Summary In this episode, Ali Damron discusses the challenges many face in their healing journeys, particularly when they feel they are doing everything right but still not seeing results. She emphasizes the importance of understanding the mind-body connection, the dangers of over-optimization, and how tracking health metrics can lead to hypervigilance. Ali encourages listeners to trust their bodies and find balance in their health practices, while also addressing the role of uncertainty in healing. Takeaways Many patients do more than they need to for healing. The brain's perception of danger affects bodily functions. Over-optimization can lead to increased stress and symptoms. Tracking health metrics can shift from helpful to harmful. Hypervigilance can create a cycle of anxiety and symptoms. The body is capable of healing without constant intervention. Trusting your body is crucial for effective healing. Uncertainty is a natural part of the healing process. Less monitoring can lead to better health outcomes. Healing requires a nuanced approach, not a one-size-fits-all solution Sound bites "Our mind and body are not separate." "The body can heal from crazy things." "Data is not the enemy." Are you a mom who feels exhausted, overwhelmed, and mentally drained… even when your baby is sleeping? You are not lazy. You are not broken. And this is not “just motherhood.” In this episode of Nutrition for Mamas, postpartum dietitian and lactation counselor Brooke Miller interviews board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Stefanie Reinald to unpack what burnout in motherhood really looks like, how it differs from postpartum depression and anxiety, and why so many moms feel depleted years after having a baby. We cover: • Signs of mom burnout vs postpartum depression • Why nutrient depletion after pregnancy makes exhaustion worse • Hormone shifts after birth that impact mood, focus, and energy • Iron deficiency, vitamin D, and under-eating postpartum • Why ADHD is often diagnosed after motherhood • The mental load of modern moms • Working moms vs stay at home moms and burnout risk • Why “pushing harder” makes things worse • Simple ways to feel like yourself again without optimizing your life to death Dr. Reinald shares clinical insight from working with thousands of women plus her own experience as a mom of four navigating postpartum mental health, career pressure, and identity loss. If you've ever thought: “I shouldn't feel this tired.” “I used to handle more than this.” “I love my kids but I feel empty.” This episode will change how you see your body, brain, and season of life.
Mitochondria, Metabolism & Modern Medicine When "Everything Looks Normal"… But You Don't Feel Normal The Cellular Health Conversation Most People Never Get Why Your Energy, Hormones, and Metabolism Start at the Mitochondria You can be "doing everything right"… and still feel wiped out by 2 p.m. You can have "normal" labs… and still feel like something is off. In this episode of Richer Soul, Rocky sits down with Dr. William Haas to explore what modern medicine often misses: cellular dysfunction, mitochondrial health, gut integrity, hormones, toxins, and recovery tools like hyperbaric oxygen—especially for high performers who hit the wall despite clean living. "Medical school is teaching how to manage disease. And that was a rude awakening." 5 Soul-Level Insights from Dr. William Haas: (This isn't about chasing more hacks. It's about understanding what your body is telling you.) Mitochondria aren't just "energy." Dr. Haas explains mitochondria produce ATP (your energy currency) and influence inflammation and immune pathways—so mitochondrial dysfunction can ripple into far more than fatigue. Some "normal" meds can quietly derail cellular performance. He specifically calls out antibiotics like Cipro and Levoquin as "terrible" for mitochondrial health, notes OTC anti-inflammatories can "uncouple" mitochondria, and discusses metformin potentially impacting mitochondria and contributing to B12 deficiency. Food sensitivities may be a symptom, not the root cause. When people "light up like a Christmas tree" on food sensitivity testing, Dr. Haas says it often points to gut barrier issues ("leaky gut")—and that fixing the gut can make sensitivities go away. Hormones don't fail in isolation—stress and sleep shape the outcome. He emphasizes starting with fundamentals like sleep, alcohol reduction, and stress management, and explains "cortisol steal" where high stress drives cortisol production at the expense of testosterone. Metabolism isn't magic: build lean muscle. When asked how to increase metabolic rate, Dr. Haas gives the simplest (and most effective) answer: build lean muscle mass. Why This Conversation Matters: Dr. Haas shares that in his 40s—while scaling his medical practice, starting another business helping other doctors, and growing his family—fatigue hit hard, even while he was "doing the right things." It became a wake-up moment that something at a cellular level was off. That experience pushed him deeper into what he describes as cellular medicine: mitochondria, redox/repair pathways, hormones, toxins, and tools like hyperbaric oxygen. And it highlights a hard truth for high performers: