I visited Victoria Falls, which dwarfs Niagara, the extraordinary Table Mountain, and several wildlife reserves including Kruger National Park. The jeep rides through the brush yielded close encounters with female lions shepherding their cubs, male lions sleeping off meals, a leopard in a tree crunching the skull of an impala, herds of piously maternal elephants — only one of which came close to charging us — and a dozen other species of predator or prey. The high point, I'll confess, was one wildlife encounter in particular: when a troop of baboons charged the outdoor diners at The Black Marlin in Cape Town, driving them to flee, so the apes could stuff their faces with pilfered pasta. Sadly, I was sitting inside, so all I could do was cheer the hairy creatures on from through the window. Privacy Note: On play, Google may track viewers. YouTube's Privacy Policy. The Book of Nature I hope that I'm sufficiently grateful for this encounter with the baroque, sublime abundance of biology that our planet is privileged to host — alone, so far as we know, among the billions of planets. Gratitude should be aimed at a giver, and it was reading the works of Discovery Institute authors that made this easier for me. I could wonder at the tiny penguins that somehow survive in the Mediterranean climate near the Cape of Good Hope, or the birds that live symbiotically with wildebeests by feeding on bloodsucking insects, without the deflating idea lurking in the back of my mind, “This all the result of blind chance and iron necessity, with no crafting intelligence behind it.” Instead, I saw works of art, and found myself thanking the Artist. I was reading the Book of Nature, and seeing in it glimmers of divine action, intention, and generosity — as “natural philosophers” did from Kepler and Newton to Pasteur and Mendel. Back when I unreflectively adhered to the theistic (really deistic) evolution that's preached in most Christian pulpits, I accepted the notion that God was somehow behind every aspect of the cosmos. If pressed, I would have said that God had “guided” or “instigated” the emergence of extraordinary creatures like the zebras that stared at our jeep, the elegant kudus that capered past us through the veldt, the wild dogs that seemed at once so alien and so familiar that it was tempting to hop out and try petting them. (“Do not attempt this,” I was informed by our solemn African guide.) But all of life was at best a convoluted Rube Goldberg contraption, which Someone had set in motion then stepped away to observe. God even had humans in mind — deciding, for some reason, to slowly evolve His earthly image through a long chain of predecessor species, until at some point He chose to implant both rationality and immortal souls in creatures who'd mutated in and then emerged from the womb of an animal. I used to speculate about how that allegedly worked, and how I could reconcile it in some fashion with the Genesis account of God making man directly from the dust of the earth, and woman from his side. I remember thinking, lamely, “Maybe they were identical twins … and He switched Eve's sex before the ape gave birth to them?” Then I stopped bothering, encouraged by modern priests who treat not just Genesis but most of the Old Testament as mostly wholesome mythology, akin to that found in Bulfinch or Edith Hamilton. Christianizing Darwinists Obeying the dictum of 19th-century “Higher Criticism,” Christianizing Darwinists aim to explain away every claim of miraculous action — from the direct creation of man to the parting of the Red Sea, from Jesus' virgin birth to even his Resurrection. I was taught in high school that the last, most crucial Christian miracle, amounted merely to the “ongoing presence” of Jesus in his apostles' hearts and minds. Big whoop. In that sense, Adolf Hitler is still sadly with us. (If you want an account of how and why biblical critics crafted such blinders, read Scott Hahn and Benjamin Wiker's magisterial Politicizing the Bible, which I edited for publication.) Priests, theologians, bishops and even (recently) popes have responded to the popular triumph of Darwinism by dismissing most of the events recounted in Genesis as purely allegorical and moral. Keen to avoid being tarred as “fundamentalists,” and encouraged by some cautious leeway granted to evolutionary thinking by popes such as Pius XII and John Paul II, most Catholics have eagerly accepted that Darwin's theories fully explain the emergence of every living species, even man. Otherwise-orthodox