turn, his energy went up, plus his performance and intensity within his workouts increased. Fast forward a few months ahead, Chris is in a completely different place. He’s dropped 20 pounds of unwanted weight and he’s now LEANER (despite now eating MORE food he’s ever eaten before on a daily basis). His energy is up and he’s sleeping better. He’s also more present and spending higher quality time with his family, even after he gets home working long hours as a LEO. Chris didn’t do anything crazy… He just committed to the Forged PATH and the rest has taken care of itself. =========== The Forged FATHER PROJECT (Coaching) If you're an EX-ATHLETE DAD and you're ready to lose the extra 20-30+ lbs so you can get back to looking and feeling great, let's step up and make some changes. ==> CLICK HERE TO APPLY For The Forged FATHER Project

In this episode, Chris will talk about the importance of the “Why” in business and how it keeps an entrepreneur moving forward. He will demonstrate the power of the why by sharing the story of how John introduced him to martial arts, and how martial arts eventually led them into yoga. Before Chris got into martial arts, John would try to convince him to join him for training (John was practicing martial arts for two years before Chris joined), but Chris wasn’t into it until one day when he was at a party and a fight broke out. Someone in the crowd sucker punched him in the jaw and dared him to fight back, but Chris just stood there with tears in his eyes, and walked away. He went home from that party feeling so demoralized and humiliated, and that was the point where he decided to go into martial arts.John and Chris eventually started teaching martial arts, but their core goal (their why) was not to create fighters, but rather to create empowered, confident human beings who could feel better in their bodies, hearts, and minds. They stayed true to that goal all through their martial arts teaching, but at some point they became physically overwhelmed because they were always all beat up and bruised. That’s when they discovered yoga and saw how helpful it was in healing themselves. Better yet, they realized how powerful yoga would be if they taught it to others, mainly because it would enable them to stick to their original goal of empowering others. From there, the rest as they say, was history. They have been teaching yoga for over 17 years, and they still keep to their why. That “Why” is what keeps them focused on helping people and growing their business no matter what challenges they go through as yoga entrepreneurs. Chris will dive deeper into that to teach us more about the value of having that why, so we can be motivated to apply it in our own yoga businesses. Enjoy!Key Points Discussed:The beginning of what eventually led Chris to yoga (01:28)Creating empowered, confident human beings who felt better in their bodies, hearts and minds (04:47)The importance of the Why (06:28)Starting a daily practice of remembering your bigger why in life (11:38)The power of doing the work you don’t want to do (15:46)--If you haven't already, be sure to join our Facebook Group! After a brief music chat, Seth and Rob sit down with Andy Falco and Chris Pandolfi of the Infamous Stringdusters before The Dusters’ Atlanta show this past fall and confer on this fantastic band. Since this interview, The Stringdusters band has been nominated for a Grammy for its Laws Of Gravity release - which is also the initial topic here. The band talks about this record represents a back-to-the-core coalescence of the its previous releases and approaches. They discuss their thoughts behind the choice to wait for new songs to be released before performing them. Other decision points are analyzed, like those behind sharing songwriting credits amongst each other and efforts to make sure each member’s musical voice is heard equally on each release and/or performance. The hosts and guests acknowledge the varying parameters of bluegrass, and the extent to which The Stringdusters feel compelled to adhere to them. We learn the importance of capturing the “expression factor” of each player, and how the lyrical and historical context of each song ultimately informs the performance. A discussion about the band’s Ladies and Gentlemen release leads to Nicki Bluhm. Nicki hooked the band up with Ryan Adams, and these two Dusters share some Ryan stories including how they prepared for the tour, their first performance with him, a spontaneous Black Sabbath cover, how Ryan “went to bat” for them on Colbert and some funny Ryan crowd interactions. Before Chris had to depart he discussed his thoughts behind his famous “Bluegrass Manifesto,” and how it attracted the ire of many bluegrass purists. Chris acknowledges that he was inspired by Bela Fleck to play bluegrass in the first place, and he denies that the “infamous” part of the band’s name was by design. When the focus shifts to Andy, we find out that he was in many New York bands including the Water Street Blues Band. He talks about how David Bromberg and Buddy Merriam stoked the fire of his interest