If your health collapses, your freedom collapses with it. Money Learning: Dr. Haas also touches a reality most people don't think about: Becoming a doctor can delay earning for a long time. He says he was about 38 when he made his first "real" doctor paycheck—and contrasts that with his brother who started earning right after college. Rocky adds an important point: sometimes the best decisions happen outside the traditional insurance-driven system—when you can get proactive testing and establish baselines, rather than waiting until the system says you're "sick enough" to qualify. Key Takeaway: If you want more energy, better recovery, and a longer health span, you can't only focus on symptoms—you have to protect the foundations: mitochondria, gut function, hormones, and lean muscle mass. Guest Bio: Dr. William Haas: Dr. William Haas is trained in family practice and describes his path into integrative medicine, which he frames as focusing on prevention, food as medicine, the mind-body connection, and pulling tools from different healing modalities. He also mentions training/mentorship with Andrew Weil. In this episode, he discusses deeper evaluation beyond basic labs, including gut function/microbiome, micronutrients, hormones, inflammation, and toxins such as mycotoxins/mold, microplastics, and heavy metals. In this episode of The Resetter Podcast, Dr. Mindy Pelz sits down with hormone expert Dr. Sonya Jensen for a deeply honest conversation about how hormones shape our emotions, behaviors, relationships, and sense of self across every stage of a woman's life. Together, they explore why emotional reactions intensify during hormonal transitions, how resentment and rage often have ancestral roots, and why symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, and overwhelm are not character flaws, but signals from the body asking for support. Dr. Sonya introduces her "HER Cycle" framework, showing how hormones, emotions, and relationships are always influencing one another and how healing often begins in the body, not the mind. I get my blood work done every 90 days and I swear it's the ultimate tip for health in the short term and in the long term and just feeling your best on he daily. So, today I'm going to try to convince you to do the same. Because there is a huge difference between being "not sick" and being truly healthy and if you aren't getting your bloodwork done at least once a year, you really don't know what's going on. Most people only get blood work done when something is wrong. When they feel bad. When they are exhausted. When a symptom won't go away. When a doctor orders it because something already happened. Instead of doing it reactively, we are talking about doing it proactively. How can you know what your body needs? What supplements or adjustments to your lifestyle… it's almost impossible without bloodwork. It tells you how your hormones are functioning. How inflamed your body is. How well you are absorbing nutrients. How your cholesterol is trending. How stressed your nervous system is. How your metabolism is working. How your immune system is functioning. Today's episode is about why doing blood work every 90 days can completely change your relationship with your health, how the top longevity experts think about tracking biomarkers, how it helps you personalize supplements and lifestyle instead of guessing, and how it allows you to catch problems early before they become a real problem. Let's go! Your blood work is your internal dashboard. It's crazy that most people are driving their body blind!! I do full blood work every 90 days and I swear by it. I'm going to break it all down today. Every 90 days I sit down with my functional medicine doctor, Dr. Singler, and we go through everything. We look at what's trending up. What's trending down. What needs support. What needs to be addressed. We adjust supplements. We talk about lifestyle changes. We sometimes talk about peptides. We look at stress markers like cortisol. We look at hormones. We look at inflammation. We look at cholesterol. We look at nutrient deficiencies. It's not just "do you have a disease." It's "what is your body asking for." And that quarterly check-in has become one of the most powerful forms of self-care I do. Today's episode is about why doing blood work every 90 days can completely change your relationship with your health, how the top longevity experts think about tracking biomarkers, how it helps you personalize supplements and lifestyle instead of guessing, and how it allows you to catch problems early before they become diagnoses. Because knowledge is power. And when it comes to your health, awareness is leverage. ***Why the Best Health and Longevity Experts Obsess Over Biomarkers When you listen to people like Peter Attia, Andrew Huberman, and leaders in longevity medicine, one theme is constant. You can't manage what you don't measure. They talk constantly about biomarkers. Blood markers. Hormones. Cholesterol. Glucose. Inflammation. Nutrients. Stress markers. Not because numbers are the goal. Because trends tell the truth. You don't need to wait until something is "out of range" to take action. You can see patterns forming. You can see directions your health