believers have made this intellectual concession, convinced that “the science” is irrefutable, so the theology must make room for it. But what if, in fact, the science is very shaky, and the implications for a Christian worldview profoundly toxic? Those are the questions asked and convincingly answered in a new book, Creation or Evolution? A Catholic Dilemma. It's written in an extremely engaging format — a series of questions posed by science journalist Steve Greene and answered by theologian Rev. Michael Chabarek, O.P. It was Chaberek's previous book, Aquinas and Evolution, that convinced me to take intelligent design seriously, and embark on the journey through the works of Stephen Meyer, Michael Behe, Douglas Axe, and many others — to my profound intellectual and spiritual enrichment. This new book is every bit the equal of Chaberek's earlier work. He lays out the serious evidential weaknesses in the Darwinist claim to have explained the appearance of human beings by incremental mutations from previous apelike species. (For much more detail than this book offers, see Science and Human Origins, from Discovery Institute Press, which Chaberek cites.) He explains how circular logic and wishful thinking pervade the claims of paleontologists to have discovered non-human ancestors for our species, with periodic claims to have found a “missing link” based on tiny bone fragments of indeterminate origin. False First Principles But Chaberek's main focus is not on empirical flaws or gaps in the Darwinist account. Instead, he focuses on the false first principles that motivate, even compel Darwinists to invent their “just so” stories in the first place. Here's a sample of the straightforward, plain-speaking way that the authors convey key philosophical issues: If man did not come from the ape, then how did he come into existence? First, let us consider whether sciences such as paleontology and genetics are actually capable of providing an answer to this question. If man came into existence naturally, then, yes, because science explains the workings of nature. But if man came into existence supernaturally, that is, by the action of divine power exceeding the power of nature, then science cannot explain the beginning of man. Therefore, whether science can provide an answer to this question does not depend on scientific research, but on the previously adopted religious or philosophical assumptions. Chabarek argues convincingly that secularist and materialist assumptions precede and determine the scientific work of Darwinists, essentially forcing them to deny evidence of design, and to make impossible claims for the creative power of mutations — despite the overwhelming odds against blind chance happening upon even a single useful new protein in the entire history of life on earth (as Douglas Axe showed in exhaustive experimental detail in his book, Undeniable). When such bias-inducing reductionist assumptions migrate from the research papers of laboratory scientists into the works of Christian leaders, the consequences are even more baleful, Chabarek warns. If such a central question as the origin of the only rational species, the “image of God,” is to be surgically excised from the domain of religious authority and turned over to materialist scientists, what is to stop that same debunking impulse from undermining every mystery of faith? Should we leave Sarah's miraculous conception of Isaac to the gynecologists, the parting of the Red Sea to the oceanographers, and the resurrection of Jesus to the biologists? That's the inexorable logic of Christians who cling to Darwinist explanations of the “descent of man” from ancestral apes. Far better, Chabarek advises, for Christians who accept a long series of miracles and mysteries as entailed in the redemption of humanity to also make room for the Bible's literal account of the miracle of his creation — from the dust of the earth, by the hand of God. The Church Of The Souls Evolution with The Reverend Blake Rubie (Ordained Minister) A Plea for Earth: Jesus, ET Intervention, Soul Evolution, and the Family of Creation A Prayerful Appeal in Uncertain Times In this episode of The Church of the Soul's Evolution, host Reverend Blake Rubie opens from San Antonio on June 27 with concern about the state of the world, end-times fears, war, and humanity's inability to police itself against tyrants and violence. He makes a direct plea to advanced extraterrestrial beings, saying he believes some may be listening, and asks them to help humanity if the planet