in acoustic music, and how Merriam essentially taught him how to play bluegrass. We find out how Andy ended up meeting the Stringdusters’ guys and how he found his way in the band. Andy also shares some of his Stringdusters experiences, including the preparation for and execution of their Lockn set with Page McConnell and Phil Lesh. Then Seth and Rob take us home with a conversation of their own which starts with a discussion of the interview and then many music topics including the Dead and Company show the hosts had seen together just before completing this episode. wTnS is Produced by Rob Turner and Engineered by Josh Thane of Wonder Dog Sounds Studio. www.joshthaneproductions.com www.wonderdogsounds.com Inside Out w/ Turner and Seth: insideoutwtns.com Twitter: @InsideoutWTNS Instagram: www.instagram.com/insideoutwtns Facebook: www.facebook.com/insideoutwTnS See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Are you flourishing or floundering?  Whether you go to church or not, this story will resonate with you. Chris Williams is the Pastor of Fellowship Greenwood in Greenwood, Missouri.   The Fellowship has an amazing passion to impact their local community for Jesus Christ and they are on mission, living for the good of the community, for the glory of Christ, and the salvation of souls. During his itinerant days, Chris shared the hope of Jesus with over 900,000 moms, dads and children in 750 churches. Through that journey, he witnessed 15,000 first time decisions for Jesus Christ. But the reach and impact of Chris’ ministry hasn’t always been that extensive. Before Chris discovered God’s divine design for his life, he had struggles.  In his early 20’s, floundering and pursuing the allurement of this life, Chris found himself at a point of confusion with many unanswered questions. Knowing there had to be more to life, Chris later renewed the relationship he had with Jesus Christ, a faith he had come to as a child. It’s never too late!  God is ready and waiting for you to turn to Him and open your eyes to the plans He has already in place for you.

So almost every time I see the word WONDER being taught to English students, the expression "I wonder if" is there. That would be equivalent to our "Será que..." I wonder if it's going to rain. I wonder if Brazil will ever win the World Cup again, and so on. The term "I wonder", however, is not our focus for this episode. Let's take a look at another very common way to use wonder. Let's say your friend Chris tells you that his brother bought a used car at Mike's Used Cars shop. You look at Chris and you say "I wonder why your brother did that... Mike's shop is the most expensive  place in the area to get a car." And then Chris goes on to explain to you that although Mike's cars are indeed expensive, their service is unbeatable. So when Chris tells you that, you say "Oh, ok. Now I get it." Now you understand why Chris' brother bought the car with Mike, even though Mike's cars are super expensive. Before Chris explained it to you, though... It was a mystery. "I wonder why Chris' brother would buy a car with Mike. They're so expensive!". Hmm, he bought a car from Mike... I wonder why...? You can basically use that for anything. Whenever you don't get why someone did something, or the reason why something is the way it is.  I wonder why they've changed their logo; I liked the old one. I wonder why "tanto faz" means "it doesn't matter." So now listen to this one: imagine you're throwing a party and you decide to hire a florist to decorate. Only, your friend Sally was planning on hiring the same florist for her wedding. In fact, she was the person who told you about the florist. She was very excited about having this person decorate the church, the reception ceremony... So she's very surprised when you tell her you hired this person to decorate your party, which is a week before her wedding. You can't see why that would be a problem, so when you realize Sally hasn't come to your party you're really surprised! The two of you are such good friends. You try to call her, and she doesn't pick up. You tell a mutual friend about what's going on, saying at the end "Not only has Sally missed my party but now she won't pick up the phone!" Your friend says "I wonder why...!" You look at her, puzzled, and she says "C'mon! You stole her florist one week before her wedding!" Oh. It all makes sense now. Sally's mad because you hired the same florist she wanted to hire. So when your friend says "I wonder why...!" she is being sarcastic, of course. Here's another example: your brother has an exam next week, but instead of spending most of his time preparing for the exam, he's really more interested in watching TV and playing videogames. Every time you walk past his bedroom, you notice he's... not studying. Later that week he tells you he failed the exam.  Your reaction is... "I wonder why." Obviously, you're being sarcastic. You know very well why he failed the exam. Tell me: how would you use "I wonder why" in your life? Please let me know in the comments when that happened and what it was about.