is moving. You can intervene early. Longevity is not built by reacting to disease. Longevity is built by managing risk decades before disease shows up. Blood work lets you see inside the body instead of guessing from the outside. Energy, mood, sleep, weight, anxiety, motivation, focus, hormones, immune function… all of it leaves fingerprints in your labs. *** Why Every 90 Days Is a Sweet Spot Doing blood work every 90 days creates a rhythm. It's long enough for meaningful changes to occur. It's short enough to catch problems early. It's frequent enough to personalize your approach. This cadence allows you to: • See how supplements are actually working • Know if lifestyle changes are helping • Track hormones as they shift • Monitor cholesterol trends • Watch inflammation markers • Identify deficiencies before symptoms • See how stress is impacting your body It turns health into an ongoing relationship instead of a once-a-year appointment. Rather than living on autopilot, it becomes a quarterly check-in. "How is my body actually doing?" "What does it need right now?" "What needs to change?" ***The Power of Baselines One of the most underrated benefits of regular blood work is baselines. When you know what your normal looks like, everything changes. If something shifts, you see it faster. If you get sick, you have something to compare to. If symptoms show up, you're not starting from zero. Your baseline becomes your personal health fingerprint. This is especially powerful with hormones, thyroid, cholesterol, inflammatory markers, glucose, and nutrient levels. Medicine is often built around population averages. But health is personal. Your optimal range is not always the same as "normal." Blood work every 90 days teaches you your body. ***Personalization Instead of Guessing Most people take supplements blindly. They try what's trending. What a friend is taking. What TikTok says. What an ad promises. Blood work removes guessing. You stop throwing things at your body and hoping. You start making informed decisions. When I review labs with my doctor, we are not just looking for problems. We are optimizing. We adjust supplements based on what my body is actually showing. We talk about hormones. We talk about stress. We talk about sleep. We talk about hydration. We talk about inflammation. We talk about recovery. If cortisol is elevated, the conversation shifts to lifestyle, nervous system, sleep, slowing down, hydration, sauna, recovery. If something is low, we talk about absorption, nutrition, and targeted support. It becomes a dialogue with your body instead of a guessing game. ***Emotional Health Lives in the Labs Too This is not just physical. Your labs often reflect your emotional and mental load. Stress hormones. Inflammation. Blood sugar instability. Nutrient depletion. Your body keeps the receipts. Blood work gives you objective data to support lifestyle changes. Sometimes the answer is not another supplement. Sometimes it's rest. Sleep. Boundaries. Sunlight. Movement. Slowing down. It's incredibly empowering to see that connection clearly. It turns self-care into strategy, not indulgence. ***How I Do It and How You Could Do It The way I do it is higher touch and more expensive. I use a mobile blood draw that comes to my house. Then I schedule a long call with my functional medicine doctor to go through everything. We take our time. We look at the full picture. We build a plan. But you do not have to do it that way. You can ask your doctor to order labs. You can go to a clinic and make an appointment so you're not waiting forever. You can get a basic panel and build from there. You can even upload your results into ChatGPT and use it as an educational tool to help you understand what the markers mean and what questions to ask your doctor. This doesn't have to be complicated. It just has to be consistent. ***Why This Is One of the Best Investments You Can Make We spend money on convenience. On clothes. On food. On homes. On trips. On businesses. But nothing affects the quality of your life more than the quality of your health. Energy. Mood. Confidence. Focus. Longevity. Relationships. Joy. Blood work every 90 days is not an expense. It is intelligence. It is prevention. It is personalization. It is early detection. It is self-leadership. It is saying, "I care about how long I live and how well I live." ***Most people wait for symptoms to tell them something is wrong. But by the time symptoms show up, your body has usually been whispering for a long time. Blood work lets you hear the whispers. It lets you see trends before problems. Adjust before crashes. Support before burnout. Correct before disease. For me, doing blood work every 90 days has become a quarterly health check-in with myself. How am I really doing? What does my body need? What needs to change? What needs support? It keeps me connected to my health instead of disconnected from it. And I truly believe this is one of the most powerful forms of preventative self-care anyone can adopt. So if you take anything from this episode, let it be this. Don't wait for something to go wrong. Start tracking your health while things are going right. There's nothing more important or worth spending your time and money on!