is approaching a destructive turning point. Blake emphasizes that most people on Earth are good, family-oriented, loving, and desirous of raising children, living peacefully, and making the world better. Jesus, Miracles, and the Survival of Humanity Blake connects his plea for help to his Christian faith, saying that divine intervention has happened before through figures and events such as Moses, the Exodus, Jesus' birth, Jesus' miracles, the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. He states his belief that humanity would not be alive today without Jesus and praises Jesus for the miracles described in scripture, including turning water into wine, raising Lazarus, healing the sick, driving out demons, feeding thousands, walking on water, calming the storm, and rising from the dead. For Blake, these events are not fantasy but reality, and he contrasts them with modern entertainment that focuses on fantasy and violence. Advanced Worlds and Abduction to the Ninth Planet A major portion of the episode centers on Blake's favorite book, Abduction to the Ninth Planet, which he describes as the account of Michael Desmarquet, an Australian man allegedly taken by advanced extraterrestrials to a highly evolved planet. Blake summarizes the book's depiction of category-nine worlds as peaceful, pristine, harmonious civilizations where beings love one another, animals do not eat each other, and there is no war or pollution. He also discusses the book's descriptions of interdimensional travel, parallel universes, thought-powered movement, special spacecraft, and advanced beings who allegedly monitor Earth and intervene when appropriate. Earth History, Human Origins, and Interstellar Migration Blake then outlines the book's version of Earth history, including claims that the first human beings arrived on Earth about 1.5 million years ago from a planet called Bakaratini or Bakaratiny after their world began cooling. He says two races came first, one Asian and one Black, settling in regions that became Asia and Australia, with later migration, interbreeding, and the development of other peoples. He also discusses Atlantis, Lemuria, Hebrew origins, and the idea that some groups came from higher-evolutionary planets but suffered because they were living on a lower-evolutionary world. Blake presents these ideas as beliefs drawn from the book and from his own spiritual interpretation. The Creator, the Big Bang, and the Four Forces The sermon shifts into Blake's cosmology of creation. He describes the Creator as an infinite, intelligent, electric energy field that is both male and female, omniscient and omnipotent. According to Blake, the Creator visualized every detail of the universe before bringing it into being through the Big Bang. He describes four universal forces: one that created suns, planets, and moons; one that created plant and animal life; one that created sentient beings; and one that placed a spark of the Creator's light inside each soul. He uses this framework to remind listeners that every human being carries divinity and should be treated with love, respect, and dignity. Souls, Reincarnation, Guidance, and Accountability Blake emphasizes that all souls are part of one soul family and that no soul is inherently greater than another, even if some are older or more experienced through reincarnation. He compares older and younger souls to siblings in different grades at school, saying younger souls need guidance rather than condemnation. He urges listeners to pray, journal, seek forgiveness, repent for wrongdoing, and ask for guidance in order to stay aligned with righteousness. He also warns that life is uncertain, that tomorrow is not guaranteed, and that each person will one day face accountability for whether they fulfilled the spiritual plan they made before birth. Words, Co-Creation, and a Final Prayer Near the close, Blake teaches that words are powerful and that advanced souls may eventually become co-creator gods who learn to command cosmic forces through the right use of speech. He discusses soul mates, reincarnation, karmic debt, planetary graduation, and the choice between returning to sorrowful worlds of war and evolving toward higher worlds of love and harmony. He ends by quoting ideas from Black Sabbath's “War Pigs” to condemn political leaders and war-makers who send others to suffer. The episode closes with a prayer to the Creator, asking for love, blessing, protection, guidance, righteousness, and gratitude for the Creator's greatness and mercy.

