Daughters who have experienced repeated discomfort, hurt, trauma, or risks to safety from their mothers, will often grapple with the decision to estrange. Their choice is neither impulsive nor rash. When exploring their current relationship, their growing awareness of alienation, lack of affection, abuse, or neglect can push them to consider cutting ties. Khara Croswaite Brindle examines the challenges and needs of adult daughters navigating the immensely difficult and defining event of estranging from their mother. She is a licensed mental health therapist in private practice in Denver, Colorado and holds various other roles, including financial therapist,TEDx Speaker, burnout consultant, author and professor.Kathryn also interviews Radio Host Joyce Bender. In 1985, Joyce Bender had a life-threatening accident due to epilepsy that caused a cerebral hemorrhage requiring subsequent brain surgery.