Tired of doing “everything right” and still feeling inflamed, foggy, and out of sync with your body? We dig into a clear, faith-forward plan to restore energy, steady hormones, and heal the gut using targeted, physician-grade supplements and practical daily habits. No fads. No hype. Just clean science, smart dosing, and tools you can actually stick with.We start by reframing the problem: modern food and stress deplete minerals, overwhelm the liver, and skew our fat balance. That's why stacked support works best. We unpack Hormone Tame as a five-in-one: activated B vitamins for methylation, mitochondrial nutrients for energy, and polyphenols that help metabolize estrogen so periods calm and mood steadies. Then we tackle the omega equation—why seed oils drive inflammation and how a high-purity omega-3, plus magnesium, can flip the script on aches, sleep, and resilience. From there, we build your gut plan. A medical-food style protein with L-glutamine soothes IBS and feeds the lining. Digestive Lift adds enzymes, gentle acid, and ox bile to prevent bloat and help you handle healthy fats. For microbiome balance, Biome Lift stabilizes daily while Spore Lift acts like a bouncer when SIBO or post-travel trouble hits. We also introduce a fiber you won't fear: a diverse prebiotic blend that increases short-chain fatty acids, nudges Akkermansia for metabolic health, and naturally boosts GLP-1 to curb cravings.Detox gets a reset with a true 3-2-1 approach—opening phase 3 and 2 before phase 1 so toxins exit rather than recirculate. Expect less bloat, brighter skin, and steadier energy when you rotate this seasonally and keep daily support with Slim Lift. If you're stepping down from GLP-1 meds or want a stimulant-free metabolism boost, MetaboLift pairs GLP-1 support with AMPK activation to quiet “food noise” and raise your burn without wrecking appetite or sleep. This is how faith, functional medicine, and simple choices meet: whole foods, better fats, prayer, rest, and supplements that respect how the body actually works. Waking up in the middle of the night to pee is not normal, even if it only happens once. This episode reveals why nighttime urination is an early metabolic warning sign, not a bladder or prostate issue. Ben explains how insulin resistance, blood sugar spikes, cortisol, and disrupted hormones interfere with deep sleep, fat burning, and brain detoxification. When sleep is interrupted, belly fat increases, hormones fall out of balance, and the brain's nighttime cleaning process shuts down. You'll learn the five main metabolic causes behind nighttime urination, including late-night eating, alcohol, electrolyte imbalance, high cortisol, and fluid shifts in the body. Ben also shares simple changes you can start tonight to sleep through the night again. This episode breaks down why most doctors miss this signal, how insulin resistance can exist years before diabetes, and how fixing metabolic signals can restore sleep, energy, fat loss, and long-term health. If you're waking up to pee, feeling wired but tired, or struggling with stubborn belly fat, this episode could change everything.

What You'll Learn: Why drinking coffee on an empty stomach can spike cortisol and slow fat loss How artificial creamers, seed oils, and sweeteners damage gut bacteria and overload the liver The overlooked danger of mold toxins (mycotoxins) in most coffee beans Why pesticides like glyphosate in coffee can worsen leaky gut and insulin resistance How drinking coffee too early disrupts circadian rhythm and causes energy crashes Why afternoon coffee (even decaf) sabotages deep and REM sleep How to choose clean, mold-free, organic coffee for better energy and metabolic health Key Takeaway: Coffee isn't the problem. Dirty coffee habits are. With the right timing, ingredients, and sourcing, coffee can be anti-inflammatory, liver supportive, and fat-burning.

Welcome! and Thank you for listening. Do this, no, do that. Coffee is bad. Coffee is good. Do these three things. Take these medications or else. It is no wonder that people just turn a blind ear and do nothing. When you finally have hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, or dementia, the treatments are aimed only at the symptoms instead of the root cause. When it comes to pain, people may think that is not such a bad thing because we do have pain medications that work well for short periods of time then cause havoc with side effects, tolerances and addiction. The best plan of action is to stay healthy through sunlight, diet, and exercise. I am going to address each of these today and probably every podcast because the list is endless on how you can keep yourself healthy. In today's episode: Hormone replacement for women: stay away, I'll tell you why Congestive heart failure: it is not a death sentence and does not have to be treated with a pharmacy of expensive medications. Dementia: prevent it through lifestyle changes now. Diet matters and plants alone may not do the job. Exercise: move all the ways and often. I'll tell you more. Thank your for listening. This episode comes straight from my own lived experience of spiraling before doctor's appointments and feeling dismissed when it comes to hormones. I dig into why so many hormone providers get it wrong and what's actually happening behind those rushed, frustrating conversations. Why does advocating for ourselves feel so hard? I walk you through what most doctors are (and aren't) trained to do when it comes to perimenopause and menopause. How much of this is about lack of education versus lack of time? And how do you stop blaming yourself when you're told your labs are "normal," but you feel terrible? We also talk about what good hormone care should actually look like, no matter where you get it. What questions should you be asking? What red flags should make you pause—or run? And how can you walk into your next appointment calm, confident, and clear instead of anxious and second-guessing everything? In this episode, we uncover: Why so many women feel dismissed or gaslit during hormone-related doctor visits. How to approach hormone conversations without feeling awkward, emotional, or intimidated. What good hormone care actually includes beyond "your labs look normal." How to spot red flags and green flags in hormone providers and clinics. Why understanding hormones changes your confidence and long-term health outcomes. Tune in and let's change the way you show up for your body! These Border Patrol raids deep in our cities are nothing but a massive beta test for the AI surveillance grid, with feds wearing Meta glasses that snap your face, ID you instantly, and feed you into kill lists just like they did to Alex Pretti before they executed him on camera. Erika Kirk wants you to buy her grieving trad-wife act, but the receipts don't lie—she's a documented pathological liar who faked her entire backstory, hid ex-fiancés and wild reality-TV hookups, invented a single-mom sob story, and buried inconvenient family members while pretending to be some pure Christian conservative princess.