What happens when a high-ranking church official discovers evidence of ancient aliens encoded into holy scripture? In this captivating episode, we interview Paul Wallis, a former Anglican Church Archdeacon who risked his theological reputation to expose a centuries-old Biblical Cover-Up. If you think the Book of Genesis is just a simple moral allegory, get ready to have your foundational worldview completely shattered. Through a careful examination of ancient languages, Wallis highlights how early editors deliberately mistranslated references to the Elohim. The original scriptures did not describe a spiritual sky-god, but rather powerful, tangible beings who arrived on Earth with advanced technologies. This stunning reality completely recontextualizes our understanding of UFOs and Aliens within the framework of modern faith. We explore the compelling insights from his acclaimed book, Escaping from Eden, which details how matching stories of extraterrestrial creation can be found in the sacred traditions of Mesoamerica, Africa, and ancient India. Why did ancient scribes censor our real history, and what are the deep psychological consequences of humanity forgetting its true origins? By reviewing older Sumerian Texts, we unlock the hidden blueprints of our species. This episode is packed with provocative questions that challenge the core doctrines of institutionalized religion. Are we living out an amnesic existence because our real creators left us with a coded message? Paul Wallis provides a refreshing, scholarly, and deeply mystical approach to recovering our lost cosmic history. Science is a very human enterprise, and very human problems can color scientific research as well as the narratives cast around findings and results. On this ID The Future, we're bringing you the first half of a conversation with Dr. Casey Luskin that originally aired on the Come Let Us Reason Together Podcast hosted by Lenny Esposito. Casey discusses the growing controversy surrounding Sahelanthropus tchadensis, a fossil often described as one of the earliest human ancestors. But what began as a celebrated evolutionary discovery has now sparked open disagreement among evolutionary scientists themselves. In this segment, Casey reviews the history of paleoanthropology, what the field is trying to prove about human origins, and how language, bias, politics, prestige, and funding pressure all play a part in how discoveries are framed and evidence is weighed. This is Part 1 of a two-part conversation. Source

Imagine a group of ancient humans, crafting stone tools at the dawn of humankind. What did these creatures look like? To find out, we can stare at the skulls in museums or glance at reconstructions made by paleo-artists. Not a bad start. But what if we move the lens and zoom into their surroundings? What was the scientific “Garden of Eden” like? Was it a lush forest, a dry savanna, or an icy cave? And what can the answer tell us about human nature more broadly?Denise Su is a world-leading expert on these questions. A paleoecologist at Arizona State University's Institute of Human Origins, she uses ever-more imaginative ways to get a glimpse into the nature and the weather that set the stage for the human story. In this episode, we focus on two kinds of “changes” in the ecology of human evolution: both the actual climate change that drummed the beat of human origins, and the theoretical changes in the views of scientists thinking about these topics. Indeed, this episode digs deep into one of the hotly contested questions about the reasons why humans evolved: "the savanna hypothesis".According to the savanna hypothesis, our naked, upright species evolved because African forests were shrinking and dry savannas emerged instead. Other apes stayed in the shrinking forests, but our brave ancestors took the shot, conquering the vast flatlands. As they did so, they started standing upright to better walk on the savanna and lost their fur, to sweat away the heat of the scorching sun. I have told versions of this story on the show, and so have many senior guests. Yet even a brief Google search will give you plenty of critics telling that the savanna hypothesis is nothing but a convenient myth. Articles by Denise Su are often included in the evidence. So what's going on? Listen to the episode to find out! Since 2011, the at-home DNA testing company 23andMe has invited its users to “celebrate your ancient DNA” with its Neanderthal report, which tells users whether their prehistoric genes predispose them to certain behaviors, like hoarding or not getting hangry. In the 1880s, Neanderthals were not being celebrated at all—they were depicted as little more than troglodytes with tools—and the 1980s weren't much better: rough hair, swarthy skin, dull eyes, jutting foreheads … an evolutionary dead end. Today, armed with recently decoded Neanderthal DNA, researchers are reconstructing these archaic people as lighter-skinned, blue-eyed, and blond. For historian Stefanos Geroulanos, however, this new account raises difficult questions. “Are Neanderthals now smart because they are no longer depicted as dark-skinned? Or, conversely, have they become blond and white because they are now believed to have been smart, able, quintessentially human?” Questions like these form the heart of his book, The Invention of Prehistory: Empire, Violence, and Our Obsession with Human Origins, which has just won Phi Beta Kappa's Ralph Waldo Emerson Book Award. Geroulanos contends that our claims about the deep past—whether made in 1726 or 2026—tell us more about the moment we propose them than anything else.Go beyond the episode:Stefanous Geroulanos's The Invention of Prehistory: Empire, Violence, and Our Obsession with Human OriginsListen to Geroulanos in conversation at the Phi Beta Kappa 2025 Book AwardsReconstructed ancient languages like Proto-Indo-European have been similarly weaponized for political ends, as Laura Spinney describes on an earlier episodeAnd our understanding of the more recent past—like Viking history, similarly prone—has been challenged by recent archaeological discoveries too, as Eleanor Barraclough explains in Embers of the HandsTune in every (other) week to catch interviews with the liveliest voices from literature, the arts, sciences, history, and public affairs; reports on cutting-edge works in progress; long-form narratives; and compelling excerpts from new books. Too Few Fossils, Too Many Agendas: The Hidden Politics Behind Human Origins A recent fossil discovery has exposed deep disagreements among evolutionary scientists over human origins. The division has prompted the question: Is paleoanthropology driven purely by evidence—or are incentives shaping the story of human evolution? In this episode, Lenny Esposito is joined by Dr. Casey Luskin to examine the growing controversy surrounding Sahelanthropus tchadensis, a fossil often described as one of the earliest human ancestors. What began as a celebrated evolutionary discovery has now sparked open disagreement among evolutionary scientists themselves.
In this deep, wide-ranging conversation, Paul Wallis explores one of the most mysterious aspects of our ancient past: stone circles, megalithic structures, and the possibility of lost sound-based technologies. We examine anomalous stone formations across Africa and the world, including South Africa's vast stone circle networks, and why their size, placement, and vibrational properties defy conventional explanations. Paul shares insights into research suggesting these structures may have functioned as part of an advanced technological grid—possibly linked to prehistoric gold mining, sonic resonance, and paleo-contact scenarios involving non-human intelligence. The discussion also weaves in biblical narratives, ancient memory, human enslavement myths, and why so many ancestral texts hint at a forgotten technological civilization. This episode challenges mainstream archaeology and invites viewers to reconsider what ancient humanity really knew—and who may have been here before us. The Phi Beta Kappa Book Awards are presented annually to three outstanding scholarly books published in the United States. The 2025 winners are Charles King for his book Every Valley: The Desperate Lives and Troubled Times That Made Handel's Messiah; Stefanos Geroulanos for his book The Invention of Prehistory: Empire, Violence, and Our Obsession with Human Origins; and Ayana Elizabeth Johnson for her book What If We Get It Right? Visions of Climate Futures. This year, the Book Awards Dinner was held in person in Williamsburg, VA in December 2025, where two of the three scholars discussed the impetus behind their books and the motives that keep them sleepless—and engaged—in liberal arts and sciences. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.

If you could stretch out the DNA in just one of your cells, it would be six feet long! And yet, it fits inside a space smaller than the tip of a needle and knows exactly what to do to make you… you! The secret is how it’s folded. Inside each cell, DNA is arranged in a stunning three-dimensional structure that helps control how life functions. This intricate 3-D design determines how genes are expressed, how the body adapts to change, and what makes each person unique. This level of precision and order doesn’t happen by accident. It points to a Creator whose design reaches deep into every detail of life. Join us for a lively, curiosity-filled deep dive with author and researcher Cat Bohannon, whose award-winning book Eve reframes 200 million years of evolution through the female body. Cat brings her signature blend of science, storytelling, and humor to Talking Apes, guiding us through the missing pieces in our evolutionary story and the surprising role that female biology plays in shaping everything from mammal reproduction to primate societies. In this episode, we explore how scientific blind spots took hold, why female behavior and anatomy were overlooked for so long, and what happens when you return the female body to the center of the evolutionary narrative. From gynecology as the original technology to rethinking ape sociality and the hidden histories behind everyday traits, Cat illuminates a world that's been hiding in plain sight.Expect laughter, big ideas, and a refreshingly human conversation about what our bodies can teach us, and what we've missed by ignoring half the story. The science of human origins keeps producing new theories. But are we any closer to telling a true story of human origins? Or are we simply drowning in data? Earlier this November, the chair of UCSD's Department of Anthropology invited me to explore this question in a campus talk. My optimistic claim was that underneath many of the field's important debates, a powerful story has been emerging. At its core, this is a story about calories, cooperation, and climate change. And at the centre of it are not men hunting or women gathering. At the centre of it are children playing and learning. Here is the recording from the talk . Check out also my Substack essay inspired by this talk, with many of the pictures and graphs from the slides! PS. I was in San Diego to attend a CARTA symposium on the role of genetics in the study of human origins. I managed to record three episodes behind the scenes. Live recordings coming soon!FACT CHECKINGNo major errors have been found yet. Alien DNA EXPOSED: Pamela Downes Reveals the Truth — In this powerful conversation with channeler Pamela Downes, we confront one of the most controversial topics in