In this episode of Ageless Future, Cade Archibald reframes aging as a bioenergetic problem—not simply “wear and tear” or the passage of time. He explains how mitochondrial dysfunction can quietly precede chronic disease through declining ATP production, rising oxidative stress (ROS), and increasingly inefficient cellular signaling, setting the stage for issues like neurodegeneration, cardiometabolic disease, and autoimmune/inflammatory disorders. Cade highlights how mitochondria act as intelligent signaling hubs that help the body adapt to stress, why symptoms often appear before labs look abnormal, and how restoring energy can unlock repair, detoxification, hormone balance, and immune stability. He closes with practical “mitochondria-charging” strategies—recovery, sleep, heat/cold exposure, red light, and foundational habits—challenging listeners to prioritize restoration to restore health.AGELESS FUTURE:Book Comprehensive Labs: https://agelessfuture.com/longevity-labs/FREE copy of The Peptide Blueprint: https://agelessfuture.com/blueprintSign up for future Health Accelerator Challenges calls LIVE! https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_YZsiUMOzSyqcE8IinC5YEQ#/registrationBooks: https://www.amazon.com/Books-Regan-Archibald/s?rh=n%3A283155%2Cp_27%3ARegan%2BArchibaldArticles: https://medium.com/search?q=Regan+ArchibaldLIKE/FOLLOW/SUBSCRIBE AGELESS FUTURE:YouTube -https://www.youtube.com/@ReganArchibald / https://www.youtube.com/@Ageless.FutureLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/regan-archibald-ab70b813Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ageless.future/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AgelessFutureHealth/DISCLAIMER: This video is for educational purposes only and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Menopause symptoms can hit harder than most women expect: sleep problems, night sweats, mood changes, brain fog, low libido, and weight gain can suddenly feel out of your control. If you've tried creams or patches and still don't feel like yourself, it may be time to learn why some patients explore hormone pellet therapy for women as another option. At Allure Medical, we focus on personalized care, because hormone needs are not “one-size-fits-all.” Our team evaluates symptoms and history to help determine whether a customized plan may support your goals, including energy, steady mood, more restorative sleep, and more comfortable intimacy. Unlike daily pills or topical products, pellet therapy is designed to deliver a steady release over time (with ongoing monitoring and adjustments when needed). This conversation also highlights why so many women were left confused about hormone therapy for years, and why the discussion around safety, dosing, and individualized care matters. If you're researching hormone pellet therapy for women, start with the right questions: What symptoms are you treating? What delivery method fits your lifestyle? What does proper monitoring look like? In this episode, Kristina shares what actually helped her manage PCOS in a sustainable and supportive way, after years of feeling stuck in cycles of restriction, overtraining, and doing more without seeing results. She explains why PCOS is not a willpower problem, but rather a signal that the body is responding to stress, inflammation, and blood sugar dysregulation. Kristina walks through the foundational shifts that made the biggest difference for her, including prioritizing high-fiber, anti-inflammatory nutrition, regulating blood sugar, calming the nervous system, and using supplementation to support the foundation rather than replace it. She also discusses why chronic dieting and excessive intensity often backfire with PCOS, and how strategic calorie and carb cycling helped her body feel safer and more responsive. This episode is for anyone with PCOS who feels like they are doing everything right but still not seeing progress. Kristina reminds listeners that when stress is reduced and the right signals are in place, sustainable change and transformation become possible! In this episode, Dr. Jessica Shepard, board-certified OB/GYN and Chief Medical Officer of Hers, shares that the FDA just removed the black box warning on hormone replacement therapy after 23 years. We discuss what actually happened with the WHI study that created all the fear around estrogen and breast cancer, and why the research never actually supported that narrative.Dr. Shepard explains why you shouldn't wait until menopause to start the HRT conversation and how starting in your perimenopausal years can make all the difference for long-term health. Dr. Shepard shares the essential labs she runs on patients including ApoB, HbA1c, and thyroid optimization, plus the longevity metrics women should be tracking. We also get into supplement recommendations including why she recommends 10 grams of creatine daily, the role of inflammation in aging, and how estrogen is naturally anti-inflammatory which is why women see increased cardiovascular risk and metabolic dysfunction after menopause.Kayla's social + website:Instagram: kaylabarnesTikTok: femalelongevityTwitter: https://x.com/femalelongevityWebsite: https://www.kaylabarnes.comSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4OLWWn2...Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...Follow Her Female Protocol: https://www.protocol.kaylabarnes.comDr. Jessica Shepherd's social + website:Website: https://www.jessicashepherdmd.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jessicashepherdmd/Transform Your Health: https://eudemonia.net/?utm_source=podcast&utm_medium=kayla-podcast&utm_campaign=jessica-shepherd

This episode is for you if you've ever wondered why your body seems to hold onto fat, why cravings hit even when you just ate, or why dieting alone never seems to work.In this episode, I break down the storage hormone, insulin, and why understanding it is not just about biology—it's about how your mind, habits, and environment shape your hormonal responses. I share practical ways to reduce cravings, balance hormones, and eat in a way that actually supports your body.1. Insulin Isn't Just About FoodMost people think insulin is purely biological: “Eat sugar → insulin rises → fat storage happens.” But here's what I want you to know: your mind controls it too.Thoughts, anticipation, and habits can trigger insulin release.Insulin signals: “We have excess energy—store it, don't release it.”Paired with cortisol (the stress hormone), insulin drives cravings and fat storage more than you realize.Your biology is responding to your thoughts and environment as much as your plate.2. Everyone Responds DifferentlyI've seen it hundreds of times in the Make Peace With Food program: no two people respond the same way to food.Certain foods trigger more insulin in some people than others.Your sleep, stress, activity, and lean muscle mass all influence insulin's effect. That's why a personalized metabolic blueprint is so powerful—it shows you exactly which foods are truly nourishing for your body.Forget generic diets. Your hormones hold the real answers.3. Food Pairing & TimingIt's not just what you eat—it's how you pair it and when.Pairing carbs with protein, fat, or fiber reduces insulin spikes.Eating according to your circadian rhythm helps your body use energy efficiently.Anticipation of food triggers insulin before the first bite, creating cravings and prepping digestion.Understanding this alone can change how you respond to cravings.4. Cravings, Scarcity, and StressStress drives cravings at the hormone level:Cortisol increases blood sugar needs for immediate energy.Insulin follows, storing sugar and locking away energy. The drop in blood sugar afterward is what we feel as cravings.I share a personal story from hosting my retreat in Greece—stress and scarcity triggered intense cravings even though food was abundant. This shows how mindset directly interacts with hormones.5. Actionable StepsMonitor your hormones: notice stress, sleep, and food triggers.Mindful pairing: combine foods to balance glucose response.Strength training: lean muscle mass improves insulin efficiency.Anticipation awareness: notice how thoughts about food trigger cravings.Shift scarcity mindset: create safety around eating by experimenting with what nourishes you.The Reframe I Want You to Take With YouInstead of asking:“What should I eat?”I want you to start asking:How does this affect my hormones?Am I eating from safety or scarcity? What patterns am I reinforcing? What does my nervous system need right now?Transformation doesn't come from control. It comes from understanding.Key TakeawaysThe storage hormone is influenced by both biology and mindsetThere is no universal “healthy” foodStress and cravings are hormonally linkedAnticipation alone can trigger storageFood fear creates overeating — safety creates balanceHormone awareness beats calorie countingBook your FREE 30-minute Food Freedom Call now and start your journey to lasting change! GLP-1 medications like Ozempic are everywhere—but most conversations completely miss what midlife women actually need to know. In this powerful interview, Kim sits down with Dr. Alicia Robbins, board-certified OB/GYN, lifestyle medicine diplomate, and certified menopause practitioner, to unpack the