human history: Was human DNA manipulated by extraterrestrial beings? This video dives directly into the alien DNA, dna manipulation, and hidden history behind our human origins, using channeled insights that challenge everything we've been taught. Pamela Downes explains how extraterrestrial beings allegedly altered our genetic structure in ancient times, limiting our natural psychic abilities, intuition, and access to higher consciousness. We explore whether humanity was intentionally engineered to forget its multidimensional nature and why certain ancient beings may have created a spiritual control system designed to suppress awakening. Inside this episode we uncover: – The possible truth behind the ancient alien DNA experiment – How and why human evolution may have been interrupted – What these cosmic beings wanted to hide from us – Why humans lost their natural abilities for telepathy and intuition – Signs that our dna activation is beginning again – How to break free from suppressed abilities and return to your original blueprint – Channeled messages about the future of consciousness on Earth If you're searching for answers about human origins, extraterrestrial intervention, or the awakening happening across the planet, this video will expand your perspective.

P&C start with a review of the prevailing views on human evolution, including the "out of Africa" hypothesis. A little while ago, scientists in China found that a find from a few decades ago was older than expected, and more modern than expected. It's become common for headlines to claim that "this changes everything" -- but maybe this one does. How does this million year old skull fit into the picture? The boys discuss.

She began receiving messages from her deceased mother which opened her up to a vast field of intuitive communications and past life memories. In Elisabeth's subsequent research she has learned about an ancient extraterrestrial invasion involving the Anunnaki and other off-world visitors that genetically altered the dominant human species at the time. The question of humans being genetically engineered or dumbed down by extraterrestrials is explored, as well as the connection to secret societies that accepted the alien visitors as gods. The summoning of negative extraterrestrials such as Reptilians by precisely invoking their names and this being the genesis of SRA ceremonies designed to enhance worldly power and influence is discussed. Also discussed are the roles of negative and positive giants in human history, and the importance of not generalizing giants as all negative as is done in the Old Testament bible. In addition, humanity's relationship with Inner Earth civilizations is discussed along with the role of the Vatican in hiding all this in the 1500s.Elisabeth emphasizes the importance of heart intelligence in making sense of the broad array of esoteric subjects involving humanity's origins and extraterrestrial intervention. The Smithsonian Institution has recently been called out by the Trump Administration for pushing "one-sided, divisive political narratives." But American history isn't the only domain in which the Smithsonian is advancing misinformation. The National Museum of Natural History's Hall of Human Origins vastly distorts the scientific evidence on human evolution, seeking to convince visitors that there's nothing special about us as human beings. On today's ID The Future, host Andrew McDiarmid talks to attorney and geologist Dr. Casey Luskin to dissect his explosive new editorial in the New York Post calling on the Smithsonian Museum to stop "miseducating the public" on the history of human beings. When Christa Kuljian arrived on the Harvard College campus as a first-year student in the fall of 1980 with copies of Our Bodies, Ourselves and Ms. magazine, she was concerned that the women's movement had peaked in the previous decade. She soon learned, however, that there was a long way to go in terms of achieving equality for women and that social movements would continue to be a critical force in society. She began researching the history of science and gender biases in science, and how they intersect with race, class, and sexuality. In Our Science, Ourselves: How Gender, Race, and Social Movements Shaped the Study of Science (University of Massachusetts Press, 2024), Kuljian tells the origin story of feminist science studies by focusing on the life histories of six key figures--Ruth Hubbard, Rita Arditti, Evelyn Fox Keller, Evelynn