real story behind GLP-1s, microdosing, perimenopause, HRT, and the shame that still surrounds women's health in midlife. They dive deep into: Why “just eat less and move more” is failing women over 40 What GLP-1s really do beyond weight loss: inflammation, brain fog, cravings, and joint pain How to advocate for yourself with your doctor (and what to say when they shut you down) The real reason HRT prescriptions dropped and what you need to know now Why brain fog still isn't officially recognized, and what to do about it How microdosing GLP-1s can support metabolism, mental clarity, and recovery The backlash, stigma, and the jealousy narrative behind the “shortcut” debate This conversation is honest, science-backed, and deeply empowering. If you're navigating midlife, perimenopause, menopause, or simply confused by the noise around GLP-1s, this episode will help you cut through the BS. The postpartum period is one of the most dramatic hormonal transitions in a woman's life, yet it is rarely explained in a clear or compassionate way. In this episode, Teresa and Jamie walk through what is actually happening inside the body and brain after birth, why so many women say they don't “feel like themselves,” and how much of this experience is rooted in biology , not personal weakness or failure. They begin by unpacking the role of prolactin, the hormone responsible for breast milk production. While prolactin supports bonding and nurturing behaviors, it also suppresses ovulation and lowers dopamine, the brain's motivation and reward chemical. This helps explain why many postpartum women feel more emotionally flat, less driven, or disconnected from activities they once enjoyed, even while deeply loving their baby. Next, they discuss the massive drop in estrogen and progesterone that occurs within the first 24–48 hours after delivery. During pregnancy, these hormones are higher than at any other time in a woman's life. Their sudden withdrawal can contribute to mood swings, anxiety, tearfulness, sleep disruption, and the baby blues, and in some women may play a role in postpartum depression or anxiety. Progesterone's calming effect on the nervous system and estrogen's support of serotonin help explain why this shift can feel so emotionally intense. The conversation then turns to dopamine and how its suppression during breastfeeding affects motivation, pleasure, focus, and emotional resilience. Teresa and Jamie emphasize that it is possible to feel grateful, bonded, and deeply loving toward your baby while also struggling internally , and that these experiences can exist at the same time. They also explore why postpartum is uniquely demanding when you combine hormonal changes with sleep deprivation, physical healing, and identity shifts. Together, these factors create one of the most neurologically and hormonally vulnerable seasons of a woman's life. The episode then transitions into the topic of fertility after birth. Many women are told that breastfeeding prevents pregnancy, but ovulation always occurs before the first postpartum period, meaning pregnancy is possible before cycles return. Prolactin levels vary widely depending on nursing frequency, nighttime feeds, pumping, stress, and individual biology, making fertility unpredictable during this time. Finally, Teresa and Jamie discuss how natural family planning and fertility awareness methods can be used postpartum, but require special education and realistic expectations. Cervical mucus patterns can be irregular, estrogen may rise multiple times before true ovulation, and the body may have several “practice runs” before releasing an egg. Have you ever felt like you're doing everything right — eating well, working out, staying consistent — and the scale still won't budge (or keeps creeping up)? You're not crazy… and you're not broken. In this episode, I'm breaking down three clear signs your hormones may be affecting your weight loss, especially if you're over 35 and feel like the old rules just don't work anymore. I'm sharing: The most common symptoms I see in women with hormone-related weight loss resistance Why dieting harder and doing more cardio can actually make things worse How gut health, stress, and recovery play a massive role in fat loss And the exact framework I use with clients to help them lose weight without extreme dieting or burnout I'm also sharing parts of my own story — including how I gained 50 pounds in a year despite doing "everything right," and what finally helped me reverse it. If you feel stuck, frustrated, or like your body isn't responding the way it used to… this episode will help you understand why — and what to do next.
#196 - Stop Hair Loss: Hormones, Stress & What Actually Works Hair loss isn't just cosmetic — it's a biological signal. And if you've ever watched clumps of hair collect in the shower, you know exactly how unsettling hair shedding can be. In this deeply personal episode, Lisa breaks down hair loss causes, why it often shows up during already stressful seasons of life, and what actually helps reverse it — without panic, gimmicks, or jumping straight to pharmaceuticals. Drawing from both functional medicine research and lived experience, this episode connects the dots between stress hormones, DHT, thyroid health, inflammation, nutrition, and insulin resistance — and explains why hair loss is rarely about “just hair.” If you've been told it's genetic and there's nothing you can do… this conversation may change everything. In this episode, you'll learn: Why up to 40% of women experience hair loss — and why it often hits during perimenopause, menopause, post-partum, or prolonged stress The difference between autoimmune hair loss, hormone-driven hair loss, and stress-induced shedding How cortisol, insulin resistance, thyroid dysfunction, and DHT quietly sabotage hair growth The most common everyday habits that worsen hair loss (even when you're doing “everything right”) Evidence-backed lifestyle shifts, foods, supplements, and scalp strategies that actually support regrowth What finally helped Lisa stop excessive shedding after a major life transition — and why consistency matters more than perfection This is a compassionate, science-backed roadmap for anyone who's tired of feeling scared, frustrated, or alone in their hair loss journey — and wants real answers that address the root cause. Episode Timestamps 00:00 – Why hair loss often shows up during stress, grief, or hormonal change 04:45 – What's normal shedding vs. a red flag 09:15 – The two main categories of hair loss (and why it matters) 13:30 – Hormones, DHT, and why women lose hair differently than men 19:45 – Lifestyle habits quietly damaging hair growth 26:30 – Nutrition for hair regrowth: what actually helps 31:45 – Supplements that support hair (without pill overload) 37:30 – Scalp care, circulation, and what finally stopped the shedding Final takeaway: Hair loss is rarely random — and it's almost never “just aging.” It's information. When you listen to the signals your body is sending and address the root causes, regrowth is often possible. And just as importantly, you're not broken — you're responding to stress, change, and biology in a very human way. If you or someone you love is quietly panicking every time you wash your hair, this one's for you. Instead of answering questions, they're trying to shut us down. Turning Point USA, under Erika Kirk's regime, is in meltdown—firing 30-40 insiders in a desperate hunt for the mole leaking info about shady embezzlements, Fort Huachuca plots, and the DOGE audit fallout. John Jubilee joins Stew to expose how Energized Health's inner cellular hydration protocol turned his dad bod into peak strength stronger than his 20s.
You can ALWAYS get stronger, no matter your age. In this episode, I'm joined by muscle-centric medicine expert Dr. Gabrielle Lyon to reframe how you think about your health—starting with muscle. So Dr. Lyon breaks down how to simplify your focus and double down on what truly moves the needle for your health. At the center of it all? Skeletal muscle– the key driver of metabolic health, strength, and resilience as we age. She explains why protecting and building muscle isn't about aesthetics—it's about safeguarding your heart, brain, and long-term vitality. We're here to remind you that strength training is really about training for your future self, and it can be easier than you may think. Ready to boost your strength and confidence in midlife? This is an episode you don't want to miss!

Go to mara-labs.com/DRG and use code DRG at checkout. → My one stop shop for quality supplements: https://theswellscore.com/pages/drg Episode Description What if the supplements you're taking aren't doing anything because your body can't actually absorb them? David Roberts and Dr. John Gilday spent years developing Mara Labs after David's wife Mara was diagnosed with breast cancer and they discovered the compound that could help her, sulforaphane from broccoli, didn't exist in stable, absorbable form anywhere. They grew broccoli sprouts for ten families while Dr. Gilday obsessed over stabilizing the molecule. When he finally cracked it, Mara pushed them to share it with the world before she passed away. This episode reveals why most broccoli supplements are essentially worthless, how microplastics are jamming up your cellular detox systems, and why estrogen itself isn't the enemy, but its metabolism might be. You'll learn why berberine outperformed Valium as a sleep aid in studies, how eating late with low insulin production leaves glucose sitting in your blood all night, and why Ozempic's weight loss can be up to 40% muscle. Discover: • The broccoli supplement truth: why 95% of products contain only the precursor molecule that your stomach acid destroys before it can work • The microplastics mechanism: how plastic particles fill up your cellular "drains," blocking the lysosome from clearing waste and creating hormonal noise • The estrogen metabolism shift: why estrogen is protective until it converts to quinones that can make DNA breaks in your genome • The sulforaphane detox pathway: how one compound turns on Nrf2 to activate every cell's built-in detoxification system • The berberine absorption problem: why standard berberine is nearly impossible to dissolve and ends up disrupting your gut microbiome instead of entering your bloodstream • The GLP-1 difference: why natural berberine-induced satiety works without slowing gut motility the way Ozempic does Find Dr. John Gilday & David Roberts: Website: https://mara-labs.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/themaralabs Timestamps: 0:00 - Why most hormonal supplements don't work 1:46 - Hot Seat: Biggest detox mistakes and the NRF2 master switch 3:20 - Is berberine nature's Ozempic? 7:18 - Claire's one-month transformation with sulforaphane 9:21 - How Mara Labs was born from a breast cancer diagnosis 17:00 - Microplastics: the forest fire in your body 24:18 - The estrogen truth: it's not the enemy, the metabolism is 35:04 - Why your matcha works better with sulforaphane 39:17 - Berberine, Ozempic, and fasting in a pill 52:12 - The 40% muscle loss problem with Ozempic (and how to prevent it)