Hammonds, Anne Fausto-Sterling, and Banu Subramaniam. These women were part of a trailblazing network of female scientists in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s who were drawn to the Boston area--to Harvard, MIT, and other universities--to study science, to network with other scientists, or to take a job. Inspired by the social and political activism of the women's movement and organizations such as Science for the People, the Genes and Gender Collective, and the Combahee River Collective, they began to write and teach about women in science, gender and science, and sexist and racist bias and exclusion. They would lead the critiques of E. O. Wilson's sociobiology in 1975 and Larry Summers' comments about women in science thirty years later. Drawing on a rich array of sources that combines published journal articles and books with archival materials and interviews with major luminaries of feminist science studies, Kuljian chronicles and celebrates the contributions that these women have made to our collective scientific knowledge and view of the world. Christa Kuljian grew up in the Boston area, and has lived in Johannesburg, South Africa for the past thirty years. She is a science writer and the author of Sanctuary and Darwin's Hunch: Science, Race and the Search for Human Origins, which was short listed for the Sunday Times Alan Paton Award for Non-Fiction. What happens when you put 15 scholars—scientists and theologians, Muslim, Jewish, and Christian—in a room to talk about creation? In this episode of The Biblical Mind Podcast, Dr. Dru Johnson shares his experience launching the Abrahamic Theistic Origins Project in Oxford. Far from being a formal academic conference, the gathering focused on “enduring collegial co-learning”—building trust and curiosity across disciplines and faith traditions. The participants explored how evolutionary biology, genetics, astrophysics, and artificial intelligence intersect with theological questions about human uniqueness, creation, and divine action. Dru explains why religious identity didn't hinder the conversation—it enriched it, and why the bigger challenge was translating between scientists and theologians. He also shares a fascinating insight on Neanderthals and menopause, and how that single biological feature opens a window into intergenerational care, legacy, and biblical values. The project raises bold questions: Can we build a biblical philosophy of science? Does Hebraic thought inform scientific methods? And what does it look like to think with Scripture—not just about it—in a scientific age? We are listener supported. What is wrong with the standard evolutionary story of human origins? On today's ID the Future from the archive, host Eric Anderson begins a two-part conversation with geologist Dr. Casey Luskin to discuss why evolutionary models of paleo-anthropology, genetics, and evolutionary psychology fail to account for human origins. Dr. Luskin contributed a chapter on the topic in the 2023 book Science and Faith in Dialogue, which also features chapters from Stephen Meyer, Guillermo Gonzalez, James Tour, Marcos Eberlin, and others. In Part 1, Luskin describes his experiences in South Africa while earning a PhD in Geology from the University of Johannesburg. During his time there, Luskin had many opportunities to study various hominid fossils. Here he explains why he is Read More › Source

On November 24, 1974—50 years ago this November—a pair of paleoanthropologists made the discovery of a lifetime: a set of 47 bones, hidden in the dusty, rocky hills of a fossil site in Hadar, Ethiopia. The skeleton belonged to a 3.2 million year old hominin, which came to be nicknamed Lucy. She marked the very first specimen of Australopithecus afarensis—a species of early hominins that were very likely our own ancestors. Lucy might be the most famous fossil in the world, and she's transformed our understanding of human evolution.SciFri's Kathleen Davis looks back at 50 years of Lucy with the people who know her best: Dr. Donald Johanson, founding director of the Institute of Human Origins at Arizona State University and the paleo legend who discovered her, as well as Dr. Zeray Alemseged, paleoanthropologist at the University of Chicago who discovered “Lucy's baby.” They discuss what Lucy has taught us in the last 50 years, why she remains a scientific icon, and how understanding our ancestral origins helps us understand humanity